I played for a bit more. The planetary exploration and questing will most likely get repetitive. I get that feeling like I got when I was playing the first Mass Effect, at least the part where you had to drive around the planets. There's no comparison in gameplay, just the level of tolerance feels about the same.

There's some difficulty spikes that most likely are there to sell toys. I'd hit spots that I ended up having to spam the lock on type of projectiles as I frantically flew around in circles dodging bullets. I got the feeling there were more elegant combinations of weapons that I just didn't have that would simplify certain dogfights greatly.

All in all i'm disappointed I paid so much for this game. I just couldn't miss out on Starfox. I doubt I'll buy the remainder of the toys until they hit a clearance rack unless there's a unreasonable jump in demand.

The toys are fairly detailed and at least the ship I have has some moving parts.

steering back on topic...

I did get this game, originally as a Christmas present, but the kid showed 0 interest in it when he saw it in the store so I opened it for myself.

I've got roughly 15 minutes in it but it's pretty fun. The battles are fun, the exploring is ok, And there's a semi decent story floating around somewhere. My only fear is that the fetch quests will become irritating. In my 15 minutes of play time they've been fine, but i'm one that tends to sour on mundane quests quickly. The addition of coop is welcomed but i've yet to test it out.

If you're going just for game this is not worth $75. The toys look really cool but the ships run 25, weapons 10 and the pilots are 8 bucks. Everything displays well but dang you'd have 300 invested to get the entire load out

Retro Gaming and Hardware / Re: Star Fox 2

It doesn't seem to make sense for Nintendo to release it, not at least until they've saturated the market with snes classics OR have decided to stop putting them out. Starfox 2 was given key placement on the box for the classic, right on top of every other (and in my opinion better) game featured on the front of the box. Once the console fizzles then I'm sure it'll be out in some downloadable format. Switch Online just started putting a few NES games out, i'll bet once the 64 classic comes out the SNES stuff starts hitting on switch online, then i'll betcha Starfox 2 shows up.

Star Fox really didn't age well for me. I just had de ja vu, if I've said this elsewhere please forgive me.

I was excited about playing a new star fox on the snes classic but found myself bored with it quickly.

The more i look at Starlink the more I think Ubeesoft made Star Fox's successor. Zero killed the franchise for me, but it looks like Starlink has resurected the series into something a little more relevant for me.

Gradius 3 and 4 can be found on the same disc in ps2 format, does it still play like its counterpart on snes? Also why is 5 so expensive?

I've never played 4 or 5, I can't imagine either being better than 3.

Parker found it and installed it on his PlayStation before I could even mess around with it. He said he liked it but every time I saw him play something it was fortnite.

10 sucks. keep it as a collectors item and find it used somewhere when its cheap, and trust me it'll get cheap because it sucks.

Sorry BV I walked away from the computer. I completely forgot that Diablo would have to update.

I can chat however, although I've only ever downloaded discord, never actually used it.

I'll get diablo downloading and see where you are once that's done

my son played this before he could read or spell well... It was fun watching him get stuck, go to youtube, watch something, get further... I don't know that it taught him how to read but it did teach him how to research something he didn't know.

"Connect with friends online and share your screen for co-op or competitive play. Select a 1- or 2-player mode and go. In single-player games, you can take turns at the controls."

Seems like a simple way to make 2p work, just run it on one system as the game was originally programmed.

Metroid is coming out next month - nothing else looks good to me the rest of the year. I'm still in the hide and watch mode on purchasing.

Warcraft, starcraft, diablo - have any of the ports to console ever been at least as good or had anything to offer someone who has the computer version? I would get a copy for the switch if there was something I felt like it would offer above the pc version.

Portability doesn't matter to me. I have a laptop and the only time I travel I'm behind the wheel.

before 730 pm and after 830pm

basically there's an hour where I have to do something.

If I don't hear anything I may go in to work for a while and get a jump on next week, but I plan on being around.

I had so much fun with Gradius and Rtype on the snes, i'd almost forgotton until I saw your screenshot of the little shop of horrors plant boss guy. The nostalgia came flooding back

Buying one just for halo would be a colossal waste without a pretty active group playing with you. There's also not enough exclusive to justify owning ps4 and xbox one unless that's just your thing. Mine hasn't spun a game up in months. It's been downgraded to a 4k bluray player.

the game didn't even make it out of the car...

I was ready for some gaming. I got every distraction I could think of for the kids (pizza, movies, junk food) and danged if the boy doesn't eat two bites and says his throat was sore. I play nurse to the whiney for the first half of the weekend and built a diorama project that we'd planned on spending the weekend on during the last 24 hours. Diablo wasn't even cranked up, Black Ops 4 wasn't even unwrapped....
#830
or the kid gets strep and I play nurse all weekend...

Picking up a pizza at 715 EST - will be installing and playing after diner is done / game installed.

@CreepinDeth

That's the worst part. Devs consider the opportunity cost and could completely abandon a game if the resources to fix said game could be more profitable elsewhere. I find myself getting into games, tv series, anime, etc. that are successful and really good but not as widely accepted so they get completely abandoned. I understand the need to maximize revenues but there's some unquantifiable costs to this business model that I wish would be considered.

dang, its 12:05 on Friday...

I'm completely down for Saturday.

I pick up call of duty later today as well, and haven't taken the wrapper off of mario party either so i'm primed for a marathon session. I also just jumped from 200 meg to 400 meg internet service so it's time to see if it's worth the $20 less i'm paying on my cable bill (yeah figure that one out, I doubled my service and it was cheaper, almost like i pay insurance on a car i don't have to DROP my bill 50 / cycle)

The push and patch method seemed to be most scrutinized at its peak around the time skyrim hit. The game was buggy and had tons of issues but it was a huge success. Now it seems the gaming community has accepted this is standard. As broke as Friday the 13th was my son still played the crap out of it. Often he'd get in a group of people that just roamed around looking for glitches. I refused to play the game because it was so bad. It seems like its just something else gamers can put on youtube.

Saturday is a good day, i'll start a new character as well

Sometimes I wonder if by demonizing things like guns and bombs just make them that much more attractive to the demonic...

@CreepinDeth

so when I finally get around to playing the game it'll be like nothing was ever wrong!?

Retro Gaming and Hardware / Re: C64 Mini
October 08, 2018, 10:26:35 PM
The C64 hit when I was 1 so I only saw what people had stashed in their basements and closets. I had one friend that had tape and floppy drives, dot matrix printers, and a crap load of games and applications. We spent a weekend or two messing around with some of it but it wasn't until the TI-70 something calculator and MS DOS (something prior to 6.0) that I really got to learn BASIC.

I'm sure this thing will be more of a display piece but it'll scratch a nostalgic itch.
