General Discussion / Re: Spider-Man: No Way Home

I'm still trying to order the steelbook and have yet to find it available for preorder.

yay! another $200 drop and i can afford one!

I tripped over some LP youtube video of this game and in 15 seconds had to go buy it. LRG show sold out so I went the steam route.

This game takes the best of Castlevania 2 and Zelda 2 and leaves all the garbage.

Image how awesome Castlevania 2 would be with a mini map, quest log, and decent direction (clues, hints, dialogue that made sense). There was no way I would have beat Simon's Quest without Nintendo Power, solely because of the awful translation and worthless clues. Infernax fixed that. Infernax doesn't slow pitch the clues BUT they do make sense. Some you're bound to miss but when you figure it out (or google it), you're going to feel stupid.

I have yet to find anything I don't like about this game. Any castlevania 2 or zelda 2 fan will dig it. Any platformer fan that's good with gore will dig it. Metal fans will get a kick out of the achievements (so far everyone I've got has been a metal song).

It's great, check it out, you'll thank me.

underwater stages are the worst

Ebay kits are USUALLY pretty well researched and there's so many people doing it the cost isn't bad at all. I've got some a kit or two stashed away, nothing turbo express though

I picked up one in the early 0's and just couldn't find stuff i liked to play. I'm sure if i had one when they were out and relevant there'd be a little more nostalgia behind it.

If I found one out in the wild I'd probably pick it up and go straight to retro to figure out what to buy for it!

The white looks pretty sweet sitting next to the white real-estate hogging ps5, but alas, I've yet to play anything on it. I've got a decent sized switch collection at this point, and several more coming. If anything gets me finally playing again it'll be when Advance Wars comes out.

I blazed through Yellowstone and immediately started (and just finished) 1883. Reacher with Thad from Blue Mountain State (best raunchy comedy since Van Wilder) was pretty good too. For a blast from the past I've started watching Clone High on Paramount + and Exo Squad on peacock. I'm slowly going through Star Trek Discovery in anticipation of Picard. Theres tons of others that have piqued my attention but work has been brutal. I've had enough time to ignore my kids, eat and sleep, so most of what I watch happens between that time i hit the bed and fall asleep.

@retro junkie - agreed, I started my Marvel fandom in the late 80s. I did go back and read / collect a lot of the 60s and 70s comics but it was from books that were popular in the 80s and 90s. I know more about the character that got introduced / teased in the end because of their appearance in the popular books of my time.

MCU writing off the Netflix series really sucks, Punisher and Daredevil was awesome.

I'm caught up. My teenage daughter has me callous to the teenie drama so I don't even notice it! Good retro itch scratcher.

It doesn't seems like Cobra Kai has pulled anyone from the Next Karate Kid movie yet and despite it being the wrost, I'd love to see them work in Hillary Swank and Walton Goggins

With the superhero attrition going on (downey, johansson, evans, et. al.), I think these D+ series are being used to introduce and/or flesh out new characters more than progress the storyline. Most of them seem like filler, all be it good filler. Same with Star Wars.

I also feel like your casual MCU viewer may not geek out on every character spin off imaginable so unveiling major events in a d+ series might turn some away. Instead keep pushing out bangers for the silver screen all the while converting some of those casual viewers into full blown geeks, who in turn subscribe to d+.

Lol... My Christmas bonus was 50% more than in 2019 (owner felt bad for nixing incentives, bonuses, etc. in 2020) so I shared with the family...

Collectively we got, 2 ps5s, 1 series x, 1 series s, an oled switch, and a ton of games. I was worried i'd not get a chance to play any of it BUT I passed my Corona test and have to sit the next week or so out!

Sorry I'm late, hope it was great!

I've never played one all the way through. I usually pick them up when they're discounted, pretty heavily and play for a bit but never really finish. I'm sure I'll do something similar here.

ditto @CreepinDeth , waiting for 4k bluray - hopefully there's a steelbook flavor

Its pretty great. I read a lot of the what if comics in the early 90's and these really bring me back. They've all been pretty great so far.

I'm warming up to it now...

For the most part, my steam library is mostly games best played on mouse and keyboard. I do have a few that could be played portably but it's a small amount.

It'd be great if it turns out a ton of games get developed for the thing specifically but that's not usually the PC way. I'm sure i'll end up with one eventually, but not soon. it looks like scalpers are taking advantage of the shortage and making these difficult to get.

Short memories... now that's google's fault. Who needs to retain knowledge anymore
#146
I got puzzle chronicles, dungeons and dragons: chronicles of mystara, castlevania anniversary collection, anniversary collection arcade classics, wizard of legend, valheim, and contra anniversary collection.

Most was just because the old school compilations were 5 bucks but Valheim was one that I've heard so many people talk about I had to try it. I played for almost an hour trying to figure it out and just haven't got there yet. I'm also stubborn and trying to use a controller on a game that has little business being controlled with a controller. It seems fun with friends.
#147
I did add Bust-A-Move, Yoshi's Island, and Bomberman 2 to my SNES library. They came from me though!
#148
I think a first party Nintendo game under 20 anymore is a fairy tale. At least the switch seems to be cranking the titles out, maybe they'll be at least findable in the future
#149
Thanks, I got the gift of entering my 40's and going to bed before 9... April covid still had Asheville pretty shut down

It's a truly awesome game. I took it to the beach with me last year and almost finished it in the week I was on vacation.
