Holy crap I can't get into this game. It seems like it be something I'd be all about, and parts of my really want it to be something I'd enjoy, but for some reason I can't.

investment diversification has spread to everything from fine wines to comic books, why not video games

Gamestop.com has these things available right now. I bought another one just to save.

The shipping is free but they're gouging by charging 11.99 handling

so much has come out lately I've not powered mine on since February.

@Grindspine

Metroid is worth it.

it seems a good way to cut costs / push people to buy the collectors editions. Anymore there's at best a sheet telling you where to view the manual online.

Here's what will happen...

We'll finally get together, start some seasonal characters, get mid 20's (this is really optimistic) then the season will roll...

@SpartanEvolved

I've looked at the one on amazon a few times now, let us know how it turns out

The trend stopped sometime ago. I've got 3ds games like Adventure time and Pokémon Y that have books, Zelda Triforce heroes, Metroid Samus Returns, etc. does not.

Mobile is such a volatile platform. For every candy crush there's 202345420 other King games and 100 times that in clones. On minute your game is fire, the next your mom is playing it and you're already three games past it. At the pace it takes to keep relevant in the mobile industry I can see some Nintendo IPs getting stale. Yeah yeah, Mario is pushing 40 but the life cycle of a console game is so much different. Even with him (still using mario as an example) in multiple games (kart games, smash bros, party, platformer, sports...) Nintendo has some how managed to keep Mario fresh, relevant, and above all not played out. If we start throwing Nintendo royalty at every mobile idea coming and going it could be the death of a cash cow, if not the entire heard.

Mobile is money though. Nintendo could develop for mobile, just stick to stuff like pokemon go for their man IPs and throw some interns out coding what may be the next angry birds or candy crush. Use it to experiment with new ideas, gague reception, and bring those mobile games over to the land of consoles. Grab that crowd that fueled the wii's sales and bring them back. There's room for mobile just broaden it, don't pander to the crowd, make them pander to you.

it wouldn't be rigged if you didn't!

ok so I was quick to make a joke without actually qualifying BV's find. With a prime membership that's only 24 bucks. that's pretty fair for two games... although this current state in gaming seems a whole lot like with blu ray first came out. Half the stuff I was purchasing I already had / or have watched on dvd.  Secret of Mana, Burnout Paradise, Shadow of Colossus, God of War (not the new one) Mega man... it seems like in the last 6 months I've spent a good 30% of my purchases on rehashes of some sort.

Looks like things are starting to settle down again. The 1080 ti's are starting right around $1000 now, and the 1060's and 1070's seem almost what they once were. Ram is also in a decent spot again. 2x 8gb sticks floating in the $160 range. Best Buy's gaming PCs are starting to drop in price too. It looks like $800 ish will get you the bottom - mid range of what I'd consider a gaming pc.

If these prices keep sliding south I may be able to finally pull the trigger on that second gaming rig.

Happy birthday. Anyone who has an appreciation for the acting powerhouse that was the late great John Dunsworth deserves a great birthday.

I'm in. Fodder for BV's backlog tracker... anyone want to start taking bets on which will be available first?

Help / Issues / Re: Router Issues

It's esd protection. Since ICs are now sub 65 nanometers they're more vulnerable to ESD (smaller chips, more damage from shock). In a manufacturing facility that assembles all this crap I'd imagine the protection would be necessary, especially since cars have cameras, infotainment systems, more sophisticated ECMs, computers to apply brakes, computers to warn you when you're veering outside your lane, HUDs, etc.

I was kidding.
This stuff is real. I was just in a BMW plant where employees had to wear special shoes as part of the uniform. Absolutely no metal was allowed on the person after a certain point into the building. Everyone down to the drivers moving the cars from one side of the plant to the other had to abide.

EMI is about as much of an urban legend as ESD... Seriously, I think I've been able to ruien one stick of ram out of the 903402994300 that I've "mishandled."

i'm just going to chalk it up as a bum router. There's a lose wire, or a short inside it somewhere.

I didn't call tech support.

I have a lan scout and was able to verify all Ethernet cables were fine (I have to do this often as I make a lot of my cables and with the color conversion problems I have I constantly get the orange and brown wires switched)

I tried all four of the lan ports when the thing wasn't working and none worked, when the router is working they all work.

Antenna movement doesn't seem to do anything.

I've not moved the router since it's been working because it was a pain to get back going. I'm just now getting all my devices back connected, every echo, tablet, AP, etc. had to be reconfigured. On top of that banking and netflix and all those other sites what me to reverify my accounts.

Next time I'm out i'll grab a newer router then take this guy apart and find what's loose (swollen cap, bad trace, etc).

Wild thought - ever had a problem with magnets? The router was sitting behind my center speaker, but it'd been working for months so i orignally discounted the possibility.

" And I have liked it so much I purchased the second one in the series.
I find it a hard game to recommend.

Liked it but find it a hard game to recommend?

I lucked out on the Breath of the Wild Amiibos, I had such a hard time finding the guardian and by happenstance I walked by a clearance section in best buy. They had 3 or 4 of the Breath of the Wild Amiibos and I scored a Guardian for 12 bucks.

It blew my mind. These things are so hard to find in general, I couldn't believe something outside of animal crossing was on clearance. I can't even find these things used anywhere.

FortNite / Re: FortNite PS4 - How many of you play?
April 29, 2018, 12:35:12 AM
My son has tried and tried to get me to play this with him. He'll have some brilliant games, then he'll look like a typical 7 year old on others. He really enjoys it, and even gets pissy when he has a bad game (it's hilarious). At some point i'll probably break down and download it on my ps4 so we can play, it's just not grabbed my already scattered attention yet.

Help / Issues / Router Issues
April 29, 2018, 12:30:26 AM
Has anyone ever seen a router just stop DHCP? Anything already connect to it was fine until it was restarted (which makes sense to me). Same problem for both wireless and wired. Power cycling the network didn't work, swapping ports, all the tier 1 crap was unhelpful. arp -a showed every device on the network except for the gateway. Pinging devices gave a timeout general error.

After tinkering with the router a bit more i realized when i moved it around the 2.4 and 5ghz lights went on and off, as well as the lan lights and the internet light (which during this time all showed like they were supposed to). After moving it around a bit and watching the lights do funny things the "oops you're not connected" went to the initial router set up page. After rerunning the setup its working fine, or at least has been for the last hour. I am scared to touch the stupid thing in case it decides to go out again.

I'm thinking short BUT the power light stayed lit during all this. I couldn't really find somthing similar on Toms Hardware, but at this point i'm assuming the router is quickly becoming a toaster. Its an Asus RT-AC68U so there's newer but it's not super old. Has anyone ever experienced this? Any ideas what could be wrong?
#1044
good to hear, i'm about to start up the first one myself.
#1045
yup, and you can play it cross-platform

i guess xbone wont have any exclusives since their "exclusives" will likely be shared with the pc.

if you ever decide to try it out let me know, i've only touched it once and decided it would be awesome with a friend or two, but absolutely frustrating trying to find a group to coexist with.

I've talked myself out of the master chief collection so many times. I've been in Gamestop 3 times this week. Each time I've picked the game up, walked to the check out, and put it back down. Its still 30 ish with the discount for something that gamers aren't playing anymore. If it hits 20 i'll snag it.

Finished Ghosts a few minutes ago and just realized MW2 and MW3 are not backwards compatible on the xbone. Trying to decide if I want to dig out the 360 or start up xcom or Kameo.

Now I remember why I preferred the 360 over the ps3... The achievement system is so much more satisfying then the ps3's trophies.

I'm following my normal preorder the steel book - save the 70 bucks it'd take in tickets and food to take my two kids and myself...
#1049
Steelbooks are where its at. no way i'm paying 149 for some insane collectors edition that I may or may not see at Walmart for 30 on clearance (found a few of the halo games like this) Steelbooks just look cool and don't carry as hefty a price tag.

The COD kick continues - I blew through three more missions last night in Ghosts.
