When I bought my virtual boy I got it at a flea market without a stand and the guy said it didn't work. I don't think he realized the battery compartment was in the controller, because all I had to do was put batteries in it.

I purchased the unit, red alarm, Mario tennis, and Mario clash for $20.00. I think I got a stand on ebay at the time for another 20 - 40 and the replacement eyepiece for 5ish.

I cleaned it up, put it together, and left it on my desk. Once the novelty wore off it wasn't my thing. Mario clash was Mario bros, tennis was ok but nothing like what was out on the other systems, and the pace for red alarm wasn't great. I set on my desk for a while as a conversation piece until it became ebay fodder.

While I regret selling every video game or console I've ever let go of, the only fun I had out of it was finding and refurbishing it.

Why did the Adam and Eve ads start?

It seems like a lot of Activision's crappy transformer and marvel games have been yanked... yay! I do have Korra

While Nintendo games seem to hold up better than most, you're right. Star Fox and FZero were favorites and I've only been able to play them in small doses. Donkey Kong Country, Zelda, and Super Mario World can still command hours of my time easily, but that's not been the case with most pre ps2 era games.

I even went so far as to build a retro pie with a raspberry pi. I spent more time finding and downloading than I did playing. It's in a drawer somewhere probably never to be heard from again.

Creepin' - there's truth in jest.

I'd really never known broke, angry, or stressed until I had kids. Your hair falls out, you start getting fat, and can no longer party with the best of em. You trade picking up hot girls at the bar for chatting up "mom jeans" in the park, and drive vehicles with a roof, 4 wheels, and 4 doors. I would have died laughing at you if you told me we'd have this conversation 10 years ago.

It's not all bad though. You get some fun stories, a reason to play video games in your 30's, and are truly never alone.

even with the short cords, short supply, and other quirks both of Nintendo's offering have been a commercial success. Scalpers still get 3times msrp on the nes classic even with Nintendo saying they'll start making more again soon...

I finally got the double ad from amazon, I feel so special

Nintendo definitely didn't start the trend, but they seem to be the only one that's done it well. The atgames sega was junk and the Atari flashbacks didn't seem to sell. NEO GEO even did a nice looking one but it faded fast.

BV, you bought the neo geo rehash and it seemed instantly was talking about selling it. Why can't anyone else get this right?

I don't see a brand name and Its been years. I couldn't guess.

1080p on most stuff. I don't have a good enough tv / monitor yet. I have such a collection of 3d blurays I cant force myself to buy a new tv, and the one tv I've seen that'll do both 4k and 3d is $10,000. 3d has been abandoned by the tv makers but still comes out in the theater and on bluray.

I don't think I enjoyed a single game on the virtual boy. I did enjoy the look of it on my desk, and everyone asking wtf is that

Ever since I sold off the Neo Geo AES and the Turbo Grafx 16 I've missed the shmups... I had tons of good ones between those two systems.

I've got 300 meg service, but i'm lucky if I get 20 MB/s from steam.

Matter of fact at 8:06 EST I just downloaded Shadowrun Returns at anywhere from 900k to 19.6 MB/s.

Granted that's 2 minutes, but Shadowrun Returns is small.

At 8pm one kid was playing minecraft on her pc, watching a netflux movie on her ipad and skyping on her netbook while the other kid was playing rec room on steam. my computer was downloading Shadowrun and the tv had crunchyroll on and speedtest.net still clocked me at 72ish mbps...

Steam has to throttle bandwidth somehow.

I'd heard steam was taking down a lot of poorly made poorly received games, but never really heard what they were taking down or when.
#1278
i only got to level 22 on my last seasonal character....

I was on at 930 but didn't see anyone else

Raiden V looks a lot better. Coop may be worth the price of admission. 3 on steam seems slow, 5 seems like its got a nicer pacing.

Yeah, I had a similar fear with the Wonder Woman movie. A few detractors griped about her not being a hairy Amazon but all in all the hype took nothing from the movie. The only DC movies I found any better were the Dark Knight movies.

I really can't wait to watch
#1281
Raiden 3 was on steam for a buck or two during the winter sale so i'm a few iterations behind.

With a backlog that's now the majority of my collection I can wait till steam sales 2024 to buy it on the cheap!
#1282
allowance goes towards psn... plus its better than a phone bill
#1283
yeah I bought it on steam, haven't installed it yet though

My kids love it, I just can't get into a game without a specific purpose. Largely, Minecraft has no point. There is no beating the game, no leveling up, no built in purpose.

Even as a kid sitting in a sand box didn't do it for me. When I played with Legos it was to build the set. Not keeping score in back-yard football was out of the question. There had to be a goal in everything.

Terraria was more my speed, it had some sort of progression.

I'm really excited about seeing it. Instead of going to the theater I'll preorder a collector's edition, so it'll be a while before I get to watch it.

My fear was the movie would be over hyped because of it being a black super hero OR completely criticized because Black Panther was created by two white guys. It's pretty commonplace for comics and Sci Fi to tackle social issues - Captain America curb-stomping Nazis , Kirk and Ohura kissing, so I personally have difficulty finding the movie ground-breaking. Comics have been speaking out for the disenfranchised since well before I was born, and I've been a fan since I could read, this just doesn't seem new to me.

I do appreciate the fact that the movie is bringing more attention to the genre and hope that it serves as a vehicle to bring a wider audience to a genre that has championed tough subject matter and spoke out against oppressive norms for decades.

I would have bought one if it was spring loaded. It would have caused flashbacks of a 30 something Carrie-Anne Moss in leather pants...

That's amazing, it starting to get difficult to find 10 games under 60 anymore

My children have decimated a number of systems, the 2ds/3ds just got the brunt of their earlier childhood. Fire tablets and iPads have also suffered. the funniest was when my ps3 didn't work because it had 3 discs loaded into it.
