@targetrasp I am using the money that I am saving on gas to help make payments. That was part of the plan. The battery has a range of 37miles. I am only using about 12miles daily for work and that is because of regenerative braking. I am using the battery around town. It being a small town everything is within 2 to 3 miles from home, stores, etc. Work is 6.4miles one way. If we decide to take a trip, we would use the gas powered generator. I can get 250miles out of it. Right now this is working out great for us.

I don't know how I ended up with my car being 20 years old. I guess it is because that it has been such a good car over the years, until now. It turned into a money pit this year. Last Saturday the engine blew on my 1999 Malibu in the middle of the road. And I am thinking in my mind I have to pay a bill on a repair from two weeks ago, does not relate to todays breakdown. I only have one car and this is it.
For the last three months, maybe? I have been researching vehicles planning when I retire next year to purchase a new car with my Malibu as a backup second car. That has not happened. I had to use my research, pros & cons, now! Without going into details I ended up going with Carvana and picking a 2014 Chevy Volt.
My seven day trial period ends tomorrow. And I am going to keep this. The car is in mint condition, well taken care of. It is electric with a built in gasoline generator. Very fun to drive. 

@BLUEVOODU I was using chrome. It is chrome that is the problem. Using Safari worked!!! Go figure.

That is totally insane.

Do you think that the next generation will be any better? I haven't looked into the situation to know what the new consoles offer. I have seen the pictures of the PS5 being flashed around. It is negligent on the part of the industry to not address the two achilles' heel of modern systems, load times and broken games that need updates. And the constant system updates to the consoles, I find it irritating. And I get it that it is mostly hacking issues and security. Too bad they can't close all the holes before they launch a console.

I haven't turned my XBOX ONE on in over a year, maybe two. Can't remember. Sorry but it be like that with me. I should have known. It needs to make an update before I can play a game. The update is almost 4g. This is one of the reasons I hate modern consoles. Retro gaming is so easy, push in a game and flip the switch.

This so rubs my fur the wrong way, if it isn't a system update then it is the game. And I am not sure at this point whether the game I want to put in has some sort of update or install period I will have to endure. Just purchased Pacman Championship Edition 2. Surely not, please.

If there is anything the next generation needs to resolve it is the loading of the game. There needs to be some changes in the technology. That issue needs to be addressed badly. Back to carts? Not sure. But the DVD, Blu Ray are outdated as a gaming medium with the amount of data that needs to be juggled for modern gaming. I have gotten my fill of it during the PS3 and XBOX 1.

Not sure what they can do about system update, they are such a pain.

I liked that last movie, thought it was good, even though there were those moments that made it fit in with the rest. I am talking about the stuff that I felt was hard to swallow. But every Star Wars movie has had its little quirks. Those moments that make you say "Whuuut?" "Why did they do this?" But to erase something from cannon? Especially because you didn't like it? Or because you thought it failed?
I thought the plan was to move on into a new adventure and leave the Skywalker legacy behind. Create something new, fresh. Go back to the original three and study them, understand why they worked. They were based on a "time period" of cliffhanger serials stuffed into a space opera adventure. As we can see it is hard to repeat that stuff. Trying to evolve that into a normal movie has its issues and problems. Back then they even created new ways to use in making special effects to use in the movies.

I got mine earlier this week but just opened it today. I was kind of waiting for my July forth vacation time off. It started a little earlier than expected. Someone tested positive for COVID-19 at work, so I decided to add a few days. Just opened this today. I have collected some odd handhelds through the years, imports. Most have been a mixed bag.
@targetrasp I will have to agree with you on this one. This will only appeal to a niche market. Very limited in what it has to offer, nostalgic, retro gaming interests, and stuff for collectors. 

Out of the box I found myself playing Centipede in the Atari collection, Fighter's History on the Data East, and Earth Worm Jim on the Interplay cart.
Yeah and removing the cart from the console is a major ordeal. It brings back memories of the old 1950's Day the earth stood still movie, I know I saw a door here somewhere, but it is now seamless. They should have spent a little more time on fixing that.

I am impressed with the screen because I was not expecting much at all, console has a sturdy feel in the build.

I will also look forward to collecting all of the games. The system, as a whole, offers me one of those items that I would pull out and fiddle with occasionally. And that is just because it does contain games from a bygone era that I do not have in my collection. I never owned or played the Atari 2600, or any of the Atari systems except the Jag.

Celebrating 43 years, my wife and i this weekend. My wife knows me very well and got me this as a gift on our anniversary.
After my experience with Genesis, Neo Geo, and Turbo Grafx minis, I have been wanting the NES and SNES minis. I have been also eyeing the Famicom mini.

One thing that hit me right out of the box are the tiny controllers. But these things work great. I am impressed. The original Famicom had the controllers attached to the console. This is a con in that the cords are short and you need to be near the console in order to play. I have no problem with my set-up, but this could be a deal breaker with some gamers. They work for me. But they are the only controllers that you can use.


As I was trying out games, I noticed a file that said more games. Clicked and it opened up a ton of surprises. My wife knows nothing about this stuff. She just happened to get one of these things that someone hacked. It has over 900 NES games most in english. This thing is brand new in the box with all of its wrappings.

The games look great over my flat screen. I really don't like the scanline mode. There is too much fuzzy blur, I think that is the best way of describing it. Rather play on the other modes. The sharp  clear images don't bother me.
The console is a pretty solid build. Loving this thing. Nintendo done good.

the addition of that back piece did make the power and hdmi cable attachment a little odd.

I really didn't mind the back piece, easily removed, if you ever owned one. It was the little cramped area you had to negotiate in order just to plug in. That is unacceptable.

Really it is not a bad price for a complete package. It offers a very positive out of the box experience vs the purchase of the just the unit. And there is just enough difference in the game list that it causes me to want one even though I have the International version. Not sure what color.

I have been working at my job through the whole pandemic shutdown. We have government contracts and they simply put it, we don't care what your governor says we want our stuff. My group, we kept working. Our company at one point did reduce the workforce. Right now they are trying to recover and bring everyone back, but I personally don't think they will be successful in doing that. I think there are going to be changes.
I have mixed feelings about the whole COVID-19 not being as intensely wide spread as they had supposed. It is bad if you come into contact with it and fatal to certain people my age especially combined with medical issues. I am not sure if our correct response was to shut everything down for as long as we did or to consider the herd immunity thing. I am watching to see if we suddenly have a bad spike as people become more relaxed during the summer months. People will forget and become more comfortable, and careless. Not knowing anything about the new virus, I don't consider anyone being an expert. I do weigh every bit of information.
I continue being cautious myself by wearing a mask and gloves when I need to be out, and while I work. Not sure how effective those items are. If you stop to think through everything about how you can become contaminated, it becomes overwhelming. And being out, I limit myself to work and purchasing necessities. My wife and daughter have not ventured out from the home during this whole thing.  I get stripped down and washed at the door. Anything I bring into the house, like groceries, become quarantined and dwelt with in that manner. We are not paranoid, just taking precautions.
I have no idea at what point we will ever eat out again, or get takeout for that matter. It may be next year if there are no bad repercussions from everyone enjoying their summer fun. I have been making my own pizza from scratch.

I have not yet seen it. I do not have CBS All Access. I have seen one episode that CBS threw up on Youtube. It really did not leave me with wanting more. But it might be one of those things in which I need to see several episode before it pulls me in. I got to have a reason to want to see an elderly Picard.
I think my big question when being confronted with shows like this, is, why do we have the need to look back? Is this some type, or form, of nostalgia manifesting itself. I am starting to cringe when I see them pull a character out of mothballs just to have a continuation of something we felt back then. Can writers and directors not come up with something unique while recreating the same type of magic that we felt in those series? Is it too much to ask for something fresh in perspective of a future sci-fi that does go where no man has gone before? Maybe this time have them to actually explore the far reaches of our imagination? I don't know, I really only want to remember these Star Trek characters the way, I remember them. From those old episodes, that I pull out and watch, occasionally.
Before, the characters, in their future, was left to our imagination. I guess without watching the series, my question, has my imagination been molested, to those who have watched it? 

@BLUEVOODU Honestly this is well done. Love it. I am impressed with the visuals. Jaggies are noticeable but that is the nature of the beast.

I had no intention of saving my original TG16 box. Just so happens that it is a storage box for photos and negatives.
I don't know if it is just me but I had a difficult time plugging the power cord into the system. Fat fingers I guess. I know the whole nostalgic thing but that could have been designed a bit better than what we got.
First game I played was Lords of Thunder. I found no slow down, good experience. Nothing like many interviews that I have watched.
One of the warnings caught my eye. "Do not wrap the controller cable around your neck to avoid risk of suffocation."

I have started Star Trek: Enterprise. It is another one that I bailed on back then. It started losing me after they changed the intro song. And another series that had a war that dragged on and on and on.

@BLUEVOODU I don't know. This is mainly for those who have the carts and disc, hard copy. The support would depend on how quick they can deliver on all of the promises, every gaming system on their list. (Biting off more than they can chew?) Compatibility would be the big issue, how faithful to the real thing. The issue could easily kill it. The casual gamer is not going to invest heavy into a console. The clone system is enough for them. The concept is unique and heavily depends on that homestation's durability. That would be a lot of investing if you got into a lot of those systems. It is totally a niche system that is assuming that I am looking for something like this for my gaming collection.  The big question, is there a market out there for something like this? Is retro gaming that big? I know it is with me, but...............

I didn't mean to be skeptical and analyze this console. This is just the way it hit me when looking at their site. The price point is the achilles heel for wide acceptance, and for me. I know a few retro gamers around me, but it is difficult to know just how big the love of old stuff really is. I have a local game store that carries a lot of the carts & discs, at least I am hoping they have survived the virus. But I am not sure of  how fast the games move off the shelf. When forums, in our present culture, are no longer a place of sharing the love, it is difficult to find people that are into the retro stuff. And it causes a question as to how hot retro gaming is in our present generation. Let's face it, forums are no longer a connection point for gamers. That is why we do not have a flood of members, sorry.
