Nintendo Switch 2 vs Switch 1’s First Year

The Nintendo Switch 2 is already about a year old which is wild. Here is a comparison of Switch 1 and Switch 2's first year.

Switch 1 First Year:

Note: Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild is a Wii U game that was also a port for the Switch 1 launch, so I don't know if that counts. The same could be said for Mario Kart 8 and Pokkén Tournament, but I included them since they are rereleases with new content.

Switch 2 First Year:

Note: I only included some Switch 2 Editions because they added new content like Mario Kart Deluxe did for Switch 1, but I did not include all Switch 2 editions because some of them are just visually improved ports.

Overall, I think the Switch 2's first year is better than I thought after comparing Switch 1 to Switch 2. I think the Switch 2 wins the better launch year. What do you all think about the Switch 2 launch year? Are you all happy with the Switch 2?

Good post @Bomberman!  For sure, I agree the Nintendo Switch 2 Launch is better than the Nintendo Switch 1's launch.  Factor in that you can play all the Switch 1 games... it is primed to be an awesome system.  The performance increases are also notable - we will see how long those increases are noticeable and last in the future as games progress.

I think the Nintendo Switch 2 pricing has caused some of the slower adoption.  We are getting to a point where it will be more expensive to upgrade to the Switch 2 from the Switch... and Switch 1 releases will start to get slower.  Peripherals are also insanely expensive now (see topic).  They were pretty high with the Switch 1, but the Switch 2 Peripherals cost more.  A few of these reasons coupled together have caused a slower adoption of the Switch 2.

At the end of the day, I think the Switch 2 is going to start gaining a ton of steam.  The games launched have all been pretty good ... even down to Kirby Air Riders     I think it's going to be that cost, which who knows how how it will go in the near future, that slows up Switch 2 adoption.   The games are there.
