I am also a shoot'em up fanboy. I will be picking this one up even though it is not my favorite. I am interested in collecting all the shoot'em ups that I can for the Switch.

General Discussion / Re: Star Wars: Ahsoka

@BLUEVOODU the whole series has been centered around Sabine Wren. It should have been called something else instead of Ahsoka.

@BLUEVOODU in the early comics Nick Fury was always the leader, or head, of shield. There was no Coulson. Coulson appeared in the MCU movies and quickly became a fan favorite. Disney seizing the opportunity to cash-in created a vehicle to use the character, wha-la "Agents of Shield" headed by Coulson, tv series was born. There were comics that came out after the series started airing that featured Coulson.

It doesn't bother me that it is not canon. I have enjoyed the Coulson character. It is too bad that they did not have cameos of Marvel heroes overlapping in the episodes and storyline. And the movies should have had more of an impact as I was trying to figure out which movie was going on at the time of the episodes I was watching.
I was disappointed in not seeing more mutants in the series. Maybe it was a matter of special effects and money?
It is a dark gloomy intense drama from start to finish. It makes a lot of sense to link the whole season together into one storyline. It creates a good continuity throughout the season as opposed to the traditional problem solved in a 45min episode. It's sort-of reminiscent of the old serials from way back.

I have enjoyed watching this. I have a couple of more episodes in the 5th season. They intended to end the series here at this point. Somehow, it was, out of the blue, renewed and a couple of more short seasons were produced. I am hesitant in my expectations of the last two seasons.
But I will watch them with one eye closed.  ;)

I thought that there were only going to be 6 episodes, but I am now finding out that there are eight.
At this point I am feeling like they misnamed the series.

General Discussion / Star Wars: Ahsoka

Has anyone started watching this series? I sort-of like this one, even though it does not specifically standout in the over crowded Disney Star Wars clutter. There is a certain something about it that has hooked me. I just hope they do not derail it in the following episodes. It doesn't have that Star Wars feel in it, but I think part of that is the drama aspect. And I think that is part of my problem with any of the Disney+ Star Wars series, other than the sometimes mediocre story telling, canon issues, or writing. Star Wars movies are mostly action orientated. I hope there is some real character development as the story unfolds. This seems to be focused toward her sidekick, Sabine, for the moment. But that is okay because it is causing us to get to know more about Ahsoka.

Who's watching?

You made me dig out my Animal Crossing for the DS. My Daughter and I played that one to death. When we found things that the other did not have we would give it to the other. I had one room of my house dedicated to gaming. I had arcade machines, pinball machines, gaming, pong table, etc. Then New Leaf came along and we did that one as well. I really need to get back into New Leaf. For some reason the Switch Animal Crossing killed it for me. There is just something about that version which does not draw me into the game the way the others did. I mainly focused on the house in my gameplay. I liked designing shirts and waiting to see the town folks wearing them.

I have the N64 Animal Crossing that was only released in Japan. I got the fan translated version from Ali Express on cart. It was ported to the Gamecube and released in the US, same game.

To me, Animal Crossing can be one of those games that really does not have an ending, you can play it forever.

@BLUEVOODU really I have settled in and it has become my daily. Everything is working out well. I am getting spoiled to the instant on boot up, that is fast. Really impressed with it all. I save my stuff to the SD card and with that I am satisfied. I can work offline with the google office, streaming works well, accessing everything that I need to. I am presently on a waiting list for 200 mbps net speed over fiber optics, unlimited data usage. Should have it up and going within the next few weeks. That will make an even bigger difference.

This has been a good option for me at this present time.

Happy Birthday!! from the golden age of gaming  ;)

@BLUEVOODU i am needing to get into this game again. I was pulverized by one of the bosses and never could get past him when I laid the game down. It is still in my N64. I just need to learn the pattern and avoid his hits. I think I was distracted by another game too on the NES.

@BLUEVOODU angry birds never stirred my interest. I have played games that involve the subject matter, but I never liked the gameplay.

Mentioning the PSvita stirs up some bad feelings toward SONY. The PSvita was the only console that truly drew me in to accept a console that was not a dedicated game machine. I did everything that the console was made for, got my email, Facebook, youtube, gaming, Skype with my Family when I was in czech republic on business trip, Netflix, got weather, crunchyroll, internet browsing, first time online gaming, used the camera, etc. I even enjoyed the feature where people let you into their lives on camera live, not sure what that was called. Then SONY just up and dropped support and then everything fell apart. It was quickly reduced to a game console only. What became my number one carry around, became a disappointment. I even invested in the Playstation TV. Now I just pull it out to play a fighter, or some other game occasionally. I played my first Persona game, and finished it, on the PSvita. I had it out recently playing BlazBlue: Continuum Shift. I was a big fan of this console and SONY just threw me down and stomped all over me. Or that is how I felt at the time. They just do not know how to market a handheld console like Nintendo does.

I like that English lady that works with Fury. And it seems like they put things together for the closure of the series. I expected something like a cliffhanger. I feel like it would have been better as a movie rather than a mini series, just me. I was satisfied with the ending I got. This is something that I would not go back and watch again. But,since every episode is up, I might binge watch the whole thing and see if I get a different feeling.

This will probably be a DVD purchase, or a Disney+ stream. We still do not have a local theater, but it is supposed to open sometime this summer. I really enjoyed the first one.

I did enjoy the 4th episode. My expectations are not very high that they will resolve everything that they have set in motion during this season. Is it possible that we will see that in the coming Marvel movies? Hopefully they will resolve this in a way that will be satisfying. Or push it in a direction that will give you a sense of satisfaction and your imagination will take over at that point. I do not know how this played out in the comics. I quit reading comics at the beginning of the 70's and I do not remember what was going on with the skrulls at that point. I remember the Fantastic Four having a battle with them. I am not expecting a season 2, but you never know with Disney at the helm.

So far with Agents of Shield, I like the show even though I have disliked where they have taken some of the characters and their relationship with each other. I hope they have some victories. Most of the writing so far has been gloomy and defeating to the characters.

If this series has only six episodes, I would have to say,"failure" at this point. Maybe I have misunderstood Nick Fury's character. He seemed to be someone who does not give up, but would always be forming a team to fight to protect the earth. There is just something about the way this series is being put together and unfolding that falls flat. For me at least.

Spoiler: ShowHide
Here I see an old man who has given up, weak has been. He is alone, mostly. He is literally crawling out of the shadows of what seems like despair? I thought that Captain Marvel flew out in front of the spaceship to find these aliens a home at the end of her first movie. What happened with that? And now we have over a million of these guys on earth? You would think that there would be more activity in recruiting on their part instead of being a two man team. Really, what good could they do?

Just so I can claim the title, "first post in July." Started watching Season two of Agents of Shield.

Okay now I get it. The two finger tap is used for a lot of different functions, depending on what the cursor is on. Highlight a word, cut and paste, on a photo, save as, on a link, open in a new tab, etc.

My reaction to the second episode,

"Well that just happened."

Not sure how to perceive this series. It raises questions more than anything else so far. It is my understanding that there are only six episodes.

I watched this over a week ago, when it first aired? I am interested in how this is going to play out. This is only an intro first show to set the ground work and direction of the series.

@CreepinDeth i agree with your spoiler. My reaction was, "What the....."

Okay..............
I just figured out the cut and paste. Two finger tap brings up a menu.

The Chromebook definitely has a place, not sure what kind of impact it is having on the laptop world. In 2021 zdnet had an article announcing Chromebooks dominating the PC market with 75% annual growth. In that same year it was said that they overtook MAC sales for the first time. I can see that happening, being the target marketing is toward schools and businesses.
I can say at this point that I am sold on the idea. I know some may have reservations just because google is behind the concept. I understand, I have the same feelings toward Microsoft and its Windows.
I have either found workarounds, for the things I need in a computer, or what has been supplied is sufficient. And if I need something special, I go to my MX Linux desktop, or my ole Macbook Pro. For the security online I will trust that to the Chrome OS for the next seven years and its updates. That is what I was seeking.
The Chromebook is fast up and going the moment you open it up. You are working in an instant. I have yet to figure out the cut and paste with a right click, so I just use the shortcuts on the keyboard. And if I want a picture from online somewhere, I just drag and drop it in a file. There is a learning curve, but once you get past that, everything becomes intuitive.
I would say that Chromebooks are a good laptop for Seniors. For casual computer users this concept would be a good choice if all you need can be found in a low powered laptop sporting 4gb of ram.

@CreepinDeth and yes it does remind me of my early days of exploring the use of linux too.

Started watching Agents of Shield season 1. This is my first time watching this series.
#25
I remember this and still have it. Used to play all the shmups on the PS1. I liked the Darius Gaiden for Saturn a lot better. Even the music was better.
#26
To be honest there were two concerns using this thing. One was 4gb ram and the other 64gb of storage. There was the fact that this laptop's processor was low powered too. So low powered that there is no fan, but it does not even get warm. I was conscious of these things going into this expecting at some point experiencing the result. But after digging into this Chromebook since May 26th, I no longer even consider or think about it. I have fully adapted to my daily tasks and routines to its use.
#27
Just made my storage space bigger. With a built in hard drive of 64gb, this should compliment it nicely. An extra 256gb will put my mind at ease.

I am determined.  :happydance:
So I am limiting myself to the Chromebook, on purpose, to learn. By doing that I am figuring out how to do things by using the Chromebook only. Today I did a drawing, scanned it in, and pulled it up into Concepts. Using this drawing program, I used my Wacom ONE tablet and colored the drawing using layers. Next I used an online drawing program, Sumopaint X, to add text to the drawing. I used two different programs because I knew I could do the task needed in each. I have only scratched the surface of how to use Concepts. I need to look up instructions and read, experiment, and learn more. I could have done everything in the online Sumopaint X. I keep digging into this Chromebook and finding more things it can do. I definitely can do Photo editing.

One thing I do know about the Chromebook, the 64-bit processor is the route to go. The experience is like night and day when comparing it to the 32-bit Lenovo I have. Even the online experience.  :great:

@BLUEVOODU i have a recumbent stationary exercise bike sitting in front of my TV. I exercise every afternoon. That is the time I usually watch something. After finishing 13 seasons of NCIS I have been trying to find something to take its place. I have been bouncing all over the place. I may try  Agents of Shield. I have never watched it. My Daughter was so into it when it first aired. She never would reveal any details in case I ever watched.

I had a concern on whether I could use my scan feature on my HP printer. None of the programs or apps had very good ratings. While searching I ran across the instructions of opening up the app menu and using the search function to type in scan. Chromebook has a built in scan program, or app, who knew. Works great, very satisfied.  :happydance: I a lot of times may sketch something with a lead pencil and paper. And I like scanning those in to work with using a Wacom tablet and some drawing program.
