I have not picked up Battlefield V and probably won't unless EA sells it for $5 like the previous versions. I'm just not into shooters that much at the moment.

Professional is the hardest difficulty in the game. I recommend this game even in lower difficulty settings. It's the greatest game of all time!

Did you get much play time with it at all?

It's more than likely never coming out of the box for me. It's sitting on a shelf looking pretty with the others.

Seems like Sony simply wanted this out for Christmas and didn't pay attention to its development. My guess is straight up laziness.

DF Retro did their review. Yeah, it's quite a mess. I received mine and have it sitting with my other mini consoles.

I just finished another playthrough on Resident Evil 4. I haven't done a Professional run on Steam so I went ahead and did that this week. Might start RE5 next.

You don't buy a threadripper CPU for gaming. You can game with it but it's not going to be any better, or actually be somewhat worse, than a four core or six core CPU.

These are for the programs that are heavily threaded or if you do lots of heavy multitasking. If you do any rendering, these are the CPUs for you.

Word on the street is that a few of these games are the PAL region versions which means that they will be running at 50hz even for the North America release. Not sure what Sony is doing and who is running this project. Pretty sloppy if you ask me.

I've been listening to Metallica's ...And Justice For All album since it was recently re-released.

Mainly just been sticking to the classic's lately like Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest & Ozzy. I haven't been able to get into a lot of the metal bands that have come out in the last decade but I'll have to check them out a bit more. Need to broaden my horizons.

I bought this a while ago off of Amazon. Haven't had a chance to get to it though. Might try to finish Spider-Man first.

If anyone can pull it off, it's Microsoft. They're the only console company who is actually porting over past games to the latest console for free. Most even have 4K enhancements and some are even from the first generation Xbox. Nintendo and Sony are not doing that and I feel that's going to hurt them somewhat.

That makes having a digital console much more appealing, knowing that my titles from the past are more than likely coming with me. It needs to happen for consoles to evolve further. Less waste and smaller footprints. Microsoft should probably create a disc-less Xbox One S to test it out.

My experience so far is that it looks nice on my shelf, lol. 

I haven't opened it and I don't plan on it. Especially since it's not exactly blowing people away with its greatness, or lack thereof.

This created a trip down the metal rabbit hole, Megadeth, Pantera, Judas Priest, Death, King Diamond, and Iron Maiden, to name a few. I got back and revisit the 80's and 90's often but the 80's is always the awesome pop music (yeah I can't believe I just said awesome and pop music together either) and the 90s for the grungy Seattle sounding stuff. Classic Metal just doesn't get the recognition it deserves.

Metallica was good but Lars ruined it for me when he led the charge against Napster. Now it seems Nintendo is pulling a Lars (haha steered it back on topic) and as much as I love Nintendo I hate what they're trying to do. I've seriously hated Metallica since their part in the downfall of Napster, similar could happen with Nintendo.

I think the difference between now and then is that Metallica wasn't about limiting availability. Their music was still widely available to purchase, it was more about how much was their art worth to you and how much it was worth to them. You could argue that if it wasn't for that case, we probably wouldn't have the streaming boom we do now and make things better for artists in today.

In Nintendo's case, they want to completely limit where and how you play these older games that you can't easily play anymore without jumping through hoops anyways.

@BLUEVOODU - Ozzy did this back in the early '00's too, or at least, his management did. Don't ever buy his '80's remastered albums released during that time since they replaced the bassist and drummer due to writing credits/royalties. They eventually came to their senses and they released the albums as they originally were. Not sure why Mustaine would want to do this, it never made sense to me.

As for games, looks like Nintendo just won their lawsuit in these cases and has been awarded "$12 million". They won't ever get that back since they sued a married couple and they more than likely don't have that amount of money but it's a thing. I'm just shaking my head at all of this and makes me dislike Nintendo even more.

In the news of other 1st World Problems... I want to buy a second switch... but cannot get myself to spend the money... nor should I.

You should at least wait for the new version if you do end up getting one. Next year is just around the corner.

When picking a Distro it is either hit or miss trying to sort through the clutter. You can have a fully compatible computer, whether it be desktop or laptop. But when it comes to selecting a Distro, you end up trying and trying until you find one that will work with all of your hardware. The disappointment comes in when it isn't the one you wanted.

This is where I would say Ubuntu excels at. I have tons of hardware, both old and new, and so far I have not encountered any issues. I also hear good things about Fedora but I haven't tried it.

I also surf the net. Because of this, at some point I, or a user, will need to upgrade to a newer Distro. A Linux rolling release distribution is the best route to go. You will have a long term support with updates, usually five years, using that same install. Point release Distros, you need to do a full install to get the newer release of updates, usually every six months. If you have brought to life older hardware, as I like to do, at some point you will no longer be able to upgrade to a newer Distro release. Why? Because at some point a newer Distro release may have needs for a bigger faster processor, graphics card, require more power, more ram, etc. You can use older hardware to run linux just fine on an older distribution. But going on the net there might be some sites, like this one for example, in which an older browser cannot access. (Going to a lite weight Linux Distros can resolve this issue.)

Yeah, now that the web and cloud are dominating the computing space, you need a machine that can run all of that code properly. It's not the distros' fault, but the software creators who use the latest code to run their programs.

Honestly, I feel we need to move away from 32-bit. Once that gets completely deprecated, older machines shouldn't be hit as hard and should be able to use the latest distro keeping them running longer. I believe Ubuntu is already doing this and MacOS is also in the process. iOS is completely 64-bit now if I'm not mistaken. Don't know if Windows will be able to do it but they should. It's time.

This is what I love about Linux. There are distros for enthusiasts, for the low spec user and everyone else in between. Windows can't escape the business side of things because it makes them lots of money so they're stuck on what they can improve upon and release.

Also, Linux is much better at supporting multiple CPU cores than Windows. I plan on building an AMD Threadripper machine sometime next year and unfortunately Windows sucks at balance loading across all of the cores that Threadripper has.

I personally stay away from gaming headsets. They can be clunky or uncomfortable and you're mostly paying for the feature set than sound quality.

That's not to say they're all bad. There are some good headsets out there, I just don't go for them since I already have great headphones.

With that said, I personally use the Philips SHP9500S. They have a detachable cable which I can replace with a VMODA Boom Mic.

These can plug into a PS4 controller or one of the later Xbox One controller revisions that has a 3.5mm jack. Unfortunately, it looks like Amazon doesn't have those headphones in stock. They're usually $75. Newegg tends to carry them too for that price. Also, I lent this combo to a friend to try on his XB1 controller. He said that it was difficult to hear other people but since I don't own an XB1 I can't verify how true that is. When using it on a PC, I was able to hear the game fine but since I don't play multiplayer, I couldn't check if the Voice Chat was low there too.

Oh and they're open headphones too which means sound will leak a lot.

Considering games hold your hand and have in depth tutorials before you begin your campaigns, they're not really necessary. It also saves money.

Personally, I think it's better to have less paper being used so I'm fine with no manuals. It also makes it easier to collect since you don't have to worry about your game being incomplete if you buy it second hand.

Mine is still sealed in the box. I don't plan on opening it anytime soon.

For this older PC, no, I didn't dual boot. It's mostly just to be an emulation PC. The Processor could still be better but it gets the job done. I've mostly been doing things through the command line. The only thing I didn't do through the command line was the installation of the NVIDIA drivers. Ubuntu handles that really easily. Way easier than on Windows.

Yeah, I don't feel it's worth the money either but on the other hand, for Ray Tracing to take off we need these early adopters to buy into them. Devs aren't going to make the games if no one has the hardware. There is some lack of competition but this time around, it's probably because NVIDIA can and they're the only card with ray tracing tech.

@CreepinDethFrom what I understand, There's still the potential of an AMD and Intel team up in the next year (ish) time frame.

I haven't looked into it too much but I see this being more of a low power, laptop thing. Intel chips are more efficient so it makes sense. I don't see this being a thing on the desktop with Ryzen 2 on the horizon.

@I'm starting to wonder if AMD still has the spirit of ATI.  ATI used to bring out awesome cards.  NVIDIA was having trouble keeping up in the 2007-2010 range.  Then it seems like they put on a full assault since 2013 (ish) time frame.

AMD is getting better. They may not be on the same plane as NVIDIA but with Vulkan and DX12 becoming more mainstream, I would expect that gap to close.

This is one of the reasons I don't pay full price for games anymore. They're incomplete and I have to use up bandwidth even for boxed copies of games. That said, as long as the devs fix the game to an acceptable level, then that's at least something. Devs who abandon their games after a patch or two with bugs still prevalent leave a bad impression.

Nice. I'm about jump all in on Linux. I just updated an old PC of mine and threw Ubuntu on it and played Tomb Raider (2013) on it. Ran pretty great.

For most, it's already like that. So I would say, yes.

The re-release shipped with some pretty glaring issues (cutscene camera breaking being one of the most common.) The devs have been patching it since release though and it looks like the next patch is going to get this game to where it should be.

However, for me, I only ran into one bug and it was a background sound lasting until I triggered another sound. So not everyone runs into these game breaking issues but they can happen. It hurt this release for sure.

So... can the gaming library be expanded?  IE can you add more library packs or whatever to the PlayStation Classic to expand the gaming library?

Doesn't look like it. However, I fully expect hackers to crack it open just like they did with the (S)NES Classics and add more.

I feel like I should be more excited for this...

Yeah, they only announced 5 games but I do expect at least a Resident Evil title, Metal Gear Solid and Symphony of the night. Maybe Silent Hill as well.

I would love to see Twisted Metal 2 and/or Tony Hawk 2.
