too little too late on the online sales front.

When they started trying to sell online the sight was atrocious and nothing worked right.

I think this trend of brick and mortar retailers shuttering will continue until the online shopping trend changes (and it may not). Small, high touch boutique retailers will probably gobble up the small niche left for those looking for personal service but lets be honest. Any big box retailer has nipped costs so much that you might as well be shopping online. When's the last time someone at home depot or Lowes offered their assistance? When was there a manned video game counter in a toys r us? The only benefit left is being able to physically hold the box or getting your item same day. Even same day service has turned into a problem. When my washing machine broke I walked into best buy asking what I could leave with that day... there was nothing. It'd take 2 days to have something shipped to the story. The kid wants this crazy huge lego set, chances are it has to be ordered. Retailers have screwed themselves

CD Add-ons were a failure. I find it more than coincidental that every hardware manufacturer that attempted a CD add on is no longer in the console business. When the SNES CD flopped Sony would have walked away from making consoles. Without Sony in the landscape, Sega might have lasted past the dreamcast. Hardware manufacturers might have even abandonded the cd format alltogether.

I finally picked up Burnout Paradise Remastered and have played it for a few minutes now. I'd probably play more but I'm gonna get star wars on digital and spend the rest of the night nerding out.

I still can't get used to talking about a sega game on a Nintendo console...

it feels dirty - like the straight A squeaky clean cheerleader dating the barely passing burnout.

it has the look of mega man but not the spirit. I bought it, played 10 minutes of it, and was meh.

my hopes is when they do crash (and surely they will) that the hardware manufacturers don't decide to keep their prices up.

I can bet you any revenue based meeting the discussion boils down to how are we going to hold our prices when the bubble bursts and how are we going to keep our competitors from slashing theirs?

Sure, we'll see a drop, the distribution outlets won't be gouging so hard but I'd be surprised if we see hardware back to early 2017 prices.

I keep forgetting about these games - great addition

this needs to happen.

In a business environment where the line level employee is close to minimum wage, where byod isn't an option, and / or supplying everyone with smart phones isn't feasable - the only economical option is a tablet. In my experience in a faster paced environment a tablet is often times just too big. Something pocket sized that cheaper than a phone but has scanning, data entry, wifi, can run apps and can take pictures would be perfect.

still trying to go pick mine up,

is there a multiplayer experience and is it good?

I'll be a lot of developers will scale back pushing graphical limits for a while.

Splurging on a graphics card now is nearing a house payment

I'll watch it but I really can't get into the Newt Scarmander character. He's just doesn't give me that main character vibe. People have called out this character for a number of reasons but I just can't get behind his lack of charisma. He's a side-kick at best.

I couldn't really tell, but my post count wasn't anything to brag about so i'd be the same thing for months.

I like the look of the race car styled chairs but if its anything like actual racing seats they're horrible! I spent a lot of time during late teens early 20's putting crap like that in whatever I was driving and it was a huge sacrifice in comfort.

While i've not tried one I can see that a nice leather executive chair is super comfortable and would be hard for me to give up. I may buy one of those chairs for the kids and play test it just to see how it feels.
#1184
I thought that was cool, although I could never figure out if there was a hierarchy to it or if it was just a bunch of randomness
#1185
ha, I forgot and bought it anyway, its still in the glove box of my car

I gave up on finding the broadcast monitor unicorn years ago...

Emulation would be fine if it wasn't for all those wonderful light gun games...

Be careful taking pictures in a public restroom...

They should start producing crts again, I really want to play house of the dead on the dreamcast with the guns

General Discussion / Re: First World Problems

I purchased launch versions of each console and then purchased the 4k versions when they came out. VR took over the living room so one of the xbone and ps4s went to the bedroom. I could give up the fire tv and use one of the aps on the xbone or ps4 but i'd miss out on the automation tied in with alexa.

I think at this point I should just buy a bigger house, put vr in the kids room and get my living room back.

If you have the last post does it stay lit, even though you last posted?

Gripe and Moan time

TV Manufacturers are slowly but surely cutting out the number of inputs on the television while the amount of connected devices per television is going up.

I could care less in my living room... A receiver chews up everything and spits it out all in one hdmi output to the television but in a bedroom where i'm trying to minimalize this is painful.

I ditched a huge entertainment stand for a small floating one. i got rid of a 5.1 channel receiver for a decent 3.1 sound bar. I even bought a newer, larger tv, that has a smaller footprint because theres no beezels.

The problem now is there are 3 hdmi ports and a component. i have 4 4k devices and 3 1080p devices AND my hdmi switcher is only 1080p. a 4k switcher is not in the cards yet sooooo i'm either stuck with going back to the receiver or not using a 4k device...

maybe the cable box can be plugged into the hdmi switcher, its not like anything is broadcast in 4k anyway..

but still tv guys, why go with less inputs. it CANT be that much more expensive to make. The old people you're worry about confusing has their kids put these things together anyway, or pays geek squad.

now that you mention it at least 2 indicators have stayed on since I read everything... ooh first world problems

General Discussion / Re: Video Game Voice Actors

Colleen Clinkenbeard - When I heard her voice in Boarderlands I thought it was about time. Sure, she'd been in a few others, mostly doing her DBZ characters but this girl is the queen of anime and barely tapped for video games...

Claudia Black - big farscape fan so she's another top for me.

I switched to the theme everyone else was using and the little circles next to the topics now work like they should (different color when somethings new) and well everything else we talked about
#1196
I think it's just an issue of nomenclature. when using a different theme "unread" doesn't exist. there's recent unread topics and updated topics. I'm wondering if Manas just had it mis-named.

Cautiously optimistic.

Sega hasn't brought pso2 to the states on the PS4, why would they localize it on the switch?
#1198
well if I run out of games to buy I'll be sure to get Bomberman R

sounds good. The closest thing to a diner here is Denny's and Waffle House. My idiot city has labeled itself a beer and food-topia so "greasy spoons" are taboo. Ever since NC stopped allowing indoor smoking even Denny's and Waffle Houses have been shuttering.

Sunday I found myself in BestBuy buying a 4k TV. While I didn't visit the restrooms I looked around and noticed why the restrooms are terrible, there's a 10:1 male to female ratio working there. In my retail experience men are terrible restroom cleaners. Anywhere I've worked with clean restrooms can be blamed on the female employees. Even when there's a restroom cleaning schedule, men are just terrible at keeping a public restroom clean.
