Title: The Wii's Blue Light
Post by: BLUEVOODU on January 30, 2022, 04:02:23 PM
Does anyone remember back when the Wii was new, the blue light would always light up when there was an update...etc.   At night, the light would light up... you knew you had a message, an update, or something else.  Many times, it ended up being a new message.  For some reason, I thought about this today and it was ringing in my head.

It's also been awhile since we had a retro post  ;D

Ha, I pulled the Wii out from the closet the other day. Even though it no longer functions, I turned on Wii24 and had forgotten how bright that light is. Even on the Dim setting. I immediately turned it off, lol. It's a good thing I never had it in the bedroom because there's no way I would be able to sleep with that thing strobing in the night.

I have the wii hooked up in my retro gaming cubby hole. I forgot about the blue light thing. I have the Wii U hooked up to my main TV. Everything still played occasionally.  8)

@CreepinDeth  --> Wii24 actually still made the Wii glow? They turned that service off... I'm not sure even what update or what the system could've even done to activate the light.

@retro junkie yeah... we migrated to the Wii U for most everything... but still have the Wii connected for Gamecube discs. Though... it started having troubles lately with Certain Gamecube discs...  :o Sad face...  :(

Back when the Wii came out and the 1st year ... it was pretty cool to message people on the Wii.  Some of the apps were pretty cool... including the weather App.  I don't know why, it was just fun at times to use it.   Either way, seeing the system light up was pretty cool and bright.  You're right... it was really bright lol  ;D

It's not the service that makes it glow, it's the feature itself. It's to show you that Wii24 has been enabled. Otherwise, it's orange I believe. Either way, it's super bright.

yeah... when it's "asleep," it's orange as long as it has power.   Then it glows blue when there are updates, system updates, messages via the console / Nintendo / other people.  All that was turned off in 2013 or 2014.  Either way... The blue light really prompts interesting memories from that time.

Weird, could be maybe I had some backlog? It did the breathing blue light as soon as I turned it on.
