I feel like I should be more excited for this...

they didn't show much but ff7 was the only thing i saw that i might like to replay, except i've already got it on steam...

I watched a few youtube videos that showcased some of it. If they throw out a few more retro games it'd be well worth the price of admission.

It was named after the Sharknado guy...

@BLUEVOODU Just think about all the neo cd stuff too...

I bought some sealed 3do stuff a long time ago when someone was cleaning it out, i'd packed it away with something else and completely forgot about it. had I sold it off when I thought I was getting out of collecting I may have made 50 bucks. Now, many of the pieces are worth that much each.

Legos are awesome. I try to get my son a big set at least once a year so we can spend time building something amazing. We're building a millennium falcon at the moment.

some youtube reviewer called it 2d Diablo... I thought it looked like that DnD sidescroller beat-em-up.

I'll not touch it for a long time, Zelda has taken every free minute

Sega's IPs just don't seem to have held up as well. Compare Sonic and Mario. Both the cornerstone of their respective companies. Mario has branched out successfully, Sonic not so much. Sonic is a one trick hedgehog.

A lot of their games appeal to a limited group of gamers. Total War and the Valkyria games are a perfect example. The biggest portion of their IPs are outdated and constantly released in compilations.

Their arcade presence was killer, at least until the arcades started dieing.

Sega has been such a huge part of the video game landscape that I hate to see them flounder. A turn-around doesn't look promising, but I'd love to see it.

I just grabbed Dragon Crown Pro for the ps4. I knew nothing of the game other than the steelbook case looked awesome

complete is the problem, the only thing I can ever find is cart only.

every time one of these comes out I go back and forth on should I or shouldn't I and by the time I decide to pull the trigger the thing is sold out. My SNES collection isn't what it once was so it's difficult to spend that much..

I'd imagine it perform similarly to those games that came out late in a systems life where the next gen platforms were already out and few were made, like a Little Sampson or Bucky O'Hare.

Instead of being limited because it was released too late, its limited because 23045u39045r09u43 x10^100 already downloaded the game.

I'm highly considering picking up physical copies of Friday the 13th because for the longest it was only available as a download. If I ever see a physical copy of Forkknife i'll definitely grab it.

The GBA stuff is sub $10.00... I've not looked at (or for) Yoshi's Island so I'm not sure (I hate that game) if it's high.

The SNES Mario allstars with Super Mario world is still a little high but the gba stuff is dirt cheap it seems. Even stuff like Golden Sun is super reasonable. I don't know what happened but i'm stocking up on GBA as much as I can.

@BLUEVOODU

Admittedly Nam 75 and Baseball Stars has never seem to be a big part of the SNK fanbases' favorites.

They're more of a nostalgic favorite of mine. in the 90's dad was part of a bowling leage and every week he went he'd give me $5 - $10 in quarters and i'd hang out in the bowling alley's arcade. I'd easily spend 4 or 5 beating Nam and the rest would be split between Simpsons, Baseball Stars, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and a bowling game with a track ball attached. I've got the baseball stars for the nes and it's great, but it's not nearly the same as on a neo geo product.

I picked up some cheap stuff from Gamestops retro selection..

Spider-Man and the X-Men Arcades Revenge
Turok 2: Seeds of Evil
Mario Party Advance
Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2
Final Fantasy 8
Final Fantasy Tactics
Game and Watch Gallery 4
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles
Mortal Kombat 3

Lots of PS1 and GBA stuff, but a few snes and even one n64 cartridge, all under $4.00 except for Mario advance, it was 6

Also just picked up Shenmue 1&2 for ps4 and preordered the neo mini w/ 2 gamepads

liked is relative...

I didn't hate it, and I could find worse ways to spend my time.

I think I liked it like I liked the GI Joe movies, the last transformer movie, the 4th Pirates of the Caribbean movie, see where I'm going with this?

gamestop has it online - I guess i'll have to go through them, although last time I ordered one of the classics through them they charged insane for shipping

General Discussion / Re: Roms, Emulation, and Nintendo
September 12, 2018, 09:56:56 PM
If the overwhelming success of the nes and snes classics weren't proof that emulation of the older stuff has little to no effect on Nintendo's ability to make money off their old library then someone isn't listening.

It wouldn't matter if I did or did have every one of those games either on a physical cart or emulated, I still would have purchased the classic machines... matter of fact I bought two of each. It's insane to think Nintendo would waste resources chasing down rom hosting sites when all they've managed to acomplish is to keep the interest in the classic games alive, and playable on newer televisions. I'd venture to say Nintendo has killed off a free source of advertisement, exposing a generation of gamers to something they most likely would have never seen.

The Warcraft movie BARELY merited a Redbox rental for me. I had zero expectation and wasn't disappointed! I'd watch it again when it comes on Netflix

I keep thing, maybe I'm wrong, maybe this will work out. Then I go back to the Indiegogo page...

There's a nice line about how they're no longer promoting the machine, they're instead focusing on manufacturing it. In the mean time this third party company will act as a customer serivce arm but in reality just sends surveys. Smoke and mirrors, while we quietly piss away 3 mil. and have to be responsible for zilch.

anyone wanna go in with me on a indi gogo campaign? I'll spend a couple grand on a prototype, take footage of myself playing a video game with the prototype sitting in the background, and split the money evenly, i'm not greedy.

I hope i'm just being a jerk and this thing becomes bigger than pop music. I'll pay the extra money for not being a backer if this thing ever gets off the ground.

My tastes have changed a lot in the 15 or so years we're talking about, I'd love to give it another shot, but I doubt there's much there for me.

Throwing some conspiracy theory in for good measure...

Business have learned that they can not outright infringe upon or rights or privacy or things like the national do not call lists pops up. BUT when they allow us to give them away freely (social media, free info-collecting-constantly-spamming-apps, etc) we'll leave the doors unlocked, go in blindfolded, and rubber stamp on the signature line.

Leasing personal electronics is step one.

The timing on this one seems like its prime for a Black Friday type of sale. This will be under the Christmas tree with Call of Duty Black Ops 900, Super Ultimate Amazing needs less adjectives Smash Bros. and GTA on Horses.

Retro Gaming and Hardware / Re: Zelda: Skyward Sword - Wii
September 08, 2018, 05:13:47 PM
I picked up Skyward Sword a year or two ago and have yet to play it. I've made sure to own every legend of Zelda game with the intent on finishing them all, but I've only finished the first three, and the last one put out on the 3ds. If you look at it by release date I've skipped about 20 years worth of Zelda games. I've managed to collect them all and will get around to beating every one. It's going to be difficult to work backwards though, especially after playing Breath of the Wild.

SMB 2 holds up a little better for me than SMB 3. I do not deny SMB 3's contribution to video games as we know them and well into the 90's I would have said SMB 3. SMB 2 though just holds up better for me. Maybe it's because I'm better at it!

its been turned on twice maybe. My free time has been focused on Zelda... and one odd night of Viva Pinata on the Rare Replay
