Title: Good Boy (2025) Film Review
Post by: Princess Peach on October 23, 2026, 02:00:29 PM
Every October, my fiance and I fill a calendar with scary movies all ranging from the classics to modern day releases. This year, we have added a lot of movies from the 2020's, one of which being 'Good Boy' by Ben Leonberg (2025).

My fiance and I agreed this is one of the most unique horror films we have ever really seen. It follows main character Todd and his dog, Indy, whose POV tells the whole story. That's right – the film is shot entirely from the dog's perspective as the true main character.

The movie follows Todd, who suffers from a genetic lung disease and is always accompanied by his best bud, Indy. As his health regresses, Todd moves into his late grandfather's secluded cabin with Indy to try and focus on his health. As you might imagine, the cabin is not what it seems, and Indy is aware that they are not alone in this cabin. Through Indy's POV, you see a malevolent presence slowly infiltrate Todd that only Indy seems to be able to sense, while also learning what happened to Todd's grandfather and his dog.

It was a truly spooky movie without having to rely on knee-jerk jumpscares and typical horror tropes. You might think the POV of a dog would be limiting for a movie, but this storytelling was so unique and expressive that it leaves you feeling truly terrified of what's happening. If you are looking for a breath of fresh air in the scary movie genre, please check out Good Boy for a real spooky treat.

Fun fact! Indy is actually the director's dog, and that is his real name! He is also the cutest little guy who is truly a Good Boy. :)
