Ddddiiiiiddddd you get any Video games? @targetrasp

Mario Maker 2 should be a good game to get.  We have a lot of time in the old game... definitely looking forward to Mario Maker 2.

@trkorecky Yeah... I Think those integrations are a great idea.   It seems like the take what Steam can do a bit further.  But... will it work well once you have a load of people?  Like other cloud offerings... do you think they'll have tiers?  For example, you have to pay to have access to HD or 4K streaming versus lower res streaming.

@CreepinDeth I agree with you.. but it seems to be getting better and better.  There are places that really need more competition to drive down prices... and other parts of the country need better infrastructure.  Rural areas... may never see justice in this department.

This is definitely an interesting concept... but I don't know if I like getting away from hardware consoles.  It's another step away from actually owning your games and consoles.   There are very enticing features though.

Happy birthday @targetrasp I'm making sure to get his one out there early lol.   Enjoy your digital cake!

IF you receive any games... or buy any... Post them here!  ;D

man.. I ran across this video the other day of Sepultura doing Territory and part of Kaiowas.     It's MTV Brazil... but it's really amazing... and fairly powerful.   Max goes crazy on the drums during Kaiowas!

1 word of warning... the music at the end of the video almost takes away from anything good in this video.  LOL... listen to it and you will see what I mean.  ;D  I have NO idea why they played that during the credits.

Happy Birthday @Aya-Kun .... it's been awhile since we've seen you around.  However, enjoy your digital cake and I hope it was a good one!

LOL... I'm still working with Ubuntu and Centos... though I'm hearing these certs may be more based on straight Debian.

At work... we are starting to work with Suse or SLES... Suse Linux Enterprise essentially.   I'm trying to get hands on with this.  I've worked a lot with the Windows OS, some Windows Servers, I lead the IBM i Operating System - iSeries group, I've worked a bit in the IBM AIX Operating System - a Unix variant.

If you want, as I go through my studies... I Could do a couple write-ups (posts) here and there providing notes on how to do certain tasks... if you think that would be of benefit.

@retro junkie This looks really cool... the console design is very nice!  Good post, Retro!

So... is there something to the Castlevania 3 comment?  I mean... is there another device that it doesn't work on? Or is it just because of graphics issues of the Hyperkin itself?   I'm probably out of touch on some of this..

LOL.. Rad Racer 2... man... blast from the past.   We used to play Rad Racer ALL the time.   You could switch songs by hitting down.  ;D

lol @targetrasp Sounds like fun

As in real good fun?

@targetrasp ... price wise... that's a hard one.   If hardware isn't as prevalent... you won't see development for it at the user level.   Development would be more of the server / host level... because regular consumers wouldn't be buying anymore.   OF course, this all assumes high adoption rates.  I'm not sure I see it getting this far... but it would definitely appeal to the gamer...

If you think about the possibilities, you could literally have whatever game you wanted to play on demand.   For example, for a monthly price... you could play all Nintendo games ever made.   But I'm sure we would be getting into something like where HBO, ATT, Netflix, Amazon...etc... have their own services and compete with shows and pricing, so not all games would be on 1 source.

Pricing is a good question... Internet connectivity would have to be great.     Would this mean the death of couch coop?  (even more-so than today).

@trkorecky @CreepinDeth @retro junkie @Jack @targetrasp @Grindspine @Mai Valentine @Kinikko @Strubes  ... thoughts?

Right now, I'm hoping to take my 1st Linux exam in 2 weeks.  I'm a bit behind... but working through some stuff right now.

For those running Linux ... how much do you know your environment variables and commands?  DO you stay mostly in a GUI... or are you running the command line?

#1512
@CreepinDeth LOL.. true story  ;D

Yeah... maybe I should've gave it more of a chance.   It was underwhelming to me as I loved Warcraft 2, StarCraft, and other RTS's.   I was pretty big into them.

Anyone else excited for this?   I might give it a chance again if we had players.
#1518
Bummer @CreepinDeth

@targetrasp - up for trying a few challenging levels?  ;D
#1519
@CreepinDeth Revisiting this topic.  So I haven't bought this game yet.  Time just isn't there... it's still on my radar though.   I'm sure @Jack would love having a mobile Doom game lol... no?

I've watched several of these gameplay videos... man... it looks like it plays pretty well and is a lot of fun.  Has anyone had a chance to pick this up?

See.... I didn't do much in the way of trading, but I need to do that.  There are a few "base Minecraft" achievements I still need to get.   Hm... time to put a plan together to get this done.

I can never seem to find enough emeralds though.

I'm reviving this topic.... I was thinking about the PSP and PSVita today.   We haven't heard anything from Sony... which makes me think their handheld attempts are dead.

I'd love to see thing bring a new entry to market.   Would I buy it?  yes.  I bought the PSP original as well as the PS Vita.   Sony had a great handheld format with the PS Vita.   The remote play features were pretty cool as well.  There were a few issues with games such as Call of Duty... but they could fix that with future successors by updating their controller layout to be more like a PlayStation Dual Shock Controller.

I 1st heard about foldable / bendable phones back in 2008-2009.   Nokia was Research and Developing a technology that allowed bendable phones.... NOW... it's not exactly foldable, but it's not far off.   I'm not sure who originally came up with the "foldable phone" original concept, but several are releasing.   They are quite expensive too.   Foldable phones really brings us to a new / interesting era of cell phones and portable devices.

Here are a few resources:
Xiaomi Looks Close to Unleashing a Third Contender in the Foldable Phone Wars - Gizmodo.com
Samsung is working on a new foldable smartphone that's nothing like the Galaxy Fold - bgr.com
Samsung Releases Video of Galaxy Fold's Folding Test - extremetech.com

There are a lot of contenders right now.   Samsung Galaxy Fold will retail for $2000... according to price estimates.   I need a barfing Emoticon... or emoji as the new cool kids call them.   ;D

The coolest one I've seen is a new foldable screen Motorola Razr.   It REALLY has a classic design... is larger... and looks really cool. Here's a "concept" video:

IF it looks anything like that... I want one  ;D

Speaking of Isabelle... today I played Smash Bros and kicked my son's and friend's butt with Isabelle LOL.   There's a clapping taunt you can do where she has a super happy face... and she claps.  Super Satisfying.   ;D

In the last 10 year - More Companies are moving to the cloud... movies go from renting via mail to streaming... Digital Distribution for games is starting to take a more dominant role in how we buy our games... amongst other changes.

Now, Google wants to change how we play games.  Enter the Google Stadia:
Stadia, Google's gaming platform, changed the rules of the console wars - Polygon.com

I started talking about this in the topic:
Retro-Bit Sega Genesis Controller!

Google wants you to offload all your "console processing" to them.   They would handle all processing of your game... and your input for the game would be transmitted over the Internet.  THIS MEANS... you have to ALWAYS be connected to the Internet.  It also means you have to have a pretty good Internet connection.  But you won't have to worry about beefing up your hardware or... hardware at all.

They have been play testing this and it's quite interesting.  If this catches on... it could legitimately change how we play games forever.   But... it really negates couch coop... and that's something I personally wish we wouldn't lose.   Couch Coop seems to be less and less a thing anymore though.

What are your thoughts?    Post it up!

Very cool... I might have to pick one of these up.   Do they come with ... more time as well?  ;D

Bloodlines was a Genesis exclusive.

No... I understand that @retro junkie ... I meant,  does that mean it wasn't released on any other platform...  ie steam or remastered?  I thought it was released on something else...  but guess I'm wrong on that.

Lol @Grindspine ... that sounds like a gift to yourself as well  ;D

SO... I had to take a detour on certifications I was taking.    I acquired the Amazon Web Services Cloud Practitioner and Solutions Architect Associate.    I Am back to Linux studies... currently going for Linux+ / LPIC1, LPIC 2, and then will be going for the Red Hat Certified System Admin.  The goal is to finish these up in the next 6 weeks to get back to AWS certifications.

With that... I am back to playing around with Ubuntu and Centos Server.   OpenSuse has been put to the side.. but right now, I'm working on the differences in the package managers.

Is anyone playing around with Linux OS's right now?

Hm... good topic!    So they're including Castlevania: Bloodlines... I thought that was originally released on the Genesis.  Or do you mean it's not been re-released on any other platform?

We need General Chaos in this bundle!!   AND Rambo iii.   For whatever reason, I really enjoyed Rambo iii on the Genesis.
