They have a Lynx cart as well??  lol... what??
#1143
In case you are pre-ordering the Evercade from Amazon.com ... here is a pre-order link.  Your pre-orders via this link will help this site:

Even if you go to this link and decide to get other stuff... that will count as well.

IF you do get the Evercade... post up how you like it...etc... once you get it.

@targetrasp I hear you... in the past... I probably would've bought for something like that and hopes of future games.  However, they have to have more of an offering than Alyx for a $1000 piece of equipment.

I Think it looks really cool... but I'm also wondering if this VR will catch on.  In a way, its like the 3DS... there's many people that cannot use it.  Equipment like this is something I'd be all over in the past.  I dug the Virtual Boy for a couple of their games.  But again... people had issues with the Virtual Boy as well.

The design itself is great, but I'm not wild about that color scheme. Where is my all black controller?  :))
@Mai Valentine  -- LOL... all black including black lights?
#1146
you know... I really want to pick this up @Mai Valentine   I tell you... I missed it the 1st time around... I played it a bit when I had the shop and would watch friends play it as well.  However, I never really did own it.    With the remake, I'm looking to buy this at some point.

So you think this game is worth it?  How about time to play... does it take a lot of time investment?

I figure @Grindspine @targetrasp and maybe @Jack would be very interested in this.  Maybe @retro junkie as well.

what's left?

No need to answer, it's rhetorical and slightly sarcastic.

A hand picked TG 16 library of 40-50 would still have 20ish games I'd only spin up once or twice

YEAH... but Duo games as well?  ;D

They shouldn't technically be running out though.  2-3 weeks after employees are sick... they should be able to returning barring they are further I'll... and hopefully not.  Then immunity sets in.  They're still trying to figure out how long term effects are affecting the body. Some are starting to show lung and heart issues from what I read... which virus can perma damage your body. So maybe it's not that easy.

Hopefully we can get over this bump and get back to normal by summer without a wave 2.  Spanish flu wave 2 was the deadly one.

Lol I might look into the steel book as well.

Not to digress here... but...

Beastie Boys, eh? Lol...   we were down at Ball State visiting @SpartanEvolved  many years back.  He wanted to do karaoke...  and so I mentioned beastie boys... fight for your right (to party).  I got the "no one listens to that anymore" response.  Probably showing my age, but since when has that not been a party song?  It was well before my college time and As far as I'm aware, it's still a party song.

@retro junkie  it really does appeal more to younger generations. Many do not want the inconvenience of housing and storing tons of physical games and more-so lately... I understand this. I've always been a game hoarder.   But in the last 10 years... my steam library grew faster and more than any of my physical collections. I've even contemplated getting rid of other game collections I've acquired - i.e. my Sega Saturn.

You make good points on the connection speeds.  And I really think this is improving across the nation in most places.  More improvement is required though.

This definitely has some appeal and I hope they deal with how to play games offline.  Maybe that's not a concern for many gamers anymore.  I've always liked an option to play offline in case.  There also some times I just don't want to play online. But most Blizzard games and many other platforms require you to have a constant connection.

I'm interested to see how Cloud Gaming progresses. There's a good chance for it to take off.

@targetrasp hm....
Hmmm......  Man....  You and @retro junkie make good arguments lol.  I get the appeal... and the cart based games is a cool feature.

What about links?

You know what I really want?  Nintendo 64 player on the switch.  Posting a topic on that soon.

@MegaDrive20XX what's your take?  Have you seen this?

And don't forget... you can help this site with hosting and future upgrades by using the ads if you buy it off Amazon... shameless plug.

Lol... well. I ended up winning with an oar fish.. 218".

I haven't done one of those fishing tournaments since Wild World.
#1154
Who is excited for this ... and 1st day buyers?  Do you think it will be delayed with the corona virus plaguing us right now?

I'm pretty pumped for it and what it'll have to offer.  I'm not necessarily watching any certain titles right now.   The current generations of hardware still feel like they have a couple years of life in them.  I could be wrong... I get the ps4 is 6 years old.

I'm still pumped.  What's your thoughts on this?  Post it up!
#1155
There's an Animal Crossing:  New Leaf fishing tournament today. Is anyone participating?

I know it's the old version on 3DS... but if you're doing the tournament...  post it up!   Also post up your largest fish.  So far, I've caught a 42.75 inch Sea Bass

Warzone recently came out... and is a decent mode.  I've played it a little bit, but don't know if I like it as much as Black out introduced in Black ops 4.

@mastermario @Grindspine and @SpartanEvolved and I have been playing here and there.  I need to play a bit more.    Quads was just released as well.

Who else plays this?   Are you getting into the new mode?    I still like playing the standard Call of Duty modes better... but these are fun at times.  Post it up!

Cloud Gaming / GeForce Now - Cloud Gaming
April 11, 2020, 01:41:19 PM
Continuing on with the Cloud Gaming topics...  I'm going to start highlighting some of the services.  In this topic, we are exploring GeForce Now.   I have not signed up for the service and won't be during the beer virus-pocalypse... however, This looks interesting.

Here is a link to the service:  GeForce Now - Cloud Gaming

Do we have any members using this yet?   @trkorecky @Polygon @CreepinDeth   Not sure if any of you do or not.  If you have... please post up your experiences.

From what I've read, GeForce Now is one of... if not the leader in cloud gaming at this time.  You have to own the games... all digital of course.  You can play them from "the cloud to your laptop, desktop, Mac, SHIELD TV, or Android device."

Check out the FAQ:
GeForce Now FAQ

So... has anyone tried this?  what are your thoughts?  Are cloud gaming services the future?  Post it up!

Cloud Gaming / Cloud Gaming - The Future of Gaming?
April 11, 2020, 01:39:49 PM
IN THE CLOUD...  It's been the slogan for data centers, applications / Software (SaaS), services, infrastructure (IaaS), and many other aspects of IT.   Now we have Gaming in the cloud.. or Gaming as a Service (GaaS)?  Is this the future?

This is more than just a Steam platform... this is essentially taking the hardware and processing of the game out of your living room, console/PC... and placing it in the hands of those running the cloud service.   You just have a monitor device and "controller" to connect to that service... and your monitor / screen  just feeds you the visual of what's happening.  All the processing of the game happens in someone else's datacenter.   It's certainly different... but that means entire monthly service contracts to use the service instead of owning the console or pc.  Certain services are gaining more popularity... but this hasn't fully entered the main stream yet.

What are your thoughts?  Is this the way of the future?  It certainly is for many companies moving their datacenters and workloads into the cloud.   But what about gaming?

Thoughts, comments?  Post it up!

@retro junkie I used to play this game ALLLLLLLL the time.   It was a quick, fast, and somewhat fun filler game.    I've had a lot of fun with it  ;D

Maybe we need a Zoo Keeper topic.
#1160
I hear you... I'm going to break this out more in the summer.   I really want to get into Collection of Mana.  I just haven't played much since it came out.

I'm working to take a week off here shortly.... it's been awhile since I've taken a break.  Once that happens, I will break this out for at least one of the days.  It will be a staycation.

LOL... Zoo Keeper for the win!  Nice Comparison.  That screen does look decent... but it is small.  The Neo Geo X... I will try to post about that screen.   I need to find it...   yeah... I lost it somewhere lol.
#1162
lol.. I read this and was thinking of @mastermario   ... if I'm right, he was playing this.

Accidental Cross-play makes Star Wars 'Jedi Academy' a console bloodbath - Engadget.com

So it appears veteran PC Players have been finding a way to make it to the remastered Console version and wrecking Console players.  Is this a case where Console players just need to play better?   OR is it truly unfair and a disadvantage?  I found this article to be pretty funny.

Thoughts? Comments?  POst it up!
#1163
LOL... how is that a Gamestop employee going to work?
#1164
@AngelBob A zoo... that's a great idea.

We've been working on a farm... and in survival, building real houses and buildings ... instead of just creative.  But that's been hard to get started with ideas.   It's way more challenging in survival.  I Started creating certain polished blocks to start making a really cool castle or something like that.

That controller looks nice... that's a very cool design.   I'd really like to buy a PlayStation 5 1st day.

I'm hoping ... per the reports... that all PS4 games are immediately playable... and PSN games can be available on the PS5 system that you had on PS4.   That would be awesome.      I only have the 1 article stating PS4 games will work on the PS5... but I didn't see anything about PSM yet.

That's a USB connector, right?   man... this makes me want to break out my old Neo Geo CD and AES.  I haven't played them in 3 years - CD.... and 1 year for AES.

Re-reviewing the screen... how well does it look on it?  The Neo Geo X was a little odd at times... but still looked decent.  I wonder how it compares.  I've also bought a couple Neo Geo games on the switch.  They look good on it... and did pretty good ports to the screen format.
#1167
@AngelBob yeah... this is pretty crazy.   I'd really like try this out.

I don't have the PC version of Minecraft yet...  I Think I'm going to get it at some point.  Just PlayStation versions and pocket.

@targetrasp do you have any links?   Post up some links / reviews if you have a chance.

I hate to say... I don't think I want another device playing 8/16 bit games.  I have several now.

#1169
yeah... the way this year is shaping up.... December will be here in no time.   ;D

I HOPE the add more games for the wait.. he he
#1170
yeah.. Ikaruga is one of my favorites.   Very challenging game.   Now I want to break this game out.  They ported it to the Switch.... I think I might pick it up there in the near future for some handheld Ikaruga AWESOMENESS.

If we don't have it...I Think we need an Ikaruga topic lol.
