Hope everyone had a good holiday.
I have been avoid carbs and increasing my fiber. Trying to adjust my eating habits and going for a different way of dieting. There is a need heath wise. I have been losing a lot of weight which has been very good and showing up as good in my labs. I have also increase my exercise routine.

I have been trying to survive the first stage of this first bullet hell shooter for the NES/Famicom console. It is tough and it is very busy on screen, space ships, bullets, etc.
This is a picture of my cartridge. I had to attach a video because there was no way that I could capture, with a camera standing in front of my TV, all of the action in this game. It is a homebrew and I am loving every minute of it.

I am very reluctant concerning this movie. I was very disappointed in the Secret Invasion series. I will probably wait until it is shone on Disney+

@BLUEVOODU to be honest, I have forgotten about this game. It is still a bit pricey even for the Japanese version, which is the best option. Not sure when, but maybe it will be in my sights some day.
(right now I am playing a bullet hell shooter on the NES)  :happydance:

Loki has just rewritten the time lines of the MCU. He became the God of stories as he did in the comics. He has become more powerful than what he was.

I am presently watching through the Star Trek series Enterprise. When this series was first released on TV I totally rejected it. Could not find it useful for viewing as part of the franchise. I am first a fan of the original Star Trek. I spent time adjusting my antenna, as a youth, trying to tune it in on our old Black & White TV set, in those days. Was totally thrilled with STNG when it came along. Deep Space 9 I sort-of watched it sometimes. Star Trek Voyager left me frustrated, how can these people be on their way home to the alpha area of the galaxy and still run into the same aliens? Why were there so many episodes with a few to one in a shuttle far away from the ship? Aren't they trying to make their home? Everyone seems hostile so why are they away from the ship? There was a lot about that series that I felt that they dropped the ball. There was so much potential! Aggh!!!
I said all this because I really do appreciate the Enterprise series now. I am really enjoying my romp through each episode. And I find Deep Space 9 more appealing. Even though both of those series had endings that I felt were lame. Not sure if it is because I am older or what. I am in the first season of Enterprise right now, blu-ray. I wish they hadn't dated it with the intro theme song.

General Discussion / Re: Werewolf by Night in color

@BLUEVOODU
Sorry, I view the idea of putting color to that short piece as blasphemy. And my Daughter and I refuse to watch it in color. Our very conversation when we saw it put up on Disney+ was, "How come Disney continues to destroy their own stuff." "Did someone complain?" "What is wrong with these people?" We were offended by the very concept. I guess I consider the black & white aspect of the work a part of the artistic makeup of the total work, sort-of like the old Wizard of Oz movie. And it was enjoyable with it being like that.

Sorry, I refuse to watch it in color.  :happydance:

I am glad to have the physical games that are in my collection of retro stuff. I plan on collecting more Switch games. I have somewhat neglected this console for some reason. I need to increase the library of my DS, 3DS, GBA, and my Switch. I have recently been purchasing just NES and Famicom. I have been dabbling in the emulation stuff by purchasing some of the handhelds from Ali Express. Some of them are not that bad. If you are interested in old 16 bit gaming the stick with the wireless controller works well for Genesis and SNES games, and the NES too if you would like to try that route. It is very convenient, just hook the HDMI end to your flat screen, plug the power cord into the usb and play. I have several of these so I label them.
With these sticks Mame is a bit touch and go, some games have a horrible lag. Some games just do not work.

My Daughter and I have finished watching the Agents of Shield series. I will say about the last two seasons, they did not drop the ball. Same quality and good ending to the series. Seasons 6 and 7 was just too short.

Both Walmart and Best Buy are going to eliminate physical copies of games and movies from their stores in 2024. I am thinking that this will impact and change the gaming industry in a big way. Game stores struggle to keep the doors open by carrying merchandise like figurines, stuffed things, DVDs, t-shirts, boardgames, buying and selling electronics, used games, etc. Not sure how this would affect them unless the game industry went full digital download.
I don't purchase new games anymore. I look for used stuff, usually on eBay, or a local game store. So I am not supporting the system, I guess. So how is this my fault? There are those "collector stuff" that I have stepped up to the plate to obtain, usually stuff that I was really into. Like the Lunar series on the PS1. Got both one and two collector's editions. Most everything else has been used and I have not been too picky on whether it was in the original case. But being a retro gamer most of my interests have been in the used market anyway. But where I do care is my Nintendo Switch. I want hard copies.

When it comes to movies, I do purchase new, hard copies, DVDs. Has this generation switched to streaming only?

So where do you think we are going with physical games at this point? Post up!

I was always a "game only" console sort-of gamer. Whether it be handheld or home console, don't put any other feature on my system. Restrict my consoles to game only!  Then came along the Sony Vita, it ruined everything.  :(  I fell head over heels for that system. Man I used it for everything, gaming, skype, youtube, facebook, email, photos, etc. It was my all in one in my pocket. :great: I carried it everywhere, even on business trips to keep in touch at home with skype. It was the bomb. Then Sony dumped it, all the support crashed and I was left with a game system only. I miss that time however short it was, there has not been anything like it since. I did use it occasionally to do remote play.
That being said............

I would love a return to a Vita like device.

The first episode was very good! My Daughter and I have been eagerly waiting for this. It is really the only thing that Disney is doing awesome as a series right now. We are here for the ride. And looking forward to see where they take us.

I thought there were going to be more episodes than this. Disney plus is saying that episode 7 is the last episode.
This series is not the best in production and cinematography, none of the Disney plus Star Wars series have been, to me. They have felt more like fan-based in production. And I feel like I am being insulting to some fans because I have seen some fan productions that run circles around professional movie makers. But it has been the only Star Wars series that Disney has touched that I could say I really liked. There were some epic scenes, loved the space whales. Not sure if there will be any 2nd season. A lot of bashing from different sources on this series. I don't understand. It is not that bad. I was thinking that due to the plunging of Disney plus subs and the disappointment that has been going around toward Disney that this series will not get the viewership that it deserves.
A lot of things have changed due to the writer's strike. They said that for a series like this, the cost has been around $250,000,000, total. They will be reducing the amount spent to $5,000,000 per episode. Ouch! I cringe to think what that will mean in going forward, shorter seasons, unheard of actors, poor special effects, sock puppets? (Usually if the writing is good I can use my imagination and get by. For example, the old Doctor Who had poor stage props, costumes, special effects, but great writing.) They are already talking about cancellations and changes in scheduling for a lot of their future projects.

I am also a shoot'em up fanboy. I will be picking this one up even though it is not my favorite. I am interested in collecting all the shoot'em ups that I can for the Switch.

@BLUEVOODU the whole series has been centered around Sabine Wren. It should have been called something else instead of Ahsoka.

@BLUEVOODU in the early comics Nick Fury was always the leader, or head, of shield. There was no Coulson. Coulson appeared in the MCU movies and quickly became a fan favorite. Disney seizing the opportunity to cash-in created a vehicle to use the character, wha-la "Agents of Shield" headed by Coulson, tv series was born. There were comics that came out after the series started airing that featured Coulson.

It doesn't bother me that it is not canon. I have enjoyed the Coulson character. It is too bad that they did not have cameos of Marvel heroes overlapping in the episodes and storyline. And the movies should have had more of an impact as I was trying to figure out which movie was going on at the time of the episodes I was watching.
I was disappointed in not seeing more mutants in the series. Maybe it was a matter of special effects and money?
It is a dark gloomy intense drama from start to finish. It makes a lot of sense to link the whole season together into one storyline. It creates a good continuity throughout the season as opposed to the traditional problem solved in a 45min episode. It's sort-of reminiscent of the old serials from way back.

I have enjoyed watching this. I have a couple of more episodes in the 5th season. They intended to end the series here at this point. Somehow, it was, out of the blue, renewed and a couple of more short seasons were produced. I am hesitant in my expectations of the last two seasons.
But I will watch them with one eye closed.  ;)

I thought that there were only going to be 6 episodes, but I am now finding out that there are eight.
At this point I am feeling like they misnamed the series.

General Discussion / Star Wars: Ahsoka

Has anyone started watching this series? I sort-of like this one, even though it does not specifically standout in the over crowded Disney Star Wars clutter. There is a certain something about it that has hooked me. I just hope they do not derail it in the following episodes. It doesn't have that Star Wars feel in it, but I think part of that is the drama aspect. And I think that is part of my problem with any of the Disney+ Star Wars series, other than the sometimes mediocre story telling, canon issues, or writing. Star Wars movies are mostly action orientated. I hope there is some real character development as the story unfolds. This seems to be focused toward her sidekick, Sabine, for the moment. But that is okay because it is causing us to get to know more about Ahsoka.

Who's watching?

You made me dig out my Animal Crossing for the DS. My Daughter and I played that one to death. When we found things that the other did not have we would give it to the other. I had one room of my house dedicated to gaming. I had arcade machines, pinball machines, gaming, pong table, etc. Then New Leaf came along and we did that one as well. I really need to get back into New Leaf. For some reason the Switch Animal Crossing killed it for me. There is just something about that version which does not draw me into the game the way the others did. I mainly focused on the house in my gameplay. I liked designing shirts and waiting to see the town folks wearing them.

I have the N64 Animal Crossing that was only released in Japan. I got the fan translated version from Ali Express on cart. It was ported to the Gamecube and released in the US, same game.

To me, Animal Crossing can be one of those games that really does not have an ending, you can play it forever.

@BLUEVOODU really I have settled in and it has become my daily. Everything is working out well. I am getting spoiled to the instant on boot up, that is fast. Really impressed with it all. I save my stuff to the SD card and with that I am satisfied. I can work offline with the google office, streaming works well, accessing everything that I need to. I am presently on a waiting list for 200 mbps net speed over fiber optics, unlimited data usage. Should have it up and going within the next few weeks. That will make an even bigger difference.

This has been a good option for me at this present time.

Happy Birthday!! from the golden age of gaming  ;)

@BLUEVOODU i am needing to get into this game again. I was pulverized by one of the bosses and never could get past him when I laid the game down. It is still in my N64. I just need to learn the pattern and avoid his hits. I think I was distracted by another game too on the NES.

@BLUEVOODU angry birds never stirred my interest. I have played games that involve the subject matter, but I never liked the gameplay.

Mentioning the PSvita stirs up some bad feelings toward SONY. The PSvita was the only console that truly drew me in to accept a console that was not a dedicated game machine. I did everything that the console was made for, got my email, Facebook, youtube, gaming, Skype with my Family when I was in czech republic on business trip, Netflix, got weather, crunchyroll, internet browsing, first time online gaming, used the camera, etc. I even enjoyed the feature where people let you into their lives on camera live, not sure what that was called. Then SONY just up and dropped support and then everything fell apart. It was quickly reduced to a game console only. What became my number one carry around, became a disappointment. I even invested in the Playstation TV. Now I just pull it out to play a fighter, or some other game occasionally. I played my first Persona game, and finished it, on the PSvita. I had it out recently playing BlazBlue: Continuum Shift. I was a big fan of this console and SONY just threw me down and stomped all over me. Or that is how I felt at the time. They just do not know how to market a handheld console like Nintendo does.

I like that English lady that works with Fury. And it seems like they put things together for the closure of the series. I expected something like a cliffhanger. I feel like it would have been better as a movie rather than a mini series, just me. I was satisfied with the ending I got. This is something that I would not go back and watch again. But,since every episode is up, I might binge watch the whole thing and see if I get a different feeling.

This will probably be a DVD purchase, or a Disney+ stream. We still do not have a local theater, but it is supposed to open sometime this summer. I really enjoyed the first one.
