Shut up and take my money.   I just saw R-Type 2 Final is going to be released. Anyone else see this?   Yeah. I want it.  I think ill pick this up. The packaging and extras look good too.

R-Type Final 2 Inaugural Flight Edition - PlayStation 4 - Amazon.com

There are also version Switch and Xbox versions.  I think I'm picking up the switch edition.  You get to that by going to the link and changing editions.

What are your thoughts?  I'm pumped.

Turrican
Turrican II: The Final Fight
Mega Turrican
Super Turrican

I played Super Turrican back in the day.. And I'm thinking of picking this up.

General Discussion / Re: Video Games Worth?
February 17, 2021, 04:47:12 PM
I definitely take value into consideration... I do buy some games in hopes for value appreciation... BUT I play everything I have.   I try to keep everything in immaculate condition... but it doesn't always happen especially when you play and not just collect.

In some ways, I'm becoming less of a collector.  I would be more of a collector, but I sized down in life in generally... so I don't really store as much stuff anymore.  At some point, I may sell off some of my collection.  I don't know if I want to, but at the same time... will prices forever be higher?   OR will the demand always stay as high?  It probably will stay as high unless people just give up collecting all together.

Calling out a few members... What about you @MegaDrive20XX @Grindspine @Strubes @CreepinDeth @trkorecky @AngelBob @Kinikko @JR_McG and @Snatcher_L @Polygon @Jack ?   We haven't heard from you in awhile... what's your take?
#727
@CreepinDeth just take my money.....  :'(

LOL... I'm really trying not to spend money on services... but I Cannot not (er must) watch the Marvel series.    Do they have any of the older Marvel shows?

General Discussion / Re: The New Face of Retro Gaming?
February 16, 2021, 10:17:49 PM
I started seeing a lot of this back in the mid 2000s...
Especially before the financial crash.  Buyers tastes changed... they started wanting just "games to play" and didn't care about the conditions, completeness, collector status. Etc. Around this same time, steam was starting to take off in the way of gaming sales...Etc.  For the 1st time   I started to hear people say they welcomed virtual console games (on the Wii, steam. Etc).  They didn't want the clutter anymore.

I guess I understand that a bit more now. Games don't have manuals or much inside the case anymore.  It sort of defeats the purpose of buying physical copies in some ways.  With digital, You don't have to have the disc or cart in to play the game... you can just switch between the games.  It's convenient though you don't technically own it and cannot sell it if you need to recoup some of your money.

So I guess the writing has been on the wall for a long time.  I watched tons of shops go out of business since 2007.  Most of our local game stores closed by 2012.  No other shops took their place. I think there will always be collectors. But the question is, will there be anything to collect later on?    I do think ... as much as I hate to say it... retro will be dropped more and more.  I don't see anyone playing the Magnavox Oddysee , Atari 2600 and many other systems anymore.  Many Gamers seem to just want to play and not have the clutter... which seems to be the majority these days.

General Discussion / Re: LOTS of Snow...
February 16, 2021, 09:51:36 PM
Yeah.. I ended up shoveling a ton of snow. I'm pretty sure we had 10-12 inches.  The plow truck pushed a lot of it into our driveway as well.  :o. 4' in a few areas.

Take care if you need to go in tomorrow.   We are supposed to get a bit more snow Thursday I think

Is anyone else getting hit hard with snow?   I Think we have received 6-7 inches now... at least.  Maybe 8

@CreepinDeth dangit... we are going to pay for Disney+ for a bit... you guys and your recommendations... just take my money.

@targetrasp yeah... the initial reviews had me a bit worried.  Now I cannot wait to dive in.
#732
@targetrasp I took a look last night...  I ended up spending too much on new Bioshock collection Switch, Doom (now Hard to find Switch game) used, and Spongebob BAttle for Bikini Bottom remasturd PS4.

Almost all the $1.00 games were stuff I already had (I hate to admit it on some of the games lol).  They did have some interesting DS and 3DS games in stock... some hard to find stuff.   Here's to hoping Doom comes in immaculate condition...
#733
@targetrasp good stuff... Game wise, is there cheap games in good condition that are worth picking up?  Or Are you just picking stuff up?

I'm going fo check this out.  Thank you for sharing.

@BLUEVOODU Radiata Historia is awesome - I'm 20 hours deep right now.

Well...  I may have to add this game to my collection.  Also, Paper Mario Origami King is rather awesome.   Color Splash was great.. though it didn't have the highest reviews.  Origami... that's a great pick up.

I gave up trying to get  PlayStation 5 in early December.  For now, I am waiting.  However, it was interesting on how they created the grip texture of the controller.  Check this out:

I wonder how many people did / didn't notice this.

Comments / thoughts...  post it up.

4 more games are coming to the NES and Super NES - Doomsday Warrior, Psycho Dream, Prehistorik Man, and Fire N Ice... a puzzle style game.

Psycho Dream... does anyone remember that?   What are your thoughts on these additions?   @retro junkie you've probably knocked these out already  ;D

Has anyone requested and received early access to Amazon Luna?
amazon Luna - amazon.com

Here is a list of compatible devices:
Amazon Luna Compatible Devices and Browsers - amazon.com

I guess it's another cloud service... but I'm curious if it's work it.  So far $6 per month.

If you haven't tried it... are you interested or think you will try it?
#740
@Grindspine LOL... yes... yes... I know.  I have a thing about not buying other monthly services right now (IE not paying for TV and lots of other things).

@targetrasp you're right... and that's exactly what we want to start watching.  And now it's hard to say no with Wandavision.  I would like to get in before the price hike... and may not renew.  But we will see.
#741
Due to Covid.. Black Widow was moved to 2021... at least at this time.  So now we have Wandavision... and it looks very interesting.  I am thinking of paying for a year of Disney+ to check this out.

Who is watching?   What are your thoughts?

WandaVision returns with a wallop to the Marvel Cinematic Universe proper - tv.avclub.com

It definitely looks pretty cool.   Thoughts? Comments?  Post it up

@targetrasp @retro junkie now you make me want to buy Radiant Historia...

We made a bit of progress in Minecraft on our level.   We are now connecting 2 bases with rails and cart.  That's a major undertaking.  I crafted a pretty cool Ax that gets us tons of stones like gemstones, coal...etc... but no ore like Iron and Gold.   I wonder if @AngelBob is still playing
#743
you know what... and I'm going to double post.

@targetrasp -  Where's the tylenol...
#744
@retro junkie ooo Axiom  ;D and Sine Mora... niiicee.  That's good stuff right there.  Not to say the others are not.  I had a fun time trying to get Axiom for the Vita....

Dangit @Grindspine I'm trying to not buy games again right now.  This looks really cool ... I see what you are saying about the graphically stunning textures.  Some of them have a Super Nintendo graphic "feel" to them as well.

@targetrasp you got pulled in eh?   I'm trying to hold off. I think I will add this to my collection though.

Good post, Grindspine.

Exactly... I totally get that.  Ikaruga is a game like that where if you are not in the groove... it's brutal.   When you're in the groove... it's an awesome game to play.

NICE!  I haven't played some of those in awhile.  GUN NAC... man... it has been some time.  How is that one treating you?

And somehow... I found this response not sent.  It was supposed to have been sent awhile back.

General Discussion / Happy New Year!
January 01, 2021, 12:17:57 PM
Happy New Year from Chickendinnergaming!

Here's to a great 2021!  2020 was an odd year and seemed to go extraordinarily fast.  However, here's to hoping 2021 plays out a little different (on the positive side) than 2020  ;D

#749
@retro junkie ah yes. I read it / remembered it wrong.  You don't have an output for it yet.   Yes - you need to get on that  ;D

I used to take even odd bits of hardware (ie an old box That was used as an internet filter)... old school pieces that had basic hardware.  I would find a few pieces... put it back together, and would use It for something  just to see if I could get it to work.  I just haven't done that for a long time.
#750
I used to really enjoy doing that.  Now I just don't have a lot of time to tinker with that anymore.  I do a lot of spinning up and down instances in the cloud... but not so much physical machines.

I was more thinking of CentOS for drivers and what-not that you were having issues with drivers.   Ie Give it a shot and see if you are able to get by the HMDI issues.
