Tales of the Jedi was just released too, which is a nice companion piece to The Clone Wars series.  That series is short enough to binge in one evening, but has nice backstories for Count Dooku and Ahsoka Tano.  Disney is really doing a great job of world building and filling in all of the little gaps!

LOL good topic... I unfortunately DON'T have Halloween jokes. This one will work:

A Skeleton walks into a bar... orders a beer and a mop  ;D

Nice! I had forgotten about that one.

Did you hear the one about the gravedigger?

He found out that he was in a dead end career...He was always buried in his work.

What did the banshee serve with crackers at her Halloween party?

This one started out as a pretty slow burn.  However, the writing gained momentum and smoldered the tension at a consistent build throughout.

There were no Jedi, no force users, and there was only one droid really featured in the earlier episodes. This was a departure from the regular Star Wars formula. This one was more gritty and more dramatic than most Star Wars releases.

The acting was top notch. The cinematography was immersive. I thoroughly enjoyed this series!

I have to restate; the acting was phenomenal. There were no bad actors and no poorly acted scenes throughout. This was one of the most solid things I have seen in a while.

SSDs were no-brainer decisions for laptops; faster read, write, and random access times, better resistance to shock than spindle drives, lower power consumption, and lower heat output. My gaming laptop has one m.2 drive and one SATA drive. I don't think there is a single thing on the SATA drive in that.

I remember feeling the tangible difference between SATA III SSD, 10,000 rpm Velociraptor, and 7200 rpm Barracuda drives.  My main desktop still has all 3 drives. My gaming laptop has m.2 drives and loads things even faster. Hard drive speed makes such a huge difference!

And Christian Bale was a great villain.

That was the thing that kept my interest through the movie. I expected the villain to be lame, but Bale delivered the goods!

So far, it seems a worthy Lord of the Rings series. I am enjoying it more than the Hobbit trilogy and far far more than the animated Hobbit.

Prime also has Wheel of Time coming out later this year for its second season. Netflix has another season of The Witcher as well. It is a good time for high fantasy type movies and shows!

Rebels leads up to Rogue One. One of the ships from Rebels, the Ghost, is visible in the battle over Scariff. Also, the Ghost's astro-mech, CH-1P "Chopper" appears in the base before that battle. Finally, "Captain Sindula" is called over the PA system at the base, tying in both Star Wars: Rebels and referencing the Sindula family that fought to free Rhyoloth.

The main character in Rebels was born the same day that Leia and Luke were born, so it takes place about 16 years after Episode 3.

Ahsoka was pretty much a child in the early Clone Wars episodes. She is a young adult by the end of season 7. This would put her in her thirties in Rebels and around forty by The Mandolorian.

Retro, the first episode is, well, it is Star Wars, but the first few seasons do start slow.

I really liked what they did with the Obi Wan story.

From watching Star Wars: Rebels, I saw scenes where he is still on Tattooine years later. It was a fresh part of the story seeing him in the uncertainty of his place in everything, then having to face his past. I also thought the casting was exceptionally good.

Knowing the end of a story does not always bother me. Afterall, Halo: Reach is one of those games where you know Reach will fall, but it was still great to play the story through to that fall.

Renee found a shadow box of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night pixel art!

I also got the NES and SNES Classic.  It is kinda funny because I have an original NES, SNES, and Genesis still too. I was never sold on the PS1 though; Sony had so much backwards compatibility that it did not seem that necessary.
#134
I mean, it does look like a cool console. Sonic CD is a pretty necessary game library title. I am not seeing much beyond Sonic CD that really nails it as a must-have console though.
#135
I bought the Genesis Classic for Renee a couple of years ago. I really think that she has only played it twice though. I have an original Genesis console in storage at the moment. I am pretty sure that her brother still has the games for it somewhere at their mother's house.

It sounds cool, but I do not know if I could rationalize spending money on another revamp of the console.

I donno if it needs its own thread, but the Netflix Resident Evil series is great so far. I binged seven episodes last night!

Disney Plus has it all.

The animated movie is meh, okay.  It introduces the character of Ahsoka though.  She really starts off as Anakin's bratty padawan and really does not grow up and become a respectable character until about the 3rd season.

The clone troopers Rex, Cody, Fives, Heavy, Gregor, and Jesse are worth noting. Their stories really fill out during the course of the series and culminate at the end of season 7, which coincides with the end of the Clone Wars and Order 66.  Ahsoka, Rex, and Gregor also show up in Star Wars: Rebels; those stories lead right up to the Rogue One movie.

The series as a whole does have some tedious story arcs, but all of it goes better as the seasons progress and each character's story becomes more complete.  The Bad Batch is really a spin-off of a special group of clones that is introduced in one of the later seasons.  The Bad Batch is not essential viewing at this point, but a good spin-off story.  With the tie-ins to Episode II, Episode III, and Book of Boba Fett.  I would consider the later seasons of Clone Wars to be highly recommended to help give more depth to the main storylines.

This video is a pretty good summary of what happened in chronological order. The motivation makes a bit more sense when things are in that order.

That video is pure art.  I miss the days when the internet was more about stuff that happens when one star wars fan has vision, and empty apartment, and minimal video editing skills.

10/10 will watch it on repeat play.

For a while back in 2010 or so, Target had Monster component video GameLink series cables for Wii, PS2, PS3, and 360.

If I recall, I have a Monster Gamelink HDMI cable (white with black weave, matches early xbox 360 aesthetics), a Monster PS3 component cable, a Monster GameCube S-video cable that works with SNES, N64, or GameCube, and even a Monster-branded hybrid PS2 / Xbox S-video cable.

I have a full Rubbermaid storage bin full of A/V cables.

Hah, no RF switches here. I do have an S-video switcher, but right now it is just the PS2 on component and SNES on S-video.

My oldest pet was my catfish, Blink, who passed away a few months ago at 17 years old. That is a long time for a small catfish! This TV is currently on year 16 of still working with no apparent issues.

I mean, you are entitled to an opinion.

The movie just made no logical sense. The character development... well, there was no character development...

That TV has survived since 2006 through 4 apartments and a house.  Bluevoodu actually helped me move it twice!

Retro Gaming and Hardware / Retro gaming Sony WEGA!
June 02, 2022, 08:30:40 PM
So, back in 2006 I bought a Sony WEGA flat screen CRT.  I have used it for years through a DVD changer, PS2, SNES, PS3, Xbox, and 360 and it still looks great.  It was one of those peak of CRT technology ones that had a component input along with S-video.

Over the last few years, my home theater/dvd changer died (during a move) so the TV has mostly sat unused since 2019.  I figured that it was time to get a new Dolby Pro Logic II capable receiver and get everything hooked up.

So, I currently have the PS2 on component video and optical digital TOSLink audio through a 5 channel Sony speaker system... and it looks and sounds so wonderful.  Tekken Tag Tournament, Tekken 5, and even old SeaLab 2021 (so last year) DVDs look and sound phenomenal!

Now I am just debating if I should keep the SNES on S-video or move my OG Xbox to S-video and TOSlink audio by way of the Xbox HD breakout pack.

Quote@Grindspine  --> Good advice, I think we will do that soon.  We were watching the seasons at one point.  We made it to 3 I believe, but other stuff took over.  Clone Wars need a topic.

Seriously, The Clone Wars only gets better.  I still cringe a bit at the movie and the first season.  The story really starts getting deep with the Mandalore story arc (Obi-wan's almost lost love story) and the backstory on some of the clones; Capt. Rex, Fives, Heavy, and Echo in particular.

It is one of those Marvel movies that I probably will never watch again. And that puts it in a basket. Unlike other movies that I tend to return to just to rewatch again like Black Widow.

It puts the lotion on the skin...

I feel like we all got hosed for watching that travesty.

Yes.  Yes it was.

I'm not sure to #1... but maybe primitive humans were never really primitive. I mean.. that does make sense and that technological breakthroughs still happened.  IT could be humans always had intelligence (beyond cave people and how they're perceived)... and it's simply technological breakthroughs happened to progress humanity.

Yet they still did not make myths out of future events.... (some guy flying into the sun.. not even a spoiler since his name was Icarus.)
