General Discussion / Happy Thanksgiving!
« on: November 23, 2022, 12:53:32 PM »
Hey Everyone - Happy Thanksgiving - Early.

I hope it's a wonderful holiday for you and yours.

IF you haven't been to the forums and Discord in awhile, please drop by and say hi!

What are your favorite games to play on the Steam Deck?  In some cases, I find there’s a vast library… and then I also see many titles aren’t supported or require external software.   I have about 10-12 games that I WANT to play on it… with options for about 10% of my library… many more if I put time into the compatibility.

Rough - that screen did look pretty nice now that I think about it. I did power it on for a few min when I brought it home.

Maybe it’s time to just use it…

In the past, I haven’t been the biggest Atari fan.  I did like the Jaguar and Lynx.   However, this looks like a cool steel book Switch collection.
Atari 50: Steelbook Edition - Nintendo Switch

It’s $50 at this time.

General Discussion / Re: Star Wars: Andor
« on: November 09, 2022, 09:15:36 PM »
Andor - after about the 3rd episode... it really started getting better IMO.    It's still a bit dark, but definitely digging it a lot more.

Anyone else still watching?  Getting into it?

Bumping this topic... I think supply has been stabilizing. However, when I go to,, and others... I do not see anything in stock.

Both Amazon links are reservation only:

This is unheard of though... 2 years out, already.  Hard to believe it's been 2 years btw.  Has anyone had success buying a PS5 (those who still want one)?

genesis mini 2 just came in the mail, this may get pushed back in the queue - game backlog is a FILO stack

@targetrasp come on man... play it!  play the game!  Do it Naow!

@Grindspine  --> Play the Cowbunga collection yet?! lol

@retro junkie --> I'm actually happy that the camera is missing.  Others definitely won't share my same sentiment.  There is an IR sensor... but beyond that... no camera (IMO) is a good thing.  Everything has a camera these days.  Now, I do see the benefit for sure for certain applications to have a camera.

@CreepinDeth --> lol... idk man.  I've just been busy.  I wanted it... but then time just went on.  And your screen comment... I never looked into that.  Are you saying the Steam Deck screen is much better?  I thought the OLED switch had the better screen.  OR are you saying... don't play it because there will be lament in regard to the Steam Deck screen?

@CreepinDeth  Thank you for the ProtonDB link.  Checking it out.    There were reports at later levels with breaking bugs... but updates appeared to fix it.

I will definitely check this out.  I want to play this game lol... especially on the Steam Deck!  ;D

General Discussion / Cool Lego Sets - Some on Sale
« on: November 05, 2022, 12:46:07 PM »
Every once in awhile… it’s cool to browse Lego sets.   I’ll create a thread here and there on some of these sets.   Check out the following sets… they’re pretty cool:

LEGO Super Mario Super Mario 64 Question Mark Block 71395 Building Set

LEGO Star Wars Dagobah Jedi Training Diorama 75330 Building Set

LEGO Ideas Fender Stratocaster 21329 Building Set
@Grindspine lol

Just a few … thought they were cool.  Getting  to that time of the year, maybe some gift ideas.   Thoughts? Comments?  Post it up!

@targetrasp speaking of Mario Part - we need to play that again.  Maybe we can get some others to join.

@CreepinDeth - I still haven't opened mine... I've almost had it 1 year now.  VERY Close to 1 year.

General Discussion / Re: Eternals
« on: October 30, 2022, 09:43:37 AM »
I hope you're right @CreepinDeth   ... man... Eternals was such a kick in the giblets on 1st and 2nd viewing lol.  ;D

Rotten Tomatoes has it ranked as the worst but it's at least as good as Thor 2, The Incredible Hulk (as played by Edward Norton), Iron Man 2, or Age of Ultron... also the bottom tiered Marvel moves!
@targetrasp   - You take that back!  The Edward Norton Hulk was pretty good.  I thought so at least...   I really liked it

General Discussion / Re: WEREWOLF by Night
« on: October 30, 2022, 09:40:08 AM »
We ended up watching Werewolf by Night... and thought it was pretty awesome. It introduced a new character and is actually part of the MCU.  I'm curious where they will take the rest of what just happened in this series.  Awesome Halloween show as well!

Has anyone else checked out Werefolf by Night?

General Discussion / Re: Star Wars: Andor
« on: October 30, 2022, 09:38:05 AM »
@Grindspine - it was rough at 1st... or maybe dark is the better term.  I found Andor interesting... but still have to catch up.  I Think I'm at the point where you state that it's getting better.

Once I catch up a bit more (at Episode 3), a better review can be performed.  This series was of interest... as it delves into Cassian.  This character was of much intrigue after Rogue One.  It's great to see Disney+ expanding on that character.

@mastermario  LOL... you saw it 4 times?!  that's awesome.  I wish we would've at least seen it a second time in the theaters.  I really liked it... the flight scenes were awesome.  I want to see this one again

I have not yet... we just haven't watched it.  The trailers left us wondering... WHAT did we just see? lol.   ;D I think we are going to give it a view Friday.

So you liked it that much??  We are definitely looking forward to watching WEREWOLF by Night.

General Discussion / Re: She-Hulk: Attorney at Law
« on: October 17, 2022, 02:42:18 PM »
I liked the ending... though I'm not sure I like exactly how it was performed.   However, it was a "does everything have to have a super over dramatic fight?"  No... it can end without all that stuff in a semi-calm manner.  I Think it stepped back and made fun of themselves a bit... and are trying to show that she doesn't need all the chaos to have a good ending.

I liked the series... it was cool to see something done in a bit different light... though still processing how the ending was accomplished.

General Discussion / Re: Bring back games
« on: October 03, 2022, 08:06:45 AM »
Hey @mastermario Glad to see you!

Those game are LONG gone lol.  I mean... That was old forum and well before one of the upgrades that took away our customizations due to security issues.  Probably 2008-2009, I think.

However, I can take a look to see if they're available these days.  I doubt it... flash games are somewhat a thing of the past.

Nintendo - Switch, 3DS, and Wii-U / Re: Replacement Joy-Con Thumbsticks
« on: October 01, 2022, 04:36:11 PM »
Great Links and topic @CreepinDeth   This is a big help.

We took advantage of the Nintendo program over the pandemic in 2020 to replace at least 2 pairs of Switch Joy-Cons.  The drift.... was ... awful.  Honestly, I couldn't figure out at the time what replacements would be good... so I opted on shipping the Joy-Cons to Nintendo and letting them deal with it.  It was free... and the process was actually very quick.

I think the program is done now.  So far, our Joy-Cons haven't redrifted ... and the new pairs I did buy hasn't started to drift (honestly shocked).   I have to tools to do this plus many other tasks with screws this size, so I will take advantage of what you posted once I need to replace them again.

Good post!

The series has slowed down a bit... but episode 7 was very interesting.  We knew what was going to happen lol... easy to call IMO.

Anyone else still digging the series?

PC Rigs, Builds, and Peripheral Devices / Re: NVME SSDs Are Awesome!!
« on: September 29, 2022, 04:21:18 PM »
I've been using NVMe for awhile now between personal and business computers.  I started placing them in work desktops that we use as servers as well.  The performance is night and day.   If you go from SATA SSD to NVME SSD, you will still notice  a nice increase in performance... even more when transferring lots of files.  If you are going from any style magnetic disk to NVMe SSD... be prepared to be blown away.

I agree with you... so glad they made these drives.    The amount of data being transferred and stored keeps increasing.  Applications are constantly using more and requiring better performance.  IE... 15 years ago... you could get away with 7200 RPM Magnetic drives and they were good.  You could tell a big difference in performance from 5400 to 7200 or 10k that supported SATA formats.  Even back then, you would be able to open an application fairly fast.  But not at today's standards.

One awesome benefit of Solid State drives... you could take your laptop meeting to meeting... desk to desk... and not have a performance decrease.  Even with the HDD (magnetic disk) Accelerometers and free-fall detection protections (mitigated the risk of the head hitting the platter)... you would STILL have degraded performance in 1 year in laptops (and desktops in certain scenarios).

@CreepinDeth yeah... it looks very interesting.  I wish it had support for Steam Deck.  However,  I'm not sure how they would work out all the buttons.   I'm waiting on the price as well... but I might be tempted to pick up at the current price.

@Grindspine you should check this out.

Has anyone checked Starship Troopers: Terran Command out?   If so, what are your thoughts?  I’ve wanted a game like this ever since all the StarCraft mods / levels were created. I even created a couple at one point.

Starship Troopers: Terran Command - Steam

It looks interesting. I’m thinking about picking it up.  It also does not have Steam Deck support at this time.

Thoughts? Comments?  Post it up!
