Yeah, it's a good player and has done well by me. Though, I think it's time to upgrade to keep up with my headphone obsession.

A lot of records these days are unfortunately really mastered horribly, so all of the advantages of vinyl disappear. Which is why I just keep an eye out for certain pressings/masters. My wife inherited a ton of records from her step-dad so we have a good starting point with a lot of classic rock.

I did go buckwild on record store day a couple of weekends ago. I do love going and hunting for records of albums I love. Almost like shopping for retro games.

Sale is over for anyone who sees this now. Hope you got in it.

I deed!  :)

Can't wait to see what the results are.

Loved it but it's hard to rank it or have a full opinion of it.

Because it's actually a two part movie. I don't know why it got changed from Avengers Infinity War Pt.1 but I can't really see it as a stand alone movie. Other than that, was great.

Voltron was my jam. It's too bad the cartoon doesn't hold up and the original toys contain lead in the paint, lol.

I think I'm going to splurge on one of the anniversary sets for my birthday.

The default drives that come with the PS4 are 5400RPM anyways, so an external HD shouldn't be much of a difference. Actually, SSDs barely improve speeds anyways so your experience is going to be consistent regardless.

I have an external for my Xbox 360 and I don't notice a difference. I'll probably get one eventually for my PS4.

Prices are finally coming back down to MSRP. But, new cards are on the horizon.

I took the plunge and bought a GTX 1080. Everything looks great, however, I can clearly see now where my CPU bottlenecks in some spots here and there. Nothing too crazy though. This is the first time I've encountered this. Pretty good for a 7 year old i5.

I enjoy just listening to the medium. It tends to have a distinct sound plus the artwork and packaging is cooler than CDs. However, I try to limit to what I buy these days. It's either first pressings (if I can afford them) or special, proper remasters done by certain audio engineers.

I love listening to music and spent a lot of money on a good setup for my music collection but I'm also ashamed that I haven't given any love to vinyl. I still have a basic audio technica player that does the job but there are much better players. Maybe by the end of this year.

I'm patiently waiting for it to drop in price and include all of the DLC. It looks stunning though and I might even decide to buy a 4K HDR TV before I play this.

I mostly just use Steam since you can take uncompressed screenshots. It's really the easiest since everything is on your PC already. For Nintendo handheld devices, there has to be something proprietary in order to take clean shots.

Oof, I shudder to think what my backlog list would look like.

But sounds like a good idea for most. Especially if they mostly play current gen games.

Those are very nice. I don't drink much whiskey but I could see myself sipping on some tequila with those.

I still have my SFIV Arcade Sticks that I bust out when playing some Pac-Man or other arcade games. Especially SHMUPs.

my hopes is when they do crash (and surely they will) that the hardware manufacturers don't decide to keep their prices up.

It's not the manufacturers that are setting the prices, it's the retailers. Manufacturers will mainly do that when there's a shortage of materials and they can only make a limited amount. In this case, it's demand that's driving the prices up.

I'm pretty sure there's a couple work around for this, I know if you have a game "purchased" in your library, you can still install it from a disc separately than the digital version. I think there's a way to make the digital games purchasable again, but I can't remember how it's done.

You shouldn't have to do workarounds though. Also, not all game saves are compatible between digital and disc. So if you buy the disc version and want to continue where you left off, you could be starting completely over if it's a game that isn't compatible. That's another thing that irks me about the PS4. For Xbox One, it's all automatic for every game. On PS4, the developer has to manually set that.

Holy crap Petrucci turned into a cave man, lol. That was super cool. I looked at the pick and it seems to be a mario figure that he's using?

This guy isn't as famous but this video is a classic.

That's one of my favorite episodes and I still have the 32X/SegaCD combo you sold me, BV!  :)

I don't think the 32X would've stood a chance even if Sega focused on it. PlayStation was just around the corner and was going to crush it anyways in terms of 3D power. Had it come out a year or two earlier, maybe.

HDMI cables that are built well and are up to spec will all display the signal identically. It's digital, just 1s and 0s. But yeah, some cables are poorly made and will just cause issues. That's why I stick to Monoprice cables. Well built and inexpensive.

Spartanevolved brought over this RocketFish (Best Buy) HDMI cable... and we were under the impression is should look as good as a Monster cable. My PS3 was hooked up to the TV and we played Mortal Kombat X I think it was - the latest Mortal Kombat to come out on the PS3 at the time.  Colors were not as good and the outlines of characters were not as crisp.

The only think I could think of was... the PS3 was scaling back what it was sending across the cable.  Perhaps a transmission rate thing?  I don't know...

Did the picture look fine on Spartan's PS3?

I'm still keeping an eye out for a broadcast CRT like a Sony PVM. Best colors since they were made for actual broadcasts for TV. Retro games look superb from all of the screenshots I've seen.

SNES has a lot of great memories for me. Super Mario World and Turtles in Time were a couple of my favorites. You can't forget about all of those RPGs either.

Sounds good BV. Don't rush it if you don't have the time. We'll be okay.  :)

I use a 24" Vizio for my pc, my PS4, and Xbone and it only has one HDMI port. Unfortunately every HDMI switcher I've tried has been awful, so I end up just switching the actual cable.

But now I mostly only use the PS4 and I have a laptop now so I haven't looked into better switchers.

Sony consoles tend to have issues with switchers. For some reason, it has handshaking issues with TVs. PS3s were notorious for this and I still believe it broke the HDMI input on my old TV that I no longer have. Had to switch to Component since I didn't have another HDMI input.

My first guess would be the PS4 is the culprit but could also be the switcher or the cable. My roku did not like the ultra thin HDMI cables I got from Monoprice but worked fine with a normal sized one.

I loved the Sega Genesis and I feel I enjoyed it over the SNES. And even though the Sega CD and 32X were cool, it messed up Sega for the future. Still though, Sonic the hedgehog, Streets of Rage, Mortal Kombat (with blood), X-Men 1 & 2. Great franchises.

HDMI connectors might not seem like much but to add those could affect the form factor. People want thin bezels and small footprints. This means sacrifices need to be made and usually inputs/outputs are the first to go.

The problem now is there are 3 hdmi ports and a component. i have 4 4k devices and 3 1080p devices AND my hdmi switcher is only 1080p. a 4k switcher is not in the cards yet sooooo i'm either stuck with going back to the receiver or not using a 4k device...

Also, holy crap. All I have on my bedroom TV is a Roku and a PS4. I have cable but I just use the Comcast app on my Roku, saving me from having an additional receiver charge and taking up space.

If I had the money, I would have Lian-Li cases, but since I don't I really like Corsair cases. Not too flashy and are made to be real simple to build inside.
#596
lol, I haven't used a Best Buy restroom yet. I'm usually in and out of there fairly quickly. I don't plan on using one now.

Interesting... so no emulation.

Actually, it's still emulation, just not software emulation like the SNES mini and other clones. It's hardware emulation. The FPGA chip is tuned to behave like the original SNES CPU, however, it's still not perfect and can display some errors. The video I posted goes in much longer length on how this achieved.
#598
Anybody getting one or even heard of this? This does not use software emulation like most clones and it isn't NOS of original hardware in a new chassis. It uses a special chip that can be tuned to run like the chips that were used back in the original system. So you can use your carts with it and play them on an HDTV with accuracy.

The rights to the IP itself. I'd imagine Nickelodeon agreed to a contract where Activision only had a few years to make a game and sell it.

There's also this.  >_>
