Games for my birthday!!! I'm a 64 year old man!!! What 64 year man gets games for his birthday?!

:o ::)

Ummm...............................

Thanks for the birthday wishes. It has been a very good day indeed. Been spending some time on the Wii U today.

A Jaguar system could have,
Rayman
Defender 2000
Tempest 2000
Raiden
Zool 2
Iron Soldier
Iron Soldier 2

Then throw in,
Cybermorph
Super Burnout
Alien vs Predator (Maybe)
Ruiner Pinball
Zero-5

I am not sure beyond that as far as its list goes. I would pick one up after it dropped to $29.99 just for Defender, Raiden, and Tempest. Those are the only games that kept my interest in mine, and the only reason I keep it. Super Burnout on the system is ummm... one of those games that showed what the system could be capable of, missed opportunity, tech demo kind of feel. It is enjoyable for what it does but is not my go to game for motor cycle racing. Missing a lot of elements that make that "wow" feel.

I wouldn't mind seeing it but Michael Bay movies are looked down on in my home. My Daughter is a big fan of the original Transformer cartoons. And my Wife just doesn't care much for those type of movies. Whenever it is released on video I could watch it on my phone under the covers.  :o

It was right on the edge of being 70 today.  8)

Whaaaaat! It really doesn't seem like a year. But then again, at my age, time seems to go fast.
#577
I would actually like to see a Turbo Grafx 16 mini with 30 games. Menu needs to be set up like the Nintendo minis. Now that I would need to have in my collection. I never tire of their shooters or Bonk.
#578
14 right now. Yesterday it was about that all day. Supposed to warm up today into the 30's.  :))
#579
Tomorrow it is not supposed to get above 18.  :(

It was 55 on Monday.
#580
Its early morning and I have 19 outside.

Funny how you get distracted when someone you work around gets interested in a console you own. Here I just got a Wii U and I am purchasing Gamecube games. These are my recent pickups. The opened games have no cover art. I am beginning to suspect that the Batman Begins cover art is not original. Reproduction maybe?  ;)

Driven
Batman Begins (had no idea this game existed)
Baten Kaitos
Capcom vs SNK 2 EO (had no idea this game existed- where was I?)
A series of Unfortunate Events
Evolution Worlds
Cars
Odama ( i need a gamecube mic for this one)
Waverace Blue Storm (I sort of like the N64 one better)

edit: My biggest problem is, any of the games on that console mini that I might be interested in,  I have. I can just pull them out and play them on my PS3. And they play without any kind of issue. The only point in owning such a disaster would be just to collect an oddity.

I find the game still awesome to play. It is so well put together. In my book it has aged well. An Amazing beat'em up.

But you can't play the Japan version on the US Cube unless it is modded.

Never heard of this game. I looked it up on youtube and it looks creepy weird.  :)
And the price they have this game on eBay is totally unreal.

A co-worker just purchased his first gamecube, came with a lot of games. Experiencing someone else's excitement and enthusiasm  has motivated me to pull out my cube and games. I have even purchased a couple games and am looking for more. I just realized that I only have around forty games for the system. That is not acceptable. I usually have a few games out for play on the Wii but with that console dead, got to get out the real thing. Love the "wavebird."

Viewtiful Joe is getting a revival.
#587
Thanks, nice to know that. I haven't used the Wii U cable yet. I have been pulling my PS3 HDMI cable for the Wii U when I am playing it and then putting it back when I have the PS3 on.
#588
Reason I got the hard drive was the "updates." I was at first afraid of hitting a wall. But I also thought after looking through the store that there are games I might download and purchase. Some N64 games, nes, snes, and a few others just to play on the HDMI through the Wii U. I had to get a Y cord due to the Wii U not capable of handling an external drive through one usb. If I plan on purchasing the whole 160 Wii U game library then it might come in handy. I have noticed that the console is putting everything on the external drive now that I have it attached.

Many of he Wii games look amazing on the Wii U HDMI output. Worth every penny.
#589
Installed an external harddrive today, 300gb. And I've been playing Sin & Punishment for the Wii.

I'm thinking that it is like Nintendo's gamecube and Wii. The format is proprietary and known only to Nintendo, like you quoted, "wii u optical disc." They are big on "No Piracy" and go out of their way to prevent it in their game discs. The Wii U hardware is not that much different from their other two disc based game consoles from what I gather, except for the HDMI. So I would guess that the format is similar to the Wii or a variation.

I have not had this problem with any of my disc based gaming systems, NG-CD, Saturn, PS1, PS2, PS3, XB360, TG16, Dreamcast, Wii, or Gamecube. And I have some games that I have purchased from some of our locals that are pretty beat up. And I have had no reservations  about purchasing for any of those consoles.

If I collect all of the games for the Wii U I am going to be very picky looking for a label without flaws.
#591
It seems like that layer is unusually very thin and offers no protection to the data. What were they thinking? Kids are playing with these things.
#592
I have purchased close to twenty games or more. I have yet to try all of then due to wanting to focus on playing some. Also I was wanting to set up a external hard drive too for all the "updates" to games. I am going to go through everything today with a flashlight and trying to load just to see how many I have that are damaged. Just looked at the Batman game, top label is scratched up, won't load.  :'( >:(

edit: found only two, Batman and Mario 3D.
#593
I guess I never thought about it until now. Never experienced it before.
#594
I just found out, from personal experience, about a troubling issue with the Wii U games. And that is "disc rot."  The top decal can be scratched exposing the metallic reflective material of the disc which can oxidize and deteriorate. Wii U games seem to be very fragile. They can just deteriorate too on their own. I purchased a game over ebay, Super Mario 3D world. I cannot get it to work. After researching this, I got out my flashlight and sure enough light found the areas that contain the damage.
This is disturbing. Evidently the Wii and Gamecube games are safe due to the difference in their manufacturing.
This is the first time that I consider digital download as an option. Too bad the Wii U has such a small hard drive.
#595
I had a certification in 486, Pentium 1, 2, 3 at one time. But that has been a long time ago. At this point in my life I am really not as motivated toward digging into that anymore. I have also forgot a lot of that stuff. You tend to do if you don't stay with it. I have a java book around here somewhere. Right now my main interest is to learn how to use Krita, a graphics program. I want to get back into art as I contemplate retirement in two years.
#596
Whoa, never knew anyone that like the angry birds stuff. I just can't get into it. But it has been the original game that was on the phone that I played. Are the console games different, lego-ish?

I got Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed today. Awesome racing game.
#597
I was very surprised to find "Injustice: Gods Among Us" on the Wii U. That is a great game. It is the first of the genre that I have played where the storyline mingled with the fighting which I found so satisfying. Great experience. Glad to see it here in the list.
Another surprise was a Tekken game. That is totally unexpected. Looking forward to playing that game.
I knew about the Batman game but was not aware of the Spiderman games.

And the Barbie, Angry Birds, and Hello Kitty I sort-of classify as ummm... well.... you know.

There are some titles in there that I feel some third parties tried to bring their Wii over to the Wii U. But there are some really solid titles in there. And I am glad.

After playing this so much during the Christmas Holidays I feel that there are many games on the DS that could have been ported, enhanced, and extra levels added. I believe it could have worked. Missed opportunity.

And only  13.56 million units of the Wii U sold world wide.  :(

#598
LOL, yeah there are several on that list that causes me to back up and say ....what? Such a small library and it has this?

Okay after seeing this posting I have become a fan of High Score Girl. First episode and I was hooked, love it. Had no idea that this series existed.  8)
