Who started this thread?
LOL you started this thread.

We are a bit behind right now.  I just finished up my Capstone with a Caltech CTME program... so I was under water for the last 3-4 weeks.  The 1st episode... was odd... but good.  I'm not sure how they're going to keep continuing on at this point.

We are getting ready to watch Episode 2...  very soon!  I keep hearing Ep 2 is awesome.
#482
well... after how long it took for the Lego Skywalker Saga to come out, I would no longer assume something is a placeholder lol  ;D

GREAT POST @CreepinDeth  ... I am going to pre-order as well.  This is quite a collection!

@retro junkie  -- exactly... we noticed it made it over to Disney+ with a few other Marvel shows that are ... not that great lol.

@CreepinDeth  -- we are just finishing season 1 and moving to season 2.  Now I'm pumped to see more after what you mentioned.  It would be interesting if they would play off this a bit more in the new series and movies.  IE with Coulson being alive..etc.  They never really did address it in the movies.

I'm hoping to give this a shot soon... did either of you give a test yet?
#485
Man... this is looking cooler and cooler.  Thank you for posting this, @CreepinDeth

I'm still months away from being able to get mine.  Did you get yours yet?

To kick this off... we have been trying to catch up on Space Force.  It's not the greatest... but there are definitely some funny parts.  We are also working through Agents of Shield.  Agents of Shield is pretty well done.  I cannot believe I missed it.

I linked a couple other topics to the shows I mentioned.  Join in those conversations as well!

What are your thoughts @Mai Valentine @SpartanEvolved @mastermario  @JR_McG @targetrasp @trkorecky @medataoh @MegaDrive20XX @Snatcher_L ?  We haven't heard from you in while.

Post it up!

What are you currently binging?  what have you missed that you want to binge?  What do you want to binge again?  Add some details!

The ending of the season was pretty cool in my opinion... and it made me want to go back at watch Karate-Kid part iii.... which, I didn't remember at all. I thought I watched them all, but I think I missed that one.  I did miss the Hilary Swank and Jaden Smith version as well.  I am going to go back and review them.

The board scene was ... whatever.  It is interesting that they brought in Katas.  If you ever saw Karate competitions, most had something like this.  It at least brought it back to being a bit more  "realistic" even though hesitate to use that word.  I have yet to see sparring in Karate like in Karate Kid.  Most are Taekwondo style point sparring.  Again, I'm not claiming to have a ton of experience with this, but I have seen a few competitions... 1 was recent (small show).

Well... I Am bumping this topic because I was going to do it ... then it slipped my radar.   Hopefully it can and will stay on the radar.  I am booked solid the next 2 months... but gaming and some other things are coming back after that.

I am at that stage where I'm trying to look at sourcing the parts.  The link you sent was helpful for information... just need to find sources now.  I also have a Guitar bridge replacement project that's going to happen soon (1st)... as it's been waiting longer.  time...  :o

Retro Gaming and Hardware / Re: The Wii's Blue Light

yeah... when it's "asleep," it's orange as long as it has power.   Then it glows blue when there are updates, system updates, messages via the console / Nintendo / other people.  All that was turned off in 2013 or 2014.  Either way... The blue light really prompts interesting memories from that time.

PC Rigs, Builds, and Peripheral Devices / Rocky Linux

Has any one slammed through Rocky Linux yet?  Many of the CentOS team went over to Rocky Linux after CentOS went to their new Stream model.  I'm a long fan of CentOS... and have used many other Linux variants.  I have not checked it out yet... but looking into it.

Check Rocky Linux out:

I agree some prices will come down... but the last time I've been able to buy a USA Jackason Guitar for $1150-1200 was back in 1998.  Some of the USA made guitars jumped recently from $2700 to $4400.  Housing prices have only increased hard since 2013... and will never hit the mid 2000's prices ever again unless something catastrophic happens.  Building an i7 rig in 2007/2008 was expensive.  In 2013, building with the same top of the line materials was a bit cheaper.  However, from 2013 on.. prices have been increasing for components.

What incentive do companies have to fix this when companies like Ford are making their best years ever during product shortages because they're charging higher prices due to short supply...?  There's really no incentive to fix the scenario.  I'm sure they will or will be forced to at some point.  Hopefully it will come to an end and prices level out.

@CreepinDeth  --> Wii24 actually still made the Wii glow? They turned that service off... I'm not sure even what update or what the system could've even done to activate the light.

@retro junkie yeah... we migrated to the Wii U for most everything... but still have the Wii connected for Gamecube discs. Though... it started having troubles lately with Certain Gamecube discs...  :o Sad face...  :(

Back when the Wii came out and the 1st year ... it was pretty cool to message people on the Wii.  Some of the apps were pretty cool... including the weather App.  I don't know why, it was just fun at times to use it.   Either way, seeing the system light up was pretty cool and bright.  You're right... it was really bright lol  ;D
#496
@retro junkie  seriously?  you had 3 Lynx systems?  I would've really liked to have played multi-player WarBirds!  I'm sure that could be intense.  If you play Gates of Zendocon again... post up your thoughts and how it held up.

The switchblade... that's funny.  We watched The Karate Kid Series lately...  I had completely forgot about the switch blade craze.

@Grindspine  man.. we played Aliens Vs Predator forever that one night trying to figure it out.  Man... good times.  That was fun.

Inflation, higher prices, house market, stock market, cars, computers, guitars... the collectors market.  Are we in Bubbles all around?  Are these prices here to stay?

At the beginning of the pandemic, there were embargos on wood, chip shortages progressed with demand and reduced supply, and there were very strange market dynamics in play.   Almost 2 years later, it's worse... car lots are empty, guitar prices are up $1400 on many USA made guitars (some Korean made are $1800 now), and food prices are up as well.  Do you think prices will come back down?  Why or why not?

Start the conversation... post it up!

nice! good score.  I was thinking of upgrading to a new laptop with a 3080.  The price jumped hard on them.  IT costs about $3000 to touch certain laptops with a 3080 these days.  The stock has lagged so much though, I'm wondering if it makes sense to just wait until the next iteration of laptops.  With Prices as high as they are, it may be prudent to wait.  Though... do we really think prices will come back down or are the prices here to stay?

I somehow missed this post ... cool stuff @Grindspine   The 2060 is still pretty good. It's really only a generation behind the current generation... so it should have a good amount of life left in it.

It's definitely looking good.  I'd love to do this again at some point.  I think I am going to stay laptops for awhile until I have more room for a desktop system.

It's interesting you're still rocking the velociraptor.  Once you get there and upgrade to m.2 nvme in the future... you're going to be blown away (I think).

Alright... who's checking this out?  It really started off slow... but there's some hilarious parts of the show.  There are several dry parts as well.

My favorite part so far is when they're trying to fix a satellite and their Microsoft Windows machine starts updating lol...  ;D  Malkovich is like "F!@#!@# MICROSOFT" several times.   I cannot tell you how many times at work that an "office update" rebooted my computer without warning.   :o >:(

Thoughts, comments?!  Post it up!

@Grindspine  - I mean... how many other super heroes defy physics.  My guess on that would be like the Super Man can fly... or whatever... so can they.   I didn't look anything up or know the canon back story of the Celestials.  That's my guess though.

@CreepinDeth  lol...  ;D

I'm sure it cost a pretty penny.  I'm not sure how companies do this today... IE does Disney Sub out the work?  Do they have all the equipment and they're upgrading it in house.. therefore, maybe they had extra capacity so the cost was technically sunk?

lol... it was free floating so-to-speak in the vacuum of space, no?  Or did I miss that it was actually standing on something?

It's been a fairly long time since I touched my Atari Lynx.   I saw something today that made me think of WarBirds and some of the old Atari Lynx gaming from awhile back.  Gates of Zendocon was one of my favorite titles.   However, it may not have aged well.  We might need a Gates of Zendocon topic at some point in the near future.

Has anyone recently picked up an Atari Lynx?  IF so... what did you play?  post it up!

Or... the timeline technically pre-dated Endgame... where Captain America goes back in time to do just that.   It's a pretty easy sell.  Technically, there would have been events, if history lived through them... re-written now or not, they would've happened in some historical fashion.
#509
Well then.... looks like I'll be making some plans to do this!  ;D

@CreepinDeth That's pretty cool Microsoft did that... especially in a time when game companies are really trying to capitalize on re-releases and re-masters.  Did they make the games compatible via disc as well so you could just pop in your old game and play it on your new console?

I haven't been watching that closely, but I'm not exactly sure what would make a PS3 game more difficult to get running on a PS5.  Was it due to the programming on the PS3 "special processor" or something like that?
