Good review,  @retro junkie

The glowing trademark is a cool touch.  So overall, you think it is worth it and a cool device?   Even with all the game glitching you highlighted?

Unless there are licensing issues, they should be able to put most of the library of games on a mini with no problem.
I would love to have every shooter made for the system with an easy HDMI hook up.  ;)

That would be awesome... TG16 over HDMI formatted well to the screen.

@CreepinDeth I sure hope Rondo is included.. that would be the best addition to any mini system to date.
#1447
@targetrasp @CreepinDeth  @retro junkie ... I thought this was supposed to come out in May.  OR was that the Castlevania Anniversary Collection.  That might need it's own topic  ;D

SO... I looked for the Castlevania Anniversary collection.   I take it... this is online only and no physical version is being released?

@CreepinDeth @retro junkie   ... the NA region NEEDS ALL THE GAMES.... from all regions.  Don't leave us out...

This is the most excited I've been about any of these mini consoles.  By FAR... this could be the best thing since sliced bread.

@Grindspine ... did you play much of the Turbo Grafx / Duo?  I believe we broke out some of the games WAAAYYY back in the day.  I'm curious if you tried anything else.
#1449
Need to play a game soon... @targetrasp @mastermario @Grindspine @SpartanEvolved

@CreepinDeth lol :)  we need to get you back in there as well.

I have made little to no progress on any games.  I made more progress in guitar (not guitar hero) this week.  Gear Fest at sweetwater 2019... has me back on the guitar.  I did play some Tetris 99... such an addicting game.

I've also been thinking of directions for this site and the other tech site.  I'm sitting for the 1st part of my Linux test Thursday... I keep mentioning it, but I do plan to post some lessons / notes here at some point as requested.

Has anyone made progress this week?  I bet @retro junkie has!

LOL yes... @targetrasp and @CreepinDeth please... please please... Blazing Lasers.  I was VERY happy to see Alien Crush made it.

@retro junkie Thank you for this wonderful bit of information.  I almost cannot believe this is coming out.  I started looking to make sure it wasn't April fools.
#1451
We actually played Left for Dead 2 not that long ago and made it through a campaign. lol
@Grindspine @mastermario @SpartanEvolved

We definitely need to do that again soon.

@Grindspine  well... I missed it in a way... but still had a margarita :D
#1453
LOL nice... what else are you working on?
#1454
LOL @retro junkie   lol.....

yeah... see.. that's the problem I have.  Apple made serious cash money while they had plants where they installed nets to catch employees because people were throwing themselves from the roof top due to horrible conditions.  That's just not right.

They "corrected" some of those things... but corrected is in quotes for a reason.   And their corrections really didn't add a lot of cost...

Greed.  I'm all for people making as much money as they can... but when you treat people as slaves in horrible conditions, that's not ok.
#1455
Many wealthy people aren't stupid.  They've been known to be frugal in many cases amongst other things.   This really is a stupid money decision.    At the very least, I'd opt for the VESA mount and save the money.  Yes, they could afford it.. but why?   I'd rather get an LG, ASUS, or other competitor model for well under the cost of the monitor (not to mention monitor and stand combo).

Retro Gaming and Hardware / Re: N64 Clone Console?
June 09, 2019, 10:19:30 AM
@retro junkie So these are all emulation based?   The N64 console deserves something.  @Jack mentioned it was time for a N64 classic... but most of the classic consoles are emulation based.

I doubt an "official" classic console would be anything other than emulation.      Do you see any other companies on the horizon to take a hardware based approach?

#1457
LOL... ANNNDDDD... There is nothing else built into the stand.  It's just a high quality piece for your desk!

I want one made of Vibranium...  please...  That would be cool..  Then again, I don't think I would waste Vibranium on a monitor stand unless it gave some additional awesome properties somehow.

Ooooo sonic mania hit PS plus for red? @targetrasp ... thank you for the info... I totally missed that.
#1459
This is not super new news... but I Thought it was ridiculous.   The monitor itself has pretty nice specs....... for $4999.  THEN the monitor STANDA costs $999... the Vesa mount alone is $199. Crazy.   I mean... that's gross even for Apple.

http://www.msn.com/en-us/video/science/apple-gets-roundly-mocked-for-its-new-dollar1000-monitor-stand/vi-AACrFNC?ocid=ientp

My favorite comment:
"Apple Charging $1000 for the stand for the new computer monitor!!  For the Stand.  At that price, the thing better be made of Vibranium straight from Wakanda courtesy of Stark Enterpirses."   LOL  :))

The current generation of systems really didn't drop in price.  I mean, they've been around since2014 now... and while some decent game prices can be found on PS4 games, I haven't seen super low prices outside finding deals on certain titles like 1-2 year old Lego Games.  No dig on the Lego games, I like them.

The PS4 (IMO) has a good amount of life left.  I know the Xbone came out before the PS4 and already showed a bit of under performance right at the beginning.  Either way, I'm not sure we are all ready for the PS5 or any other Video Game progressions to the next generation.   ... well... with Exception of the PS Vita.  We NEEEEEED a new PS Vita.  I love my Vita.
#1461
I think that needs to appeal to all gamers.  What's the point of a single player game if you cannot play when there's no internet connection?  This was a big downfall to the too strict DRM strategy.  Steam had an issue with it or awhile if I remember right.   We are talking a long time ago... but There was some issue with playing offline.

The concept seems cool... who knows... maybe we are ready for it.   Something like this might (IMO) take down the remaining Gamestores though.
#1462
@targetrasp What about Megaman legends do you want to see come back?   Somehow, I don't doubt that it'll come back at some point.

I'd love to see the crusader series come back in some sort of reboot.  Not sure what kind of reboot... but a reboot of some sort.  Great game...
#1463
Woot... This looks like it might be kind of cool.  What are you looking forward to @Bomber Man ?

I know @Jack dug Pokémon games quite a bit.  Anyone else looking forward to this game?

Lack of time right now @Grindspine ...  I need to login.  It's been 6-7 months.

LOL @mastermario you quoted him before I could punt him.
#1466
So you really don't like Windows that much?    I'm curious what the aversion to it is?   I like Windows a lot... but I've use tons of different Operating Systems.   I'm not a huge fan of OSX, but I understand why others like using them... there is an ease of use there that is not offered by other OSs.  But with that, there are other restrictions.
#1467
Honestly, with SSD... you won't see it.  Even on cheaper SSDs.  Understand, if you write many files to SSDs, your transfer rate can be slowed.
AS far as the number of times you can right... not that I'm aware of.  Every drive has a finite life span.

Just remember... you cannot defrag an SSD like an HD.  There's technology that does it on the fly these days.  Also, the lower priced drives don't operate as well as the higher performance drives.  It will still be a performance increase than more HDD's.
#1468
I'm not sure I'll be able to game or cook out lol. But I'll see if I can get something gaming going later... I cannot promise though.

@mastermario @SpartanEvolved  @Jack @targetrasp

Anyone else want to try to join up with @Grindspine as well?
#1469
This is interesting...  and I like it a lot.

.PS5 Players Can Play with PS4 Players Using Backwards Compatibility, Sony Confirms - pushsquare.com

I'm glad at least some if the "backwards compatibility" is still here.

Congratulations... that's pretty cool they were only $40.  They still run well?

As far as being more secure... I'm not sure I'm totally sold on that.   Macs are susceptible to virus as well... it's just not as common.  The IBM iSeries doesn't have virus made for it... but it can harbor virus in the IFS and other file systems.   Macs used to be based on the PowerPc Architecture... stopped in 2006 if I correctly remember.

Windows 7 holes will no longer be patched soon... allowing it to be owned by anyone and everyone.  I remember... even back in 2005, if you didn't patch XP quickly after a new build, you had viruses in minutes.

I'm not familiar with Articfox... what exactly is that browser?

So you like it?  What do you like about the OS?
