I skipped this generation of consoles.  After the first major price drop, I will probably get a PS5 first, then an Xbox if they have any exclusives.

Really, the only reason I consider consoles anymore is for exclusive titles that are not also released on PC...

Is it true that the disc copy ships on a 2 TB drive?

Each update has another TB mailed to you?

J/k...

I have zero interest in getting Cold War.  Now if they called it Corona War they would be on to something....  ;D

By the time anyone visits, I will hopefully have my home studio finished, have Halloween decorations up, and maybe even have some furniture downstairs!

Priorities.. ya know?  ;D

I've been a busy, busy family man. That much I can say. I'm a proud father of a beautiful baby girl. She just turned 1 on the 4th of July. :) Thank you Dave!

Happy belated birthday to you and to the little one!

The casting and acting were great, as are the connections to the other parts of the Star Trek universe.

However, the story arc of the "temporal cold war" just got convoluted.  I get the impression that writers add time travel when they run out of ideas to carry a story forward.

Do people not check their bank accounts daily for unauthorized charges?

Internet is up at the new house, although AT&T has us at 100 Mbps down from the 300 previously.  Also, the router is on the other side of the house, so it is either Wifi or a Brite-View connection, which uses the houses AC electric wiring as a substitute LAN.

The garage is now cleaned out and my home studio is set up.  Renee helped clear out the living room over the weekend.  We have not done any repainting yet though.

Hollow Knight, so far, is like Metroid (the first NES one) with a dash of Dark Souls.

New areas have no automatically updating map, like most Metroidvania games.  There is no experience point system.  Your abilities only increase upon finding or purchasing items.  All items so far are really expensive and hard to afford, especially if you lose all of your geo while trying to recover your shade from where you died.

There are a bunch of enemies that will come out of nowhere, sometimes if you are trying to escape one area, backtracking, an enemy that you thought you killed will pop up and end you.

The graphics and music are haunting, the environments look engaging, but are also very threatening.

Even an older 7200 drive is faster than the real world download speeds of that many games at once!

Halo 4 was awful, but I still had the 360 for Halo 3, ODST, and Reach.  I am glad that I skipped the Xbone since Master Chief Collection is coming out on Steam anyway.

I also skipped the PS4, but honestly still have PS2 and PS3 games that I have yet to beat.

Take this as a sign to all gamers that it is time to catch up on their backlogged games!

I have been trying to play some Hollow Knight after taking a hiatus from Ori and the Blind Forest.

These games are beyond challenging; they are a struggle.

Anyone else dip into these?

Renee also just got Legend of Korra, which is a continuation of Avatar: The Last Airbender.  It seems good so far!

With my drive to downtown Indianapolis being over 15 miles (to and from), I think that 37 mile range would make me nervous...

My 2001 Grand Am SE is still going, but I do not know for how much longer it can...

Thank you for the birthday wishes!

Sorry that I have been sparse.  I am still settling into the new house!

Thanks ya!

You do realize that you can drive down here (~2 hour drive) to LAN for the night!  ;D

lol, try downloading your steam account to a new computer!

HAHAHAH.. no....

I would literally rather archive my steam folders to another terabyte drive and physically install that drive to a new computer... smart like!

As I was reviewing my internet usage over the last several months, I can pinpoint exactly when COD: Modern Warfare updated.  The only internet usage that I have peaking over double digit gigabytes per day were singly due to Modern Warfare's updates.

It would help if developers released FINISHED games instead of early release games with inadequate bug testing too.

At this point, my personal favorite era of Star Wars occurs from Episode II: Attack of the Clones through The Clone Wars animated series, Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and up to Star Wars: Rebels.

Seeing the connections fall into place of what led to A New Hope and understanding the backstory of the fall of Anakin to the dark side was pretty epic!

Rey is still an awesome Jedi, The Force Awakens is an overall good Star Wars action flick.  There is no need to really rewrite anything, although I certainly would not miss either Jar Jar Binks or "Space Leia" in the grand scheme that is Star Wars.

In the end, Lucasfilm and Disney will do what they do.  Fans might love it or hate it, but they'll still watch it.

I don't do any gaming on a PC. It is just not my thing. I have been pretty content with my Mac mini and Macbook pro 2012. These serve my needs of word processing, net surfing, drawing with krita or PS, photo editing, working out my budget, just lite weight stuff.

Retro, I found a great way to use your Mac for gaming!

Why?........................  Why not?.........................

I think that the Asus - Ryzen 7, GTX1660 laptop that I just finished paying off will have to last a while at this point.

I have started Star Trek: Enterprise. It is another one that I bailed on back then. It started losing me after they changed the intro song. And another series that had a war that dragged on and on and on.

Enterprise had a great cast and some great writing early in the series.  When they got into the "temporal cold war" story arc, the story made increasingly less sense.

Renee recently finished the Avatar animated series (the Airbender, not the blue people from the James Cameron film).  We have also watched a ton of Supernatural and Voltron on Netflix!

I read through the article, but fan theory knows no bounds.  Anything is possible in a fantasy universe, even more so in the wild ideas of fans who cannot accept something into their concept of what should be cannon in a franchise.

I just question the validity of someone who goes by "doomcock" saying that this is how three major release movies will be removed from cannon.

I really wish that the NES Classic had River City Ransom!  I played the hell out of that in middle school!

This video has some pretty detailed coverage for an exploded view of the Xbox series X.  That console design finally makes some sense!

The hardware reveal does not disappoint.  I like that the controller takes ques from the basic DualShock design and does add a bit of the xbox 360 style controller curves.  It looks like it will have a bit more beefiness for more adult hands than some of the older PlayStation controller designs.

The curvature of the console makes sense.  One of the problems going back as far as the NES was damage due to someone putting a beverage on top of the box.  The vertical or horizontal orientations will help it fit in to various A/V entertainment set ups too.

With the advancements in SSD storage and retrieval, the PS5 is expected to be able to make things happen in a smooth way that has not been previously available.  I still adore how games like the original Castlevania: Symphony of the Night used a bridge-like room while the next area was loading into memory.  It was a work-around for keeping action and agency in the hands of the player while sneaking that load time into the background.  With the PS5, load times should be close to non-existant.

I still have my working PSone, PS2, PSP, and PS3 (slim with 240 GB SSD upgrade).  I expect that I am entirely skipping the PS4 and getting a PS5 a few months after the initial release.

From the second video, the hardware and accessories all look prime!  I am definitely thinking the disc drive version would be preferred for me.  I expect that Blu-Ray, DVD, CD media compatibility will be standard.

That does look like an awesome vintage-modern collector's pack :exclamation:

Have you watched Hi-Score Girl yet?  The main character is always talking about Samurai Showdown (when not talking about Street Fighter II).

That was an informative tech video.  Admitting a wrong publicly is a bitter pill.  It is respectful that he set the record straight!
