Coming out in May - Dark Souls for the Nintendo Switch.  From what I read, it's a port... but for some reason, I'm still very excited for this game.

yeah... I hear you .  I have a nice set of Logitech speakers with massive subwoofer.  IT does the job for the room... extraordinarily well.

Been looking for something that fits right... these are good but trying to decide.

There is the recent promise to do more first party games. I hope it turns out to be a similar promise that Sony has made. But I think Sony has seen the effect that it has had on the success of their system. More single player story driven games. I can get into a good story driven game and I compare that to a good book.  i wish to see the same type of support that the 360 had, good library.

That is true... it is very much like a good book.  The visuals happen on screen instead of your head.   If you don't see it play out in your mind while your reading... you're not doing it right 

I thought the 360 was alright... very good for games like Gears of War and Halo...  but most other games I tended to buy on the PC.   I was super excited to see Gears of War was getting a Windows 10 release... but became sad when I found out I had to have an XBOX LIVE membership to play online... and for other features.

Gears of War,  Halo, and more... PAnzer needs to show up on the PS4 though.  I want that game there

I get what your co-worker is saying.  It has impacted me more in recent times.  Not for graphics sake... but they are FINALLY more interactive to the point where it is important to see what's on screen.  However, this doesn't mean all retro games "have bad graphics"... that's not what I'm saying.  If you have grainy graphics in the games of today... you will miss certain objectives.   Graphics where physics are involved (environment effects... even down to rain drops) impact the mood of the games. 

Graphics for graphics sake are punished by the gamers of today though.  From what I've seen, you can have a classic 2D or Classic 3D style game do well.  The Indie market thrives on Steam.  Many gamers look towards these games... but Graphics for graphics sake are really left behind.   Gamers are more fickle too.. if the game doesn't have EVERYTHING THEY WANT... they will not spend time (waste time in their eyes) on it.   That's not necessarily a bad place to be though... why? we only have so much time on Earth.

There are games I used to love... but it's hard to go back.  I will say it's due to gameplay more-so than graphics though. Your co-worker not going back to PS3 games is very extreme.  Ps3 games (visually and gameplay wise) HAVE NOT deprecated that much.  It's not like the N64 to Gamecube... or Saturn / PS1 to Ps2 jump we saw.  Playstation 3 still looks pretty good.

Release Date appears to STILL be March 16th.  I will have it 1st day... and let me know if anyone else has this game.

I have a several levels... we don't really create them often anymore... but might start up again. Super Mario Maker is a very fun game.   There are features they could add for Super Mario Maker 2... but plenty are offered in Super Mario Maker for now.   The most annoying this are the troll levels in Expert that tend to pop up... and those levels where you must hold right immediately or you can forget about beating the level.

Do you have levels published?  I've been thinking about creating something around here for when members create levels.  They could be shared up via post in a certain board... or something like that.

I'm definitely not ok with Paying for online... but it doesn't seem like we have much of a choice anymore.  So far, the Playstation 4 has been a pretty good console.  It started off a bit slow but is now gaining steam in the titles offered.

If you haven't seen Korra , you should check it out.  I like the humor much better in The Last Airbender and like it better overall.   Korra is much darker and more for older audiences... a must seen though and it is well done.

I love Bangai o and son and punishment.  I have them both... also sin and punishment was released on the wii virtual console... of course it was a must buy.  If anyone hasn't played sin and punishment - please look for it in the virtual console section on Nintendo. I don't know if it's there for the switch or not yet.

The transformers game looks interesting. I need to review it a bit more.  Thank you for showing it... didn't know it exists!

Rakuga kids looks very interesting. And I agree... developers should've tried more 2d games on the Nintendo 64.

Star soldier... I bought the us release and loaned my cart to someone.  I forgot who.... never got it back.

It really does.  Looks like midway ported it for Atari. 

It's stated that both games were released in October 1997 and Mace the Dark Age was the "clone" of a game.  However for either to clone... it would've had to have been at the arcade level due to release dates.

They are probably due to remake/ remaster the game again.  With..... trophies / achievements.

I'm not sure if this runs in same Anime Bloodline as you mention, but I am a big fan of Avatar the Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra.  Those were just really well done... and if you haven't watched both series all the way through, you should do that.  Great story lines...

People are raving about the motion controls that were just recently implemented. I'll probably pick it up if it ever drops below $10.

Oh man... I completely forgot about that game.  IT was a lot of fun.  Correct me if I'm wrong, but this was a direct competitor to Killer Instinct.

In a way... you see some of the same action in Mortal Kombat 4 when it graced the N64.   I was a big fan of Mortal Kombat 4... It wasn't as crazy as the Mortal Kombats today... but it still had the action that made you laugh when you juggled someone, or the way you made them flip.

Does anyone still play this?  Thrav mentioned it to me today... we were talking about how it would be fun to get a few people together for a campaign run through.  Not sure we would get enough for versus.

This used to be the game to play...  We used to play this as a group all the time.  I'd be interested in starting something up and playing.

Well, what I'm saying is the following go to retro -

• PS3
• 360
• DS
• Wii

As for the 3DS playing DS games, I personally wouldn't count backwards compatibility. All of the current gen systems have some form of BC but they wouldn't be considered retro.

What if the servers are still running in 20 years? I don't think this would be a good metric to consider something retro or not but that's just me. PS3 servers are being shut down more quickly than 360. Hell, there are some current gen servers that are being shut down now and people are pretty pissed about that.

I'm starting to reconsider - I made a decision to make a decision but was thinking about this again / rereading responses. I really should stop over analyzing .   I still am leaning with creepn's  suggestion.  Which isn't a hard thing to implement now.  But the question comes when it's time for PS4 to move to retro, do we move all PS4 topics or do we leave PS4 as 'current' for the future.

This is abbot reason why at ega I had a board for each system (roughly).  It easily answered the question.  But I think these days, that makes the boards too narrow.  I could be wrong on that
