No one is looking at monitors?

I'm on my third Gigabyte in 8 years. I only had one crap out on me, and that was only because I had it running during a thunderstorm and my surge protector wasn't enough to save it. But besides that I've never had any issues at all with my cards.

@ThravRande Gigabyte is solid like MSI and ASUS.  There are several gamers at work that swear by Gigabyte... and I wouldn't hesitate to buy a Gigabyte.  I guess I wouldn't hesitate to buy MSI or ASUS either... maybe slight hesitation on ASUS lol... I would rather have my nails pulled out with pliers than to have Motherboard issues.

@targetrasp have you been getting into the game?

At least 1-2 other people from work started playing it.  The 1 guy renewed his XBOX LIVE membership just for this game... lol... he's digging it.

The rare replay is fun in small bits for a jaunt down nostalgia lane but it has very little staying power.

Take my critiques with a grain of salt as my video game A.D.D. is in full bloom

I've heard the same thing from several people now - so my guess is that you are SPOT on lol... regardless of gaming ADD.

So my cousin took his ps4 out of the living room and put it in his bedroom so that freed up a spot in the main room and I put my xbone there. Maybe it'll get some use out of it now.

Yeah.. lol... I'll keep watching it as well.  The 1st 6 Episode series wasn't bad.. started out rough... ended better.   I think this needs it's own topic 

OR maybe it's experimental craft of some sort.  It's crazy to read the outer space stories where they see UFO's... obviously unidentifiable... but it would be creepy to be out there and see a UFO of some sort.

Has anyone seen this?  Or actually read it?

Blazing Star (Neo Geo) for the switch... time to post up some SHMUP MADNESS!

Earlier this morning I found a game cube with a bunch of games 3 n64 controls, 1 3rd party gcn controller, and a bunch of those plug into your tv controller / game combos for 12 bucks.

The games are crap, except for a complete copy of Metroid prime, and the gamecube was dirty and missing the center plastic piece on top that says Nintendo. Right now everything is being stored away, but when I get some time i'm going to completely disassemble and clean it up. The kid took great care of it as all the games had the cases and the instructions, there was nothing sticky on any of the games or consoles, and there was only one scratch on the console. I can't believe the condition it was in to be that dirty.

Outside of that I went to Toys R' Us today to check out the going out of business sale and walked away with a play and charge kit for my xbone as well as a copy of the Zelda collector's edition of monopoly.

Ooo... I wonder if we should do something board game related on the boards?  thoughts?  Zelda Collectors edition of Monopoly sounds pretty cool.  I have an older Nintendo edition that was awesome.

and $12 buck... prime is a pretty good game... I would like to revisit that game.

Been my dream to own one with the games I would like to have. I had to settle for the  Neo Geo CD.

I hear you... I got into it a long time ago.  At today's priced... It's hard for a lot of people.  Plus with the games being offered on Steam (SNK Games on Steam) and other virtual platforms such as the switch (SNK games on the Nintendo Switch)

Even seeing the games now at $7.99, I think that's a bit high for "virtual" emulated games.   However, the format is pretty good on them.  Another topic will be created on these in the future.


I broke out the Neo Geo AES the other day... I think it's time to start covering the Neo Geo AES again.... played several games with a friend in town over Easter.  It was a good time, but the Neo Geo doesn't format extremely well on today's TV's.

The Neo Geo CD was no joke  - it had great sound and clarity of image was great!  I think we need another topic to cover that as well.

It seems the Neo Geo crowd has been dwindling - Hopefully we can gain more interest out there again.  I bought a few of the switch Nintendo shop titles recently... plan to cover those in the near future.

Good find @retro junkie how doesn't this play?  Is it like anything else?

It seems this game has high ratings and low price.  So maybe it was lost in the shuffle and other gaming releases?  This is the 1st I've heard of it or haven't seen it in awhile.

On the go... what Shmups do you play?  What are the best you've found so far? And for what platform?

I'm rather interested in this topic as I'm looking for more Shmups to play and love a good Shmup!

Ever since I sold off the Neo Geo AES and the Turbo Grafx 16 I've missed the shmups... I had tons of good ones between those two systems.

Hard to believe you sold that stuff off. Shmups... can't live without them.

I haven't bought yet but I'm trying to decide if I want the steam or PS4 version.  Even thinking about the Vita versions... Shmups on the go! He... that's a good post idea

Some of the comments are pretty cool too. Like they said when the planes were landing, their nose edges were still glowing orange a bit from the first fiction.

Could anyone help test this out?  I would appreciate the assistance if you can lend a hand.

Something interesting to note...  the red / blue joy cons are reverse color and slightly more brilliant than the blue/ red joy cons included with the switch.

So with the switch, they are blue (left) and red (right).  In the joy con package, they are red (right) and blue (left).

I guess this combination allows you to use all red and blue colors if you wish. The red is definitely more brilliant and not as dull in the joy con pack.

Friend was over during family Easter party - and we broke out the Neo Geo Aes.  1st time in a very long time.

Totally get what you're laying down.

I'm not sure it's possible to get the same cinematography...  that type of equipment just isn't used. I know they can do a lot with new equipment.   But it's like a guitarist trying to find an old pedal to get an original sound because new equipment tries but cannot achieve.  There's other newer equipment that's progressed and sounds better in some ways.... But cannot achieve an exact sound achieves in the past.

They definitely don't have the same chemistry.  Life moved on.  It's different for both of them.  I I noticed the same exact things you did.

I'm just happy to see new X-Files lol.  The 2nd movie was super rough. And they didn't use the theme song. In the new episodes... there were a couple good episodes.  But Mulder's thoughts were super forced as he was monologuing  ... at least that's what I think you call it. 

Call of duty modern warfare. I remember being so immersed  in the experience. Nothing has been like it since.  The scene where the nuke goes off and you crash.. Next scene shows your crawling out and while looking around at all the environment effects and buildings crumbling in the effects of the bomb. 

Not sure I'll experience something like that again. 

Diablo 2 - was a very addictive game...  but not sure it hit the emotions as much.

@SpartanEvolved mentioned the last of us hit the feels pretty hard. 

I get what you're saying.

Sometimes it's costs a bit more to buy local but it's worth it.  We support quite a few small businesses. Coffee shops, restaurants,  art galleries / centers , and other stuff. 

It's impossible to support local guitar stores anymore. Well.  We have one that I support but they've probably eclipsed guitar center in size... which is OK...but they've bought other local stores out as well and incorporated them into their store. That's cool in its own right as those places live on in this place . But they're doing the same thing as the big guys... and getting Involved in local politics.  That part I don't totally agree with... but ...

They've put a massive dent into guitar center here...

This. I worked for Kmart during a liquidation when they closed all the stores in my county. I worked ad set in the soft home section for 2 years. Almost every week pillows were on sale for at least 30-40% off and they sold okay, not amazing but people did buy some. First week of liquidation they were only 10% off and I came in the next day and literally every pillow got bought. Made me cry a little inside.

Ugh that's so frustrating and dumb. I have many other stories like this   ...

There used to be a furniture store around here that would go out of business every couple years.  Don't know what the story was - wasn't privy to it... but it I bet they made a decent amount doing that. Now they're. Closed for good - as far as I know.

The new seasons are OK. Not as good but good to see them again.

I would personally like a nice looking dark theme. If there is one already, sorry I just didn't see it lol.

I will look into that!  Nice looking is subjective lol. So we can look at a couple. Maybe I'll create our custom theme and a dark variant. Or maybe our theme will be darker. Looking into this.

Enjoying the forum? After the silence of EGA? It is great being around something that is alive. I am sorry that I cannot be more active at the moment. Work and life in general has been hogging time. I do spend spare time thinking out what to post next. I am going through some old material. Working on updating for new posts.

It's good to be back ... and have something active again.  Working on making this better than before. I know we have a lot of memories, but there are things I think that could've been better.  That's what I'd like to accomplish.  Some of that will be development. Working on that now and quoting a couple other things out.

Also trying to make sure everyone has a chance for input - if they wish too provide.

Own one and play it?   It looks like the Neo Geo AES market has gone through the roof in the last few years.  It has always been high (price wise)... but appears to be even higher.

With that said... is there anyone that still owns their Neo Geo AES?  IF so, what are you playing these days?  What got you into the Neo Geo?

Thougts on Site, Features, Layouts and Sections - Round 2!

[Since the 1st topic, the following has been implemented]

Your thoughts - Round 2 - thoughts on the site, features, layouts and sections.    The forums are now a little older than 2 months!  1st off How is everyone enjoying the forums?

What do you think about the sections and layouts?  Anything you would like to see?    I know @targetrasp mentioned stuff about the old forum he liked... and it is 100% ok to mention other features from places you'd like to see.  Features / boards / categories...etc.  We can mold it our way and make something of it.  We might not be able to implement everything, but throw it out there!

Since the 1st topic, the following has been implemented:

Looking at the following:  New custom theme (similar, but I will develop with our logo) and custom smiley set... something custom like we had before.

Thank you for all your help and input - please keep it up and posting.  The more we keep up conversations, the more members we will acquire in the near future.  I've started to advertise the boards a bit - working to get more traffic here. 

New Ideas:
1.) Gaming Backlog Tracker - we may split this out to its own topic.
2.) Dark Theme
3.) URL Transformer - make URLs of the board a nicer format - may do this
4.) Topic Tagging - so we can start making "tags" for topics.  I Think this could aid in searching... but also organizing posts by tags in the future - May do this.
