Title: Project Hail Mary
Post by: BLUEVOODU on March 26, 2026, 02:08:29 PM
This movie came out on Monday March 23rd, 2026.  Project Hail Mary has been on my radar for MANY months now and we are going to try to catch it this weekend... and I think in IMAX.

I am not spoiling or looking for spoilers yet... please make sure to use the spoiler functions if you provide information from when you viewed the movie.

Who has seen Project Hail Mary?  Are you interested in the movie?  Thoughts... comments... Post it up!

We ended up seeing this movie last night in IMAX. I highly recommend Project Hail Mary!  It is one of the best movies we have seen in many many years.

Fly Me to the Moon was also really high up there.

I highly recommend Project Hail Mary - no spoilers for everyone yet lol  :great:

I've not seen the movie but I started reading the book and it is fantastic. Its probably too late to catch it in the theater but I'll see it at some point.

@targetrasp  - yeah... it's going to be on Prime.  My understanding is that it's an Amazon movie (and one of their best grossing movies so far).  I don't see any information on a physical release... not sure that will happen like Fly Me to The Moon... which sucks.  However, the information for streaming has also not been released as well.  Come on Amazon!

We ended up seeing this movie a 2nd time.   Still a decent amount of people watching the movie.  Kind of cool to see that a couple months later.  :great:

I heard @mastermario might have seen this movie as well.

This is Definitely a must see film!

I saw it, it was really really good. There are a couple of emotional scenes in it. I'm not 100% sure about the ending, though. I think it could have been better and I'm guessing there were some alternate endings that were options at some point.

@mastermario  - If there are other endings, I'd like to see them (eventually).  It looks like they're going to release this now on physical media... and I'll be buying it.  Maybe we will get alternate endings there lol.

I really thought this movie Was perfect from start to finish.  This movie definitely hit the feels at times.  What I like about this ending is:

Spoiler: ShowHide
for once... the 2 friends stuck together and had a happy ending.  In so many other cases, something tragic happens or people split up.  It was awesome to see them stick together.  BEESSSTT FRIIEENDDSS lol  :great:

You can stream the movie on prime now. Finally watched it this weekend and I can't say it disappointed. The movie did gloss over a lot of the scientific details the book expanded upon but it was pretty faithful overall. The few liberties the movie took were small and insignificant to the overall plot, and really just helped pacing and add a bit of drama.

Nice @targetrasp  - yeah ... we ended up pre-ordering the 4K as well. It took a long time for them to get the physic offering added to Amazon for pre-order

Now... I have not read the book. So my review is based on movie only.   Unfortunately for me, the details missed between the 2 versions are not known.

Pre-order affiliate link: https://amzn.to/4fiFlE5
Physical version launches August 11, 2026

This will be offered in DVD, Blu-Ray and 4K Blu-Ray.  I'll try to post up an official pre-order topic.

First book I've read that became a movie since DaVinci Code!

Someone at work wouldn't shut up about it so I took his copy and read it in about a week. Probably the last fiction book I read, unless you count something from audible, for the next decade or two.

@targetrasp I remember a documentary I didn't shut up about and you didn't view LOL.  :))

We ended up getting the 4k version of this movie.  Amazon offered it.  We pulled the trigger.    I am glad they released Hail Mary to a physical release... unlike Fly Me to the Moon.  I do wish they gave you 4K and Blu-Ray with the same pack, but you have a to select one or the other.

@BLUEVOODU Documentary? I don't recall :P

And wow, talk about saving a few cents, It seems not too long ago where you got both 4k and standard blu ray in the same package. I can't imagine dropping the standard blu ray saving all that much. Corporate min-maxing is really sticking it to the consumer.

Lol you remember the documentary.

And I know... it's something more recent.  Disney did it with their steel book releases of Ahsoka, Mandalorian... and several other TV shows.  It seems like this is now somewhat the most common mode.  Not for everything, but for most things.  I guess everyone is trying to figure out how to squeeze out every cent these days.
