Post by: BLUEVOODU on April 04, 2020, 03:32:34 PM
This is the Binge watching show topic.  We are all binging certain shows during the Corona-pocalype....  What are you binging?  What do you like and not like?

Post it up!

even though I am still working, I am watching Deep Space Nine. I never watched all of the episodes and I think I stopped watching it at some point during the original broadcast. So .........Dax and Worf married? I really never knew that, seems out of character for her.

That's definitely one that I didnt finish.   That's a great idea to revisit. I wonder if it's on prime.

We have been binging Monk and Psych.  Both are pretty funny and lighthearted... very good for a laugh and not too serious. I missed both of these while they were on air.

I think it might be time to watch the xfiles again...

Did anyone see monk and or psych?

Watched Monk some years ago. Very good show. I even purchased a couple of seasons that I found on ebay real cheap. They are still sealed. Going to need to break those seals soon.

I'm still working as well but we're absolutely dead. I've started watching the MCU in chronological order. I just started Iron Man 2.

I started watching Parks & Rec again, I love comedies. IT Crowd is another good one!

Defiance pulled me from the MCU marathon I'd just started on. I love some crappy SyFy series and as a crappy syfy series I've not been disappointed thus far.

lol parks n rec... that's another one we've been watching.  BALLER TIME.   I Think we are into season 3 or 4 with Monk now... out of 8... or maybe it was 9 seasons.   Still a way to go!

HM... I need to look into IT Crowd.

We are going to do the Marvel run this summer.  We have all be 2 of the movies - Black Panther and Guardians of the Galaxy 2.  We are going to watch them in the proper order over 2-3 days.   We did that with the Harry Potter's last summer.

I've been catching up on Grey's Anatomy. There's 16 seasons, and I've made it to season 11 now. I really enjoy medical drama type shows like that. I also have the boxed set of all of the seasons of House that I want to watch, but I'll probably do that after I finish Grey's.

I've not been a big medical drama fan but House was a masterpiece.

lol speaking of medical drama @Mai Valentine and @targetrasp ... Scrubs.... I miss that show.  It's a comedy though... not a drama.  I think we need to binge that.

@retro junkie We are almost done with all Monk seasons!

@retro junkie we finished Monk.  Pretty good ending ... I recommend.

Is anyone else binging?   Any other shows recommended?

@BLUEVOODU I finished Star Trek Deep Space Nine last week. I really did not like the last few Seasons due to the war with the Dominion. It put a somber mood over the whole series. And I did not like where they took a lot of the characters, and some were just out-of-character. Miles had the most dysfunctional family. Sisco and his son was the best representation of a family they had on the show apart from the Ferengi. I now know why I stopped watching the series during its hay-day. It is not that I cannot enjoy a continuous serial story plot that extends throughout a series, case in point, I am really into Star Trek Discovery. It takes some good writers to make it happen and not kill it for me. I don't think Deep Space Nine had that.  :(

I need to watch that series... if I am correct, it was a little rough from the episodes we watched lol.   But we need to re-watch it.    SO.... it sounds like you are recommending it  ;D

Just keeping in line with the Star Trek recommendations - Picard is awesome, and i'm not a huge Star Trek fan. The episode was free so i watched it then got CBS all access to get to watch the rest.

After i finish up the Seal Team episodes that i missed i'll have to check out Discovery. if it's as good as Picard i'll blow right through them.

not really dark but for star trek its a little dim...

She-Ra is another good one to binge if you're more in a cartoon mood. They also just put Avatar: the Last Airbender on Netflix.

Dead to Me is a great show as well, and they just put season 2 up.

I have started Star Trek: Enterprise. It is another one that I bailed on back then. It started losing me after they changed the intro song. And another series that had a war that dragged on and on and on.

@Mai Valentine ooo... I'm always down to watch Avatar: The Last Airbender.   Still an awesome series...and it finished back in 2008.  Legend of Korra was pretty good as well.   We will binge those series from time-to-time.

I finished Grey's Anatomy, and then the spinoff Private Practice. Both were pretty good.

I am working now on Arrow. I've watched Supergirl and the Flash so it's kind of neat seeing where all the Arrowverse stuff started.

Enterprise had a great cast and some great writing early in the series.  When they got into the "temporal cold war" story arc, the story made increasingly less sense.

Renee recently finished the Avatar animated series (the Airbender, not the blue people from the James Cameron film).  We have also watched a ton of Supernatural and Voltron on Netflix!

Even though it has cringe-worthy moments and some of the usual anime stereotypes, Hi-Score Girl has won me and my wife over. It still has some funny and real moments that make it enjoyable. I'd recommend it.

Ok lol... we might check out Hi-score Girl.   We have almost finished 30 Rock... it's been an interesting watch.

Ooo... last Airbender and Korra are awesome.  @Grindspine

I'm thinking about Star Trek Enterprise.  It might be time @retro junkie

@Mai Valentine - what is Arrow?

Legend of Korra has been announced for a Netflix release on Aug. 14th. Highly recommended. It does fumble a bit between seasons but recovers nicely. Still very solid.

shameless - 10 seasons on netflix - worth the watch if you're ok with raunchy ... don't watch it when the kids are up, or can walk in, or hear it...

If anybody is into adult humor, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia is very funny. Especially the first 5 seasons.

Superstore is also a decent comedy along with Brooklyn Nine-Nine. I wasn't a fan of Andy Samberg but I think he found a good role in Jake Peralta.

Community is also a favorite of mine. Starts off a bit basic but turns into an awesome comedy. NBC had some strong shows in the late '00's early '10's.

Russian Doll, The Last Kingdom, Master of None on Netflix are also decent.

What We Do In the Shadows is also decent. I recommend watching the movie first. It's directed by Taika Waititi.

If anyone likes sports, the new Michael Jordan Documentary The Last Dance is really great.

I am finding that I am enjoying Star Trek: Enterprise a whole lot more than I did way back then during its original broadcast. Not sure if it is because I am older, hungry for some scifi, or what. It is not as bad as I remember. I am in the 4th season at the moment.

The casting and acting were great, as are the connections to the other parts of the Star Trek universe.

However, the story arc of the "temporal cold war" just got convoluted.  I get the impression that writers add time travel when they run out of ideas to carry a story forward.

Caught up on Blacklist. Restarted Designated Survivor after watching part of Season 1 a couple years ago. Watched WestWorld (highly recommend). Catching up on Star Trek: Discovery and watched Star Trek Picard. Watched Ozark, Altered Carbon, Last Ship, Travelers, The Expanse.  Schitt's Creek was a pretty good comedy, too.

@CreepinDeth - I need to check out a couple of those.

@Grindspine legend of Korra and avatar are awesome.... I dig those a lot.

We are going to start watching Star Trek Enterprise next.  We finished 30 rock ... and something else... can't remember now lol.

@mastermario - what is Schitt's creek?? Lol...

@AngelBob what is IT crowd?  We haven't heard from you in awhile!

@BLUEVOODU i thought Star Trek: Enterprise was good up until the last season. The stories in the last season were two and three episodes long. It was frustrating because I am so used to the world being saved in 40 minutes. I couldn't believe they did that. And I did not like how they ended it, it was so abrupt. The whole season seemed like they had these ideas and they knew that this was the last season. Let's just throw a lot of these ideas together and do them. It would have been better if they had planned two more seasons.

@mastermario - what is Schitt's creek?? Lol...

HILARIOUS comedy show with Eugene Levy and his son along with the mom from Home Alone. 6 seasons and the show just ended. Basically it's about a rich family that lost all their money for whatever reason and they had to move to a town in the middle of nowhere called Schitt's Creek. They'd bought the town years ago as a joke and now it's like their only asset haha.

The city of Schitt's Creek is named after their mayor, Roland Schitt, who is married to Jocelyn Schitt lmao.

Started watching Lovecraft Country on HBO. Only 1 episode in but it's great so far.

I'm also on the last season of Korra. Next up is a Hulu original called Pen15. It is absolutely hysterical. It's about these two girls going through middle school/high school. If you've gone to school in the late '90's/early 2000's, this show will probably trigger some nostalgia. I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a comedy.

@targetrasp lol... IF YOU ARE DONE... you need to go back and watch all seasons of X-Files again... back-to-back.   It's about time to do that again.   I've done it a few times over all the years while studying and doing other things while the episodes have been on.

We started watching a few of the monk, Eureka, and Psych episodes again.  Of course... parks n recs.   Especially after crazy days but have studying to do and what not.  I'm trying to accomplish 5-6 more certifications.  I am 6 more IT certifications completed now (4 AWS - I acquired all Associate certification and cloud practitioner, and 2 Linux).   To come... 3 more AWS, Red Hat, Ansible, and another.  So.. we tend to repeat certain shows.

It really is time to catch up on Star Trek though... I keep saying that... but it's time.

@CreepinDeth -- I am not familiar with what that is... what's the show about?

@AngelBob @Kinikko --> it's been awhile since we heard from you.  What are you binge watching?
Title: Re: Binge-watching shows during the Corona-pocalype? Post it up

I've started watching x-files at least a dozen times but flame out.

I really dig those early 90's show but i always end up flaming out. I'll get a season or two in, not watch for a long time, forget where i was and really not want to start over but not spend the time trying to figure out where i left off. Star Trek TNG, X-files, Millenium, The Simpsons, Brisco County Jr, Parker Lewis Can't Loose, Saved By the Bell, Beavis and Butthead, are just some of the few i've spaced on.

X-files is probably the only one on that list I've not seen every episode of (there may be a TNG or two) so it's on the top of the queue for sure.

@targetrasp I have probably watched X-files all the way through 3 times.   the 1st time, I Was studying and doing a lot of stuff through college while binging them in the background.   There are so many good episodes.

I need to watch the Mandalorian... and more Star Trek.  We haven't finished Star Trek (mentioned before).

Mandalorian is definitely worth checking out. It's just a fun show. Even though Baby Yoda is all over the place outside of the show, in the actual show he doesn't have a ton of screen time.

Jon Favreau not only kick-started the Marvel Universe but has now revived the Star Wars universe.
