Title: The Cost of Peripherals
Post by: BLUEVOODU on December 15, 2025, 08:21:21 AM
As I mentioned in another thread, I was walking around Best Buy checking a few things out.  I noticed the cost of peripherals have really skyrocketed in the last few years.  The Switch 2 pro controller is now $90.  A set of Switch 2 Joy Cons are now $99.99 --> This was a $20 increase.  I get it, there are new features and enhancements... the cost is a bit crazy IMO.

I'm no stranger to expensive peripherals.  Back in the 90's, I would buy the Thrustmaster Joysticks for  $79-89, if I'm correctly remembering.  I used to play Janes and other flight simulators quite often. That was 90's money.  However, the bulk of peripherals didn't cost that much.

The cost of peripherals are very high today.  Look at the keyboards and mice for PCs, controllers for gaming... you can see it everywhere.  The excuse for higher prices is the "price adjusted for inflation" argument... and there is truth to that.  However, when they do not necessarily "salary adjust for inflation" as well and salaries do not keep up, raising prices just squeezes people out.

What are your thoughts on the rising peripheral prices?   Are you getting sticker shock as well?

Thoughts, comments... post it up!
