Good job @targetrasp   I bet this would make @MegaDrive20XX proud lol.  I remember  this being a tough game... at least that's how I remember it.

General Discussion / Re: GameStop Going Down?
September 23, 2020, 07:41:52 PM
I'm sure this climate has been especially tough for GameStop.  It's been tough on a lot of businesses.  I'm not sure we have any other gaming stores anymore either...  I would have to look.  We used to have a few... and the city is definitely big enough for more than 1.  There are a several Gamestops here in a few locations.. pretty strategically placed.   Maybe a Gamestore would be a good idea again... LOL... and maybe not.  ;D

At least it appears so lol... check out this Verge article

It looks like a bunch of soon-to-be-disappointed people accidentally bought Xbox One X's - theverge.com

Lol... that sucks... unless people are just jumping on Xbox One X systems... but....

@targetrasp @XFaKToRX @Mai Valentine have you made any (or anymore) progress on this title yet?   ;D

I saw Pikmin 3 Deluxe is releasing October 30, 2020 for the Nintendo Switch.  I have been a big fan of Pikmin in the past... and own several versions of the game.    Is anyone else looking forward to the"release?"  I know this is a re-release from the Wii U version... but there are new side missions and you are able to run through the story mode and DLC with a a friend!

Your pre-orders through the above link (and other purchases on Amazon) do help the site..etc.  Thank you for your help in advance.

General Discussion / Cool Legend of Zelda History Book
September 23, 2020, 12:44:17 PM
Did you all see these?  Maybe some of you own them.  I'm talking about The Legend of Zelda Encyclopedia.    The collectors edition is pretty cool...

The Legend of Zelda Encyclopedia Deluxe Edition - Amazon.com

It is pricey ($50)... but resembles a NES cart.   I thought it was rather cool.  The standard edition is pretty cool as well and more affordable (around $21):

Exactly - and the other part that sucks is that others cannot get into it as easily... especially at the scalped prices.  Oh supply and demand... how wonderful are thy ways.

I'm trying to wait 2 years before I build another pc.. and just being satisified with the Dell G5 gaming laptop.  It's pretty nice though... I must say.   I've had it since 2018 and it still works well... though I haven't really been gaming on it... but mostly studying now - AWS, Ansible, Linux and crafting all sorts of good stuff there.

lol.. watch... @retro junkie is the only one of us able to score the hardware at launch  ;D   I cannot get a PlayStation 5 Pre-order in at all right now.
#789
Yeah... it does suck this is happening... especially on a wide level.  But I get torn from time-to-time on these practices.

General Discussion / Re: Call Of Duty - Cold War
September 22, 2020, 10:27:01 PM
LOL ... Corona war... yeah... the updates for Modern Warfare were fairly high.  Thankfully (on most occassions), the PlayStation 4 had them ready to go... WITH the exception of 2 updates at once earlier this year that required me to re-install multiplayer.  It was odd.....

I can only imagine how large these games are going to get in the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X realm.

I reallllllllly wish they delayed Cold War... Modern Warfare has a lot of life left in it.

hm... I wonder if it was something were the debit transactions do not flag like credit transactions would...  Just a thought. That is a good point.  And yes.. that's a decent sum to have sitting around lol  ;D
#792
Well... we just finished Eureka - it was ok.. definitely humorous in many spots.  We might need to view it again.

Trying to figure out what's next... maybe it will be Star Trek
#793
@Grindspine  - yeah... Crysis 2 was built for more advanced computers and a wider array of hardware... it was optimized better and ran better on many different hardware setups.     Crysis 1 though.. that was at the beginning of games starting to utilize more than 1 CPU core... and at the beginning stages of DX10... moving forward with graphics drivers and more advanced graphics cards.  Cross-fire and SLI were newer and starting to be utilized more... and there were challenges to that.   It was just a different time.
#794
@trkorecky - Maybe I need to change that as posting in any topic is always welcome.  ;D

you know... I never thought about that @trkorecky  -->  Direct Access 12 support in Linux.  Are they working on it?

I have been working heavily in Centos 7 and a couple other variants at work... working with Ansible and figuring out how to deploy settings ...etc... to hundreds of on floor machines over the world.   I am working to accomplish the Red hat Certified System Administrator... and a few other certs before the end of the year.    We are starting to move process from Microsoft based systems and more into Linux based systems.  Part of it is to start moving away from Microsoft licensing.  Red Hat licensing for various services are pretty expensive now as well.  That's partly why we are looking into Centos... but ... that brings complexities as well in the support realm if we ever needed it.

General Discussion / Re: Call Of Duty - Cold War

@mastermario That is correct... but it appears it is changing a bit - I need to review those changes more:

Also, it appears no Steel Book or Physical Game Special Editions.  It seems they are really pushing the digital editions:
Call of Duty Cold War - No Steel Book Version

@CreepinDeth you are right... people need to start coming together.  We are all going to have to live with this for awhile it appears.

@Mai Valentine that really should be something that is basic.    Protect each other... that's it.   If someone doesn't like wearing masks and protecting themselves... AT LEAST do it to protect those that are at higher risk.
#797
I figured there would be special editions and pre-orders launched after the big reveal.   So far, there is no special editions or Steel book editions being launched.  Normally I would pick up the Steel book edition and have done so for the most part when available... and when I didn't slack on the pre-order process.  I will say, there are a few that I do not have the Steel Book version.

The Edition Pre-orders are detailed here:
ANNOUNCEMENT – CALL OF DUTY®: BLACK OPS COLD WAR EDITIONS DETAILED, AVAILABLE FOR PRE-ORDER NOW - callofduty.com

It appears there will be no editions with additional COD swag... AND... it appears they are trying to get more people to order digital as they are providing some extras for buying those.

Exactly... it does sound like that.  Which ... good for him if he was able to do that.  Hopefully all the Covid stuff going on didn't impact the treatments he was able to get.  I'm glad he was able to accomplish what he has accomplished.

General Discussion / Re: Black Panther Movie
September 21, 2020, 02:18:41 PM
That's a pretty good idea... that would make sense... and would technically follow the old comics.   While I am not expert in this subject... AND I'm sure this subject is up for a ton of debate, this seems like a pretty good idea.

I planned to break it out this last weekend... but was focused on Call of Duty lol.  Mostly because the new one is coming out and Modern Warfare will not be played as much.  Still...  I figured people were going to be negative on it.  In some ways, Games to Nintendo has been like Star Wars was to George Lucas.   It's hard to please everyone.   Maybe they should've remastered?  I don't know... I'm just happy they are doing stuff like this.   It would be cool to have it remastered at some point.

I'll tell you this though... I keep hoping Mario Galaxy 2 is an Easter Egg somewhere on the cart.
#801
How are they overbidding?  Wouldn't they be responsible for the amount they overbid?

#802
Yeah.... this is definitely crazy... but it was only a matter of time once the Nintendo Switch came out.   Nintendo was operating on "pillars' for so long... and now they have a pretty stellar product coming all into 1.  Still.. it is the end of an era.  On 1 hand I'm not surprised... but on the other hand... Nintendo has been a console and a handheld for a long time.

I mentioned on a previous thread somewhere that all gaming may end up like the switch... and the concept of pda's being a bit too early (though they were adopted into smart phones) and smaller devices being an all-in-one portable device "taking over" in future consoles.  We will see if that happens.. but I really envision the future being more devices like the Switch and taking them with you and being able to play multiplayer in proximity AND giving you the gaming power to play newer  games that require more power.

@retro junkie - I am with you though... it does give a bit of pause.

There has been a lot of speculation on the size of the PlayStation 5 based on the size of the USB ports...etc.  Here's a pretty good article showing the massive size of age PlayStation 5... and looks like the best configuration is standing up.

Nice - Good Video @CreepinDeth

yeah... I am glad that I bought from Amazon.  Mine Shipped and it should arrive today as well.    I'm really hoping they are like ... "SURPRISE... Galaxy 2 is already on disk.  Merry Christmas."   ;D

It looks like the RTX3080 is hard to acquire right now. I'm glad I won't be in the market for new hardware for a year or two.  But it reminds me of a few other points in history of trying to acquire certain computer hardware pieces.

Nvidia's RTX 3080 is already sold out pretty much everywhere online in the US - theverge.com

Did you already get yours?   ;D

I used to run a rig with a 4870x2 (I Think it was)... I also had built an i7 rig - which had just came out.  It had the triple channel ram...etc.   It ran Crysis well...  I was running at full spec for the time.    Crysis still looks pretty good by today's standards.  I know some things have aged... but it's a late 2000's game.

Back when Crysis 2 came out and the achievement we got on the PlayStation 3... it was hilarious because it rang true.  It's great to see that "Can It Run Crysis" is still around  ;D
#807
Lol... From Linus Tech Tips.  Can it run Crysis Remastered???  This one is for you @CreepinDeth @trkorecky

Funny thing is... @Grindspine and I were playing Crysis 2 on PlayStation 3... and immediately received the achievement. For starting up the game and finishing the 1st sequence.  The trophy was titled - "Can it Run Crysis?". It wa ls pretty funny.

Yeah... it is odd!  Our Best Buy has Switch Lites it appears.  While those are cool, there are some games that are limited on it.. Still, I'm tempted to get one as a secondary switch.
#809
Yeah... it's amazing how that's happening in many places.

Now.. If these were the size of penny racers... that would work out well?   Could easily fit over and under and make really cool jump obstacles.  That woukd be awesome imo
#810
Yeah!  You Cannot get it on Amazon anymore either.  It's selling out hard.   I'm glad you got it.

Man... I'm hoping Nintendo is like... "surprise, Galaxy 2 j's really on the cart!"  Lol  ;D
