Gunslugs: I think I had this game on the Ouya when it was a thing. One of those consoles that lasted like a short fuse. And this game has been ported onto multiple consoles as a digital download. It first was released to cell phones. The 3DS had it in the eshop. Well someone also ported it to the Sega Genesis. Why not?

This is a fast pace run and gun action game that will captivate anyone that loves something like Contra or Metal Slug.
The storyline of Gunslugs follows the adventures of a group of slugs who are attempting to find more information about the mysterious Black Duck army, and what their goals are. The army is waging war, and it's the players job to stop them.

The graphics are very simple, pixelated, blocky, but it is not about the graphics. It is all about the gameplay. The enemy is relentless and they come in like a mob. You have land mines, first aid pickups, ammo, weapons, enemy headquarters to destroy, and a copter that flies in to pick you up out of the mess when the mission is accomplished. And don't forget about the bosses. And I love the word balloons that pop up when the enemy is killed.
This game is a fun romp. It can be addicting....

Honestly, I completely forgot about the Ouya @retro junkie.  If you said "BV... I was just trolling you.  There was no Ouya" ... I would 100% believe you.  This came out at a transitional period in my life.

I don't remember this game on the eShop for the 3DS... or anything other digital purchasing platform.   Was this game well received?

I found a listing on Steam:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/371890/Gunslugs/

This game does look interesting.  It looks like something out of the vein of Broforce and Expendabros (and others).  There are 20 reviews... fairly positive.  I'd be interested in trying this out.   Pretty cool it was ported to the Sega Genesis.

How much time have you put into this game?  Does it keep you coming back?

If you find games like Contra addictive then you will enjoy this type of game. This was available for the PSVita at one time.
