I like Trans-Siberian Orchestra... They have some pretty cool songs.  I like Mephistopheles Return.... Wizards in Winter is probably one of my favorites from Trans-Siberian.

I love a nice STEELBOOK... but that's another topic and another time.   I noticed Shadow of the Tomb Raider coming out very soon... and it peaked my interest.  Has anyone else see anything on this game good or bad?  I'm thinking of pre-ordering the early version... why?  Just Because... and I'm hoping the title turns out to be awesome.  Sometimes I buy games to try them out before I hear anything on them.

Look at this STEELBOOK (Image take from Marketing Materials at Amazon.com):

Hopefully it looks like that... but that is one nicely designed STEELBOOK.

Thoughts?  Comments?  Post it up!

Who has bought this game?  I bought it.... I know @SpartanEvolved, @targetrasp , @trkorecky  and @Strubes were looking into this title (probably @CreepinDeth and @Kinikko as well.

While I wish there were multiplayer features, this is a pretty fun beat-em-up style game.  Some call it the Arkham Asylum of the Spider-Man world.  There are talks about this being the best Spider-Man game ever made.  I have to agree with this statement.

Now that this game as been launched, what are your impressions?   Post up your comments on Spider-Man for the PlayStation 4.

Announcements and FAQs / Social Logins Now Active
September 09, 2018, 04:05:41 PM
This will be updated in the future... for now, Battle.net and Steam logins are activated on this site.   If you want to use these services to login, you will need to set them up.  On our testing, it appears you can only choose 1 to login.

A couple options to note:

**** we can probably turn this off in the future if it causes issues.

If you would like to send me your current avatar (or upload it in a post)... I will save them to the server.  Not sure how the overwrite settings will work with this.  We will figure it out.

I hope this helps... I will add more services in the future including Discord, Twitch... and maybe Twitter, Facebook, and a couple others.  Questions, please let me know.

Pasta... with home grown tomatoes and herbs... and Johnsonville Brats instead of hamburger.  OMMM NOMM NOMMMM

This is one fighter I put a lot of time into... and money.  I played this in the arcade quite a bit... and couldn't wait to pick up Killer Instinct Gold on the Nintendo 64.  If I am correct, this game retailed for $75.

The character selection was pretty good.  I enjoyed playing as Fulgore (Zealot from StarCraft LOL... I kid) and Spinal.

The backgrounds were good for the time and there were interactions with the background - knocking characters off stage...etc.I agree with you @retro junkie ... I highly recommend Killer Instinct Gold for the Nintendo 64 as well.  Awesome game.

Something interesting I found out:  IF I remember correctly... this game will NOT start up if you have a Rumble pack inserted into the Nintendo 64 controller.  I accidentally found this out .. I thought my game was broke lol... it was just the rumble pack.

@Kinikko that is a pretty fricking Cool ps4 console.  Nice!

I haven't been able to bring myself to get a ps4 pro and 4k TV -  yet.  Someday. But not today lol.

Hold on though... so the interesting thing with the Cell Phone deals - it changes who actually owns them.  I don't have a lot of proof to this... but technically you are renting and they own.  If you can find information to refute this... I would GREATLY appreciate it because I cannot.  So... they own the device, and this makes it easier for companies to snoop and do what they want.  It's not like they couldn't do it anyway... but it is similar to a  Land lord.  Maybe that's a bad analogy.

So they are offering this now with Consoles @CreepinDeth ?  This is the 1st I've heard of this.  Very interesting...

@targetrasp This is correct... they definitely will push up the price.  IMO it's a bad precedent to set.  At the end... the customer doesn't care because it's "cheaper" in some respects... but it's technically not cheaper and may come with more restrictions than gamers would like.

IDK... I could be wrong... My mindset is more on ownership.  Leasing isn't a wrong way... but it's definitely pushed too much these days.

I agree - more custom consoles would be awesome.

There have been cool console designs in the past.  This is one of my favorites:
Chicken Dinner Gaming Topic: Star Wars Battlefront 2 - Playstation 4 - best design so far?

Another one I really liked was the Gears of War 3 Xbox 360 styled Console with Gears of War 3 Styled Controller.  I think I still have my Gears of War 3 styled Xbox 360 controller.

The auction ended at $8,300.  That's a ton of money.  Cool that it's for charity... but it's still a lot of money.

That's interesting there is that much of a different between US and Japanese versions of Transformers Beast Wars - Nintendo 64 title.

Quote from: retro junkie on September 05, 2018, 09:47:30 PM
The Japan version is so much different in feel and gameplay than its US counterpart, (My Daughter owns the US version). And I believe the Japan version to be the better game. The original version causes you to use strategy against your opponents. Having a very big playing field, something that the US version does not have, the need to maneuver your character, adds to this concept.

@retro junkie How much further out is the field of view on the Japanese game?

This is one title I don't remember on the Nintendo 64... this is an interesting read.   Good job on your review of Transformers Beast Wars for the Nintendo 64.     I'd like to try it out sometime.

Retro Gaming and Hardware / Re: N64: Dark Rift Review
September 06, 2018, 05:29:56 PM
Dark Rift was an interesting game on the N64 (Nintendo 64).  I think it came out sometime around Mortal Kombat 4... if I'm not mistaken.  Mortal Kombat 4 was a fundamental redesign and included weapons as well.

I had a lot of fun with Dark Rift at the time.  I'm not sure how much I would enjoy it today... or how well it holds up.  As you noted, it was a straight fighter... no fatalities... no craziness like that.  That was ok though... especially with other Fighters such as King of Fighters, Samurai Shodown, Tekken...etc... they didn't have fatailities either.

I never purchased this game... only rented... but I remember I wanted to purchase it.   Does anyone else remember this title?

Bumping this topic up... I noticed Spiderman PS4 and Diablo 3 Switch are not showing the pre-order price.

Update:  I found the following after checkout:

Congratulations. Your purchase qualifies you for a $10 promotional credit which will be delivered to your account 30-35 days after the game is shipped or digitally delivered.

So... that means you do not get it up front anymore.  I Guess that's fine... I wonder if they ran into issues with people returning.   This wouldn't stop people from returning though.  Maybe gaming companies didn't want their retail prices looking lower on Amazon.

Retro Gaming and Hardware / Re: Battletanxs 1 and 2 - N64

lol....I think I posted these somewhere.... I love these commercials.  Some of the best gaming commercials made to date.   I actually remember these airing on TV.

It would be cool if they brought battletanx back.
#2176
LOL... somehow I missed that.  Good strategy - To successfully complete it is the trick.
#2177
Updated for new features...etc.  4 player offline 1 console... or I believe online... is pretty cool.
#2178
NO!! @targetrasp The bottom was worse than the top.  Come on. lol...

#2179
This game was fun ... definitely unique.   I played the 1st one more... but the 2nd one looked better.

It was nice to play a semi-open world game where you just explore.  Some people might think that's boring but it was a nice change of pace to just explore underwater places.

Bumping this thread... someone here has to be interested in Ikaruga shmup on the Switch!
#2181
Honestly.... I Cannot wait for this game to come out.  It's a lot of fun... and I Still enjoy making levels.  At some point, we need to make a section for people to upload MarioMaker Levels.  OR... Maybe I need to make a profile section for people to add MarioMaker BookMark links in their profile (for those small icons).

I'd like to see slops, hills, and those round rollers in the hills... you know the big ones from Super Mario World, I believe it was.
#2182
yeah... it very much is the same now.  Punch in the face hard at 1st... if you know what I mean.   Though I caught on pretty quickly.

I need to break out FlashBack 25th Anniversary again... maybe in the next couple days.  More progress needs to be made on the game.
#2183
I haven't seen or heard anything on this @Jack .  What are the additions?  What is the draw this time around.

Man... some of the originals were rage bait lol.  You know... Smash your friends rage bait that is.
#2184
@targetrasp NO!  You cannot succumb to the Adult.  lol... enough adulting... more gaming.  Repeat this  "I don't want to adult anymore."

Honestly... I hear you.  I get it and have been there.  Then I'll break out something like Defense Grid...  or start playing a Lego game that I haven't played in forever.  Not exactly sure why, but clearing the gaming backlog has helped a lot with this.  Classic Gaming has also helped cure the blues.

As far as Amiibos... they don't help at all?   I guess that would count as pay to win if they did lol... in a way.    I seriously want to get into this game... I have a few purchases I want to do 1st.

#2185
LOL... good stuff @Boomsickle

I'm starting to wonder which one will win... Top Xenoblade... or Bottom Xenoblade.

How many different characters are there?

lol ... you ruin your coffee!  Stop it @mastermario

Gevalia Columbian Blend is good... the  K-cups are pretty good as well.  I didn't realize Gevalia is now a Kraft-Heinz company.   Gevalia Espresso Roast is also very good.  Probably my go-to outside of Espresso Blend 101 or a couple others.  The local coffee shop had a couple Brazilian Coffees that had a buttery Smell to them.  Not Rancid.. but super tasty.  Hard to explain that one.

Get it.  It is a great SC2 expansion and it does share some similarities with the fabled StarCraft Ghost without being first person.
@Grindspine I think I Will do just that.   What are your favorite parts about it?

It's too bad they didn't release StarCraft Ghost.
#2189
LOL... @Boomsickle Pre-emptive spoiler warnings.  The search engines stated in Glados Voice - "You do realize I will give you spoilers if you search this, human...."   :))

BTW... you polled us and both polls are Xenoblade.  LOL... and they both are tied in a vote!  Who's gonna win?!  ;D

Great Review - @retro junkie

Clay Fighter was such an odd game.  I remember then playing Clay Fighter 63 1/3 on the Nintendo 64.  At the time, it was noted as one of the "must have" titles.  It by far wasn't my favorite fighter... at the time, I Was still into Samurai Shodown.  I was into Samurai Shodown hard   ;D

We had a lot of fun with the title... but in the end, I was ok not buying it.   It is surprising the game has not been revisited in all these years.   However, Company's aren't trying new formulas as much anymore.

I completely lost track of this game... thank you for bringing it back Retro... good topic.
