Retro Gaming and Hardware / Re: The Sega Nomad Topic!
February 11, 2018, 12:43:05 PM
Didn't the Nomad have a short battery life? I want to pick up one so bad but I can't justify the price. A good bit of what I used to love on the Sega just isn't fun to me anymore.

I've copied it with and without the link and steam still does that same crap.

view my steam profile - bcalrogers - and you'll see what i'm talking about.

General Discussion / Re: Captcha and posting

I'd do it 50 times if it meant keeping spam out...

ok maybe just 10, I've got a slight red / green colorblindness so I have to hear the phrase

Steam doesn't like the link

I had the same reaction...

I downloaded ICQ just to see what it was. It's a little weird, but it could be useful.. no one in any of my circles has adopted it though so it's just something else installed on my computer I probably wont ever use.

On and off I'd say I have a few hundred hours in it.

Used at GS for 9.99 - $7.99 with an elite membership

Fantastic game if you were under a rock when it first came out
#1363
haha, anymore you'll have to send me an invitation through outlook to schedule a meeting!

Wikipedia is worse than those "you won't believe what (insert celebrity / pop culture icon) looks like now" which has a link to "see where the actors of (favorite 90's teen drama) are up to now" which segways into "42 famous people you wouldn't realize are dead" which goes to "star wars goofs you never noticed" which leads to "14 best kept secrets behind MASH" which then leads to 68 unbelievable photos from Woodstock while finally ends at OH CRAP, I gotta be up for work in 2 hours...

If there was a platform that beat out the Wii for shovelware...
#1366
well that was awesome, because I looked at hal's Wikipedia I learned about the MSX.... It seems strange it never made it to the US... but Sony has a way of having just as many complete and utter flops as it does stellar successes

On that other forum he'd mentioned retiring in a thread or two so I'll bet he turns in to a big contributor when he gets his gold watch!

General Discussion / Buddy List
February 06, 2018, 10:18:39 PM
when you look at a member's profile there's an option to add to your buddy list. What does that do. All I can tell is in the section where it tells guests / members online the word buddy pops up when someone you've identified as a buddy is online.

I swear if I hear anything else about PUBG I'll have to get it just to say I have it. Almost everyone I know that still has anything to do with gaming is playing it and I just never got the bug. For some reason it just doesn't appeal to me.

So we're all getting iCQ's again?

Don't blame me!

CGD game night? Themed game night(s) maybe? Incorporate twitch or youtube somehow? I'm sure it'd be like herding cats but if we had some sort of community outside of the occasional forum posting it'd have to be easier to develop a following.

It'd be awesome to play something like Monopoly Gamer Edition through the forum somehow. It'd be super simple to code the dice rolls and keep up with players banks in something like VB but the property would be tricky and i'd have no idea how to incorporate that in a forum... but heck, people used to play chess via snail mail, surely a next level fun and games section where there was some sort of ongoing game outside of the normal forum fare would be awesome.

Whatever we do i'd like to see us take the forum out of the internet stone age and make it relevant again.

Zelda
Splatoon
Mario Kart
Mario Rabbids
Mario Odyssey

Are all that's worth it so far.

I almost didn't list Mario kart because it was on wii u first and is dang near the same game...

There's more that's fun but they've been better and were released earlier on other platforms. I'll end up buying a second Switch because my son has moved the one we own into his bedroom but really, it'd only be to play Zelda without having to move the system.

I started trying to do the seasonal thing they added but I've developed a complete and utter lack of focus... I'd play if anyone wanted

Shadow of Mordor went on sale for 9.99 (7.99 with an elite membership) so I bought it because it was one in a long line of awesome games that I've missed. Its sad that now that I can afford whatever I want I hardly have time to pay attention. Most of the stuff I get ends up being for my 7 year old.

I was able to give it a little time despite being Super Bowl weekend. Its really unfortunate that I bought Monster Hunter and Horizon Zero Dawn in the last ten days as well as Battlechasers: NightWar because I'll probably not be able to give any of them the time they deserve. Splitting time between epic ARPGs (battlechasers not so much) isn't recommended. I can tell they're all amazing games (again not battlechasers).

If I only had enough discipline to play one all the way through before moving on to another.
#1375
I'm sure they did... I've just not watched as many since I outgrew most of my recreational activities!
#1376
There's so much I really liked about EGA so it's difficult not to recommend beloved sections... We really need something additional that's different but as good...
#1377
I think it phased out after he died and shared Cartman's body for a while.
#1378
The wavebirds were awesome controllers that I never should have bought. I was late to the GameCube party so I only broke one; had I bought into the GameCube earlier I'm sure there would have been a much higher death toll. Throwing a controller in a fit of  rage is such a knee jerk reaction it's almost unavoidable.
#1379
I guess the initial hatred has been a pretty typical response. Giving it another opportunity may be warranted although I fear it'll still be right up there with the game handler.
#1380
I thought Mario + Rabbids was good. There wasn't as many moving pieces as Xcom which is to be expected factoring in Mario's target audience.
