@BLUEVOODU lunar is one of those few RPGs that I really got into. FF9 was another one and also Chrono Trigger. I have played through Lunar on the GBA several times. I just really enjoy the characters and story. And I really enjoy the old school turn based battles. Just simple upgrading your equipment and leveling up. I grind because I want to crush the enemy with little to no harm done to my team. In the GBA version of Lunar I leveled up my team, maxed out, early in the game and walked through every battle after that. It felt good. On the Switch version it is not that easy to accomplish what I want.

@BLUEVOODU i saw this on Disney plus. I was surprised. I really enjoyed it. It is already on DVD and I plan on purchasing it.

I happen to think of something that I have really grown out of...........
The cycle. I started gaming on the Commodore C64. Then I grabbed up a Sega Genesis, excited. I saw so many games that I wanted to purchase and play. Then the SNES came along. Then the desire for those games grabbed my wallet. My interest became divided. I ended up sacrificing games wanted, money weighed between consoles. Then Gameboy, then Game Gear, then Atari Lynx, Turbe Grafx 16, Sega CD, Sega 32X, Sega Saturn, PS1, GB Advance, GB SP, Atari Jaguar, Dreamcast, PS2, DS, DS lite, GameCube, N64, DSi, Wii, PS3, Xbox 360, 3DS, Xbox One, Wii U, finally the NES, and this is where I found myself willing to break the cycle. I never got the full line of games for each console that I desired because the gaming addiction monster was consumed by each new "better,: "bigger," "more powerful," "you need this," successor gaming system.

I have grown out of the desire, or need, to continue believing the gaming companies sales pitch of what I cannot live without. I have grown satisfied with the past gaming consoles and what they offer. Finally grabbing up games I missed. The continuous hype no longer affects me. What games I had fun with in the 90's are still fun. The high cost of modern consoles and their games is a great deterrent that helps you to stop and examine your gaming hobby. In the past I often haunted bargain bins and clearance shelves, for example picking up a 32X from Kay Bees for $19 and its games for $9.99 each. It doesn't take long to learn that you wait for the sale and not for the release day.

This is not so much about "gaming trends that have grown off of me," but more of what I've grown into. When I first started gaming I stayed clear of RPGs. Reading about them sounded boring and dull. I thought to myself, yuk, who in the world would enjoy something like that? I am not sure what RPG that I tried first, or what came over me to even purchase one. But once I tasted of that genre, I was hooked by the story and the turn based gameplay, and of course the grinding. It was more like it expanded my gaming field. Final Fantasy 3 on the original Gameboy, Chrono Trigger on the SNES, Lunar 1 & 2 or FF 9 on the Playstaion 1, all of these set the standard for me. And I might be leaving some out, but not intentionally.

Out of the 46 games that I have for the console, Lunar is stealing the thunder from Animal Crossing. Even though I am slowly going through that game because I stop to grind for a while. I hate just barely beating bosses with half of my team crushed.

I don't know what it is about the Switch, but I have the hardest time getting into that console. To me the design of the console is the same as the original Gameboy Advance. I have never gotten excited about it as I did the DSi, or the 3DS, or the GBA SP. I still favor those consoles above the Switch. I purchase games for the Switch, but continue to fall back to those other consoles.

@retro junkie — did you ever take advantage of this?

Biomotor Unitron is an awesome game.  I need to break out my NGPC

I try to not do digital. I want stuff I can hold. And I would want this to play on the original hardware. It is just one of those things that I missed. Unless at some point Aliexpress begins to produce Neo Pocket carts.  It could happen. They have recently started having Wonder Swan carts. I haven't ordered any yet.

I would suggest Earthion, but it seems to be sold out for every console, from Limited Run Games.

I need to get that out and get into it again. First thing I will need to do is kill all the bugs in the house and then weed the lawns.

Every console I own, if Ms Pacman is available, I will pursue it, find it, and purchase it. It is the best of the Pacman series, IMO.

Really, to be honest, when the arcade came into their prime, I was at a point in my life where I didn't spend any time around them. I was in occasionally but my interests were elsewhere. (hint) I got married in 77. When I did go into the arcade it was for playing Starblade inside one of those sit down cockpits. And there was Daytona or San Francisco Rush. So you are partly right, I was never there in a sense. My gaming really began on a Commodore 64. My real gaming days were at home.
Man I remember playing Stun Runner on a sit down cycle cabinet thing. That was so awesome.

In what way does "never" not make sense? The Mario game was never in any local arcade. Never as in "not here." Never as in "absent." Small Town "never" knew there was such a game, until home consoles.

The local Dairy Queen had a small back room with arcade machines at one point. And there was the struggle to have an arcade in the local mall. It would be there for a while then close, reopen, then close, reopen then close. Every time it would open it had a different name. The last time it opened it stayed the longest. That was when it had all the fighting games, point and shoot games, racing games, etc. It was the hey day of arcades. But, the Mario game? Never was in a local arcade......................

I have recently found Firefox janky. I use it but it crashes, looses the page, looses the bookmarks, not able to find the site. I usually have to reboot the browser and then it works. It is my main browser when running LINUX.

completely forgot about it...........I will try again next week.................

I have gotten addicted to Jewel  Master- Cradle of Athena on my DS-XL. It is sort-of on the same order as  Bejewel, except there is an element of strategy. The combination makes it addictive especially when each board is never the same when playing. There is a relax mode, which puzzles me being that it can be stressful. In this mode you can go back and replay boards that you have completed. The Play mode is level after level until you get to the end. So far I have made it to level 60. I am glad it saves your game. You are timed on each board, you only make points with the coins and treasure chests, and the amount of time you have left. Clearing the board consists of matching up at least three in a roll, there are blue panels, if your match is on these, or one, panel it clears the panel which is needed to make the sphere appear. Then you have to work that sphere to the edge of the board, BOOM, that solves the board and everything is cleared. The combination of everything makes you use your noggin. I sit down with this game every evening until bedtime.

You get to play Super Mario Bros back in the arcade at all?

Never was in a local arcade....

My first time playing Super Mario Bros was on the SNES. It was the "Super Mario All-Stars." It would be a ton of years later with the Advent of the abundant availability of clone consoles before I actually acquired the original games. At that point I started getting into 8bit gaming.

LOL I was expecting something about someone. Interesting..............I will have to look into this but I would rather have a hard copy than just digital. And I just ordered Neo Geo Arcade collection 3.....maaaaan.......this hit me at the wrong time.

XBOX 360...there was just something about that console and the games that it had. And there were some shmups on there that I love to play, Espgaluda II and Deathsmiles. And the RPGs, like Blue Dragon, Fable series, and there were some action games that I found fun. But it is a bit fuzzy. I would have to pull that out and go through those games one day. But there are some warm fuzzy feelings when I think about the 360. There was just something about the game library that was missing in the following XBOX consoles.

even got into the Kinect thing........infinity.........skylanders.........Mass Effect............

I would have been there but I was preoccupied. Surely I will be free this coming Tuesday...

when grocery shopping it seems that anything that we purchase and get into as a regular at our table, the store stops carrying it. Being lactose intolerant, avoiding things that deal with cholesterol issues, watching the sugar thing, whew the golden years are tricky, limits the things that you can choose from to eat. Getting the things we need, I usually end up going to three to four different stores. My groceries are the biggest monthly bill that we have.

And when it comes to gaming, unless it is heavily marked down, I am totally retro gaming from this time forward. I will not even consider gaming generations that follow. Price of admission is beyond me.
