General Discussion / Re: Hawkeye!

@retro junkie  EVERYTHING seems to be plausible right now.   The directions are infinite...  I wouldn't be shocked if we started seeing other X-men show up (IE Wolverine).

General Discussion / Re: Cobra Kai Revisited

I am fully caught up as well.  LOL... you're better than me then on teenage drama.  I think I'm more...  "hulk smash" on that topic  ;D

I will say, the series has flowed a bit different than I expected in seasons 3 and 4.  I find myself wanting to punch myself in the face for some of the drama I see on screen for the adults too.

However,
Spoiler: ShowHide
Once infighting started with John Kreese and Terry Silver, and Silver started pulling some crap... What happened to Kreese was not a surprise.  At 1st, I thought Silver was going to help Kreese along in a better direction.  That thought was soon destroyed.

I cannot wait for Season 5... stupid drama aside.

General Discussion / Cobra Kai Revisited
January 05, 2022, 10:16:02 PM
Looks like they have approved season 5!  I believe @CreepinDeth posted about this in Cobra Kai - Youtube Red Show.   This is now owned by Netfilx... and we were able to do a limited Netflix membership for a few shows.  I really try to limit the amount of paid memberships at one time... enough of that for now.

We have made it through most of season 3 now... and it's a pretty good show!  I have to say, It is hard to stomach the teenage drama at times.  Overall, it's been a great series.

Is anyone else still checking this out?  @Jack have you started?

@Grindspine - that make sense.  If it wasn't for my son... we probably could get away with 2.  Even back when I was able to game more (thinking when we played Tekken Tag Tournament 2)... I probably could've got away with 2 controllers.  If you can get a standard bundle, the prices aren't HORRIBLE... but they're not going down either.   I will be shocked if prices go back down after Corps were able to get them the last couple years - guitars, games, electronics, cars, houses...etc.  We might see some fluctuations... but I Think it would take a major crash for that to happen. crap... even some guitars I was looking at are now $1000 more due to wood prices... which technically HAVE come back down a bit.  Did those guitar prices? no.  People still bought.

@retro junkie - I think it would be costly to put the size of games today on a cart.  I know the Switch gets away with it.  Maybe I am wrong.  I wish the Ps5 was able to (like the ps3) play ps1-ps3 games.  So far, it's been a good console.  It's quieter for sure... but it's massive.   This is the largest system I have ever owned.  The capabilities are cool... and it's pretty fast.  I also opted for the version where I can play Physical Blu-Rays...etc.

Nice! @Grindspine   Those are pretty cool

@retro junkie  --> You always have the craziest loot ... It's always fun to see what you get.  I'm glad to see you trying out Splatoon... what a fun game.

@targetrasp  --> I know you had some loot lol  ;D

What about you @Mai Valentine, @mastermario , @SpartanEvolved , @MegaDrive20XX

Man... time has flown... I Think the last 2 years have been the fastest with everything going on around the world.

Thank you to all of those that post up... and to all members that decided to join up (even if not active). I will be putting up another suggestions topic.  Little updates have been continually going up to improve the site.  I am also working on things for the future as well.

A bit late, but Happy New Year, everyone!   Here's to a great 2022!

If you haven't been around for awhile... please stop by and post up!  We would love to hear from you.

@CreepinDeth  - what did you not like about the backward compatibility?  So far, it has worked very well for my.

My biggest complaint is that you cannot PS5 games off external storage.   You have to transfer the game to the internal hard drive before playing.

There really isn't a killer app yet... other than you get to play the newer updated games on the PlayStation 5.  I updated my PS4 to a PS5 because it (so far) plays all my old PS4 games... even from the external drive. It was super easy to move all PS4 games over to the PS5 with my 4TB external drive.  They were also immediately playable.

I still have my PlayStation 3 for PS1, 2, and 3 games. That comes in super handy as we are still finishing some PS3 games such as Lego Pirates of the Caribbean.

I will say... it is a beast of a system. It's large.  It's pretty quiet too. But it is large.  You really have to have the real estate for it.

The other negative for me is the cash outlay to get into this system. After 4 controllers and the bundle... it was not cheap. I didn't feel super excited that it took a solid year to acquire one that was not scalped.   I too bought a bundle, but it was all very usable items... no headsets... etc... but there was a GameStop gift card, a 1 year ps plus subscription (at full price.....) and the rest were games.

General Discussion / Re: Hawkeye!

I really enjoyed the 1st season.  I thought it was great.  There definitely could have been a few things done a bit different... and probably expanded it to at least 8 episodes.  I'm not sure why they crammed it into 6 episodes.    I can't wait for season 2.
#551
Great information @CreepinDeth   That's very helpful.    I really dove into this as well... but the information on why it looked the way it did was not readily available.  It also seems that many have had different negative experiences.  I ended up returning the cable... and bought an older spec monster HDMI cable.   However, I couldn't find one at the time for shorter lengths.  I think the new one is 9 feet... and I haven't had a chance to play around with it.

I'm still not ready to retire the plasma.  I love the picture... but there are some newer tvs that are getting more and more tempting.

I see what you're saying @retro junkie  ... and it is pretty cool to see how this is playing out.

Looks like we are at the final episode for the season... I really wish there were more than 6 episodes.   There's A LOT they could have done to expanded this out.   Only a few more days until Episode 6!

This game comes free with the PlayStation 5... I almost avoided it because it seemed like it was a cheesy addition to the PlayStation 5 to take you through the controller.    It's actually a pretty fun free platformer.

I was able to platinum trophy the game.  Here is the topic:
ASTRO'S PLAYROOM PLATINUM TROPHY - PS5

If you have not played it and have the chance... it's a good distraction!

I finally got one... has anyone else been able to score one?  They are getting easier to find... still a bit difficult though.   Crazy thing is... I felt a bit excited to get one.... 1 year after launch.   That shouldn't be a thing.   They should be common to buy a year later.

A Winner Is You / Astro's Playroom Platinum Trophy - PS5
December 19, 2021, 09:26:38 PM
This game wasn't too hard to platinum.  I had to look up some of the hidden trophies... others I found on accident by screwing around for fun.

If you play this game, here are a couple good sites for the trophies:
https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/astros-playroom-trophy-list-how-unlock-hidden-dlc-trophies-7058
https://psnprofiles.com/guide/11237-astros-playroom-trophy-guide
https://www.pushsquare.com/guides/astros-playroom-all-trophies-and-how-to-unlock-the-platinum

If you have a PlayStation 5, this game comes free and is worth a play through.  It's decently fun.  I also created a topic for the game here:

Hawkeye really has taken some interesting turns.  The thought that Clint did some not-so-savory things is pretty clear.  I dig this series... the LARP scene is pretty funny.  SHHHHHnnnnnnngggggg

One of my favorite parts so far are:
Spoiler: ShowHide
When she asks Clint why he has the hearing aid in so many words... and then there's a montage of his battles and explosions.  lol  ;D

The other part I don't understand is ... In Avengers and other movies, Hawkeye melts through enemies like butter.  He had a more rough time in Age of Ultron... resting at the end.  As Ronin, he was doing the same thing.  Maybe he lost some of his care... but he seems to be having more of a rough time fighting in Hawkeye.

I have an older LG Plasma TV (maybe 12 -13 years old) that I am SUPER reluctant to give up.  The colors are awesome... the screen, though 1080p, still looks awesome in my opinion.  It has actually stopped me from buying LED tv's in the past... as well as stopped me from upgrading recently.  Side note, there are a couple tv's I'm looking to maybe move to in the future though.

With that... has anyone ever noticed a quality different in HDMI cables?    I'm sure my LG has a very old HDMI version "compatibility," though I'm not sure this actually makes a difference.  The 1st time I  noticed a difference was with a Rocketfish cable @SpartanEvolved brought over many years back when we were playing Mortal Kombat on the Playstation 3 in 2011(ish).  The screen looked pretty harsh  and there were weird solid shadowing effects to white text.   I haven't really tried other cables except my old monster m1000 hdmi and a couple BlueJeans hdmi cables.  They all worked well and I didn't see this ever again... UNTIL... I recently bought a Monster M-Series 3000 HDMI cable for my Playstation 5.  The cable states it's HDMI 2.1 compatible... but I thought most HDMI (if not all) are backward compatible.  Needless to say, I'm returning the cable.  I need to find something these days that will work with the TV as my old Monster M1000 cable is now breaking.  I might try to invoke the lifetime warranty and just get it fixed.

Has anyone else ran into these issues?  In the past, it was thought Digital cables either work or they don't.  I've now ran into 2 different brands (at least) and different technologies... that have somewhat shown a counter to this thought.    The Rocketfish cable could have been a newer version of HDMI as well.... though I also downplayed it to a Rocketfish issue.

I was really happy with this movie.

You know... I would love to give the creators a remake of Avatar the Last Airbender live action movies.   This movie showed what they really could've done with Avatar (not blue people).

Yo! @Grindspine - let me see if I can get away for a tad bit of gaming.  Not sure at this time.

What are you looking to play?  Man.. I haven't played of games in awhile.  Those aren't up to date... but switch and other stuff should be ready.   I'll let you know.
#562
We just watched it on Disney+.  I thought this was really well done.   I'll reserve more comments for after you watch it, @CreepinDeth  since @targetrasp is waiting to buy his awesome steel book.

I just received the following email for the Steam Deck ... it looks like it's delayed:

QuoteThe launch of Steam Deck will be delayed by two months. We're sorry about this—we did our best to work around the global supply chain issues, but due to material shortages, components aren't reaching our manufacturing facilities in time for us to meet our initial launch dates.

Based on our updated build estimates, Steam Deck will start shipping February 2022. This will be the new start date of the reservation queue—you will keep your place in line but dates will shift back accordingly. Reservation date estimates will be updated shortly after this announcement.

Again, we're sorry we won't be able to make our original ship date. We'll continue working to improve reservation dates based on the new timeline, and will keep you updated as we go.

To view your updated expected order availability and FAQ, please visit the Steam Deck store page.

Cheers,
The Steam Team

I saw that coming.  Looks like those ahead of me in the queue will get theirs late... which means I will get mine later.  My order was already slated for q2 2022.

It's almost out of theaters now... I was hoping to see it in theaters... but looks like we won't make it.  Unless it stays in theaters a bit longer.  The movie looks really cool.  The trailer is pretty awesome as well.

#565
@CreepinDeth you know...  I never really got into this game.  I am probably one of the only ones.... But It just doesn't float my boat.   I know it's a widely popular game.

#566
Did anyone see Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings??  I totally missed this movie.  I don't see anything on Disney+ yet for a release to the platform.  They also did not do a digital launch release while it was in the theaters.

I heard this movie was pretty good... pumped to check it out in the near future... whenever it hits Disney+

General Discussion / Re: Loki - The Television Series
October 18, 2021, 04:53:57 PM
@retro junkie - it really looks like it's shaping up to be that way.   The latest Marvel series are starting to provide an unlimited amount of possibilities to the courses the next Marvel movies can go.   I'm hoping they pull it together well like the Avengers series.  Their directions could easily become too wide and too odd.

The next Spiderman trailer is out.  I also missed a one of the releases - Shang Chi and the Lengend of the 10 rings.

@retro junkie - man... I really thought they did an amazing job with it.  I thought the animation was top notch as well.

The Thor episode... LOL.... where is mom is coming to kick some butt... we couldn't stop laughing at that.

what a crazy ending!  I cannot wait for more.   I'm so glad they made these.

General Discussion / Re: Black Widow
October 18, 2021, 04:47:36 PM
yeah... they really need to make more like this.  Plus there were covid release issues... then once it was released, there were stupid theater ticket versus streaming drama.  I hope this movie continues to make more.  It's telling that it's the highest grossing moving in 2021... even with all the drama.  They were fighting many headwinds as well.

The ending is interesting... and all the multi-verse directions they are going... unlimited possibilities now.
