I've not played a DW game since the ps2. I'm definitely going to revisit the series after this review.

I've heard it long before PUBG was a thing, but I've yet to recall where from in pop culture. A google search is littered with the Vegas bet being about the price of the chicken diner during whenever it was a meat and 2 veggies was 2 bucks, and oh yeah, PUBG. I can't think of one instance (nor was Google of help) where I've seen or heard this in pop culture, although I know it's been there my entire life.

you can do a lot of good things with spinach when chicken is involved.

Google - I mean c'mon, it was added to the Oxford English dictionary as a verb about a decade ago, it seems unnatural typing anything else. I used to like ask jeeves because you could search by actually poising the question but Google stole the idea and made it better. The last straw was the ask toolbar. I only use Bing accidentally until I realize I haven't changed the browser after a fresh windows install.

Samurai Showdown, Art of fighting (can't remember which one) alpha mission 2, nam 75, and one of the world heroes for the aes and mvs was a couple of KOFs (I think the cabinet was actually kof 2) nam 75, samurai showdown 2, and one or two others I can't remember off the top of my head.

I actually gave the cabinet (I think it was the same one, I had one or two off and on) to my half brother for safe keeping when my kids mother started "making room" and danged if he didn't sell it off.

He's more than made up for it years later but I really miss playing nam 75 on a cabinet.

Star Trek is entertaining (and some of the movies are quite good) but it's seems to blur the lines between space opera and soap opera. Star Wars isn't nearly as Susan Lucci about things.

I just unwrapped it about 830pm today. I played for about a half hour, and realized I'd never played this game before. I swear I thought I had but I had it confused with the Secret of Evermore.

I really need a map now

It took me forever to get a gamecube.

I ended up taking my entire Atari 2600 collection, 300 nes games, and about 25 snes games as well as a bevvy of controllers and randomness to a person with a used game shop and bringing back a gamecube, a neo geo aes, and a single slot mvs cabinet and about a dozen aes and mvs games on top of some other crap I was looking for (ogre battle, panzer dragoon saga, conkers bad fur day, etc.). Dollar for dollar it was as close to an even trade as I could figure. They needed inventory and I got to cherry pick. This was 2002 - 2003ish, probably a good year or two after the cube released.

I had an awesome cd collection once, the someone decided he wanted it, and the speakers in my trunk... now i'll pick up something at a used book store every once in a while but the collectability of vinyl has really piqued my interest. I've grabbed up a lot of 80's hair and metal, and 90's grunge and punk.

For the rereleases I've got tons from Amazon. They have been pretty cool about giving digital copies with vinyl as well, it making listening in the car much easier!

I've had to blacklist Facebook at work. There's not a work computer that can access it. outside of crowdstrike going nuts every few days over crap the employees were clicking on we were losing at least an hour a day per employee. I assumed people would start using HMA or some other VPN service to access facebook, Netflix, etc. on their computers, instead these fools started bringing in their cell phones! Now I have to write up people every time I see them with their phones, but it a lot easier than dealing with the viruses and other crap.

They always had the coolest displays, them and EB at the mall. I remember begging for a jaguar, a 3d0, and a neo geo.... never got any..... the 3d0 and neo geo was over 600 each and I think the jaguar was like 250... insane for early 90's

The rare replay is fun in small bits for a jaunt down nostalgia lane but it has very little staying power.

Take my critiques with a grain of salt as my video game A.D.D. is in full bloom

I have a feeling i'll get into this game. I've bought so much lately that just not captured my attention it's about time for something to do it for me.

I just drove by Asheville's one toy's r us and it there was a half dozen cars in the parking lot. It's sad. When I was a kid going to toys r us was a huge deal. The place was crowded, a dood in a giraffe costume was handing out promotionals and there was wall to wall kids. now it's nothing...

I think facebook users are giving their data away free to start with. I also think Facebook is the barrel and the users are the fish and all any malcontent has to do is shoot.

Ever since I've lived in this town I've watched shop after shop come and go. They'd be the hottest thing out for a year or so then they'd slowly die off. Businesses like Starbucks would come in a buy up all the small coffee shops but at some point a small faction of caffeine junkies revolted and started supporting the little places where the baristas could do cool designs with the frothed milk.

Now that micro brews are huge, the big guys are coming in to get back their market share.. Sierra Nevada just opened an east coast brewery 10 minutes from me, and one of the best local breweries just got purchased by Anheuser-Bush.

I really don't know what point I'm trying to make other than it seems like the small guy is almost always bought out or run out of business by the bigger guy, who in turn creates some sort of backlash that brings out a more refined version on the little guy that costs too much so we're back to square one buying PBR from Wal Mart.

posting at 1:21 AM is a bad idea

something like this needs to happen. I'm tired of there being no crazy big reveal. Everyone is so afraid that the internet is going to guess the twist before the writers write it they're writing NOTHING. Sure, a million will say "we saw it coming" but dang, it's better than Character A really isn't related to character B and character C from either the EU or the original trilogy isn't going to be in this year's flick.

Take a page from the Clone Wars or Star Wars Rebels cartoons. Thrawn and Asokah are awesome, use them.

General Discussion / Re: Star Wars The Last Jedi
March 19, 2018, 01:00:35 AM
It added more Jedi powers. force projections, tangible ghosts, and mind melding without the pointy ears! It added a new desperation for the Rebels, and it made Kylo incredibly unpredictable. He could have any role in the next movie and I'd believe it. Darth's face-turn was endearing but how satisfying is it when a bad guy you've despised for an entire trilogy gets his punishment? Snoke getting the saber wasn't all that good for me since he'd only been a complete monster for a few scenes. I wanna see Kylo chop up force babies, kill rebels, cut off Rey's legs, you know, run amok for a while, then get dismembered Anakin style and left for dead only to be picked apart by the native wildlife. But, if he does go the way of his grand pops it needs to be so him and Rey get together and have force babies. Jana and Jacyn (I forgot how the eu spelled the solo kids names) still need to happen.

Last Jedi did a lot to try and cut ties with the original players as well as the Jedi religion as written in the book of Lucas. Now if they'd only stop trying to get one of every race and body type in the cast and just throw in more aliens.

And really, as much crap as Hamil spewed about Star Wars for so long what did he expect? He didn't age well enough to have an Obi Wan-esque role and he shot his mouth off for years. Ford talked crap and got his too...

The only thing I see going cart is portables, and they've always been cart outside of the failed UMD.

I'd much prefer cartridge but they're still more expensive than a little plastic and aluminum (or whatever metal film they use) and probably will be for a long time. There's still shorter wave length lasers to read disks so the tracks can get even closer... green ray anyone?

That's just it... Sony started BluRay and all of a sudden they believe that people were only buying digital......

General Discussion / Star Wars The Last Jedi
March 18, 2018, 11:02:52 PM
Anything outside of the original trilogy has been heavily debated and been torn to shreds by most. George Lucas was so evicorated for the prequel trilogy he said to hell with it i'm done making star wars movies. Thanks to a 4billion dollar investment from Disney we have a whole new set of movies to complain about...

On their own they're all good movies (even episode 1 when you learn to tun out Jar Jar) but Star Wars is like heroin. It'll never be as good as the first time, we're all chasing the dragon.

I'm glad Last Jedi did veer away from the formula of small band of rebels faces incredible odds trying to blow up a word killer weapon the Empire has constructed.

I'm still dissapointed with the character development. It seems more time was spent making sure a cultural and ethnically diverse group was selected than to actually create engaging characters. I've yet to decide if its just the cast or the writing.

The story as a whole is great, much better than the Force Awakens. The Last Jedi actually added something to the Space Opera that is Star Wars. Rain Johnson left plenty of room to build on.
I'm just waiting for that Empire Strikes Back plot twist that hasn't happened in 6 movies now...

I'm still praying Sega comes back to the hardware market. It would be a miracle since their first party games are mostly gone or crap. Total War and Football Manager is all it seems they have going for them that's newer. I love Valkyria games but that last one really didn't do anything for the franchise and I've seen nothing new outside of that since the ps3.
#1167
i'm so irked they still didn't put a 4k blu ray player in the ps4 pro...

going back through the two mega man legacy collections available for nearly 10 each is a much better call

The Last Jedi. I never went to the theater to see it, instead I preordered but the last 3 star wars movies were released on digital 10 days before a physical copy was available. That works out well for you, there's another Amazon commission...

General Discussion / Re: First World Problems
March 18, 2018, 10:14:56 PM
Everyone who said hdmi switchers were crap was right. I'd assumed the switchers have come a long way (and honestly they have) but there were still noticeable problems. The picture was great, no issues there, but the sound cut out often enough to be annoying.

As such, my Sunday was spent ripping everything out and starting all over. I used a 4k pass-through receiver and put my old speakers (left right and center) in a row like a gigantic sound bar and reconfigured the receiver for  left, center, right, and  sub.

The subwoofer mad a God-aweful noise every time I hit. I thought somehow the speaker was blown so i took it apart to see if maybe i could switch the speaker out. It turns out someone had put everything from hotwheels to tennis balls in the port on the cabinent. A ball from a ball pit had even partially melted against the amp.

Now all i really have left is to program all the activities in my harmony remote and my nightmare bedroom project will be over.
