Okay I got the bug. Or the itch. I had to do this. My Daughter likes some of the old Gameboy Color games but she does not have the console so she uses her Gameboy Advance SP to play the games. So eyeing one of the old GameBoy Colors that I picked up years ago at an indoor flea market it hit me. Why don't I refurbish this thing and make it new and give it to her as a gift this coming Christmas?

So I ordered the parts, a new shell and a screen upgrade. They got here this past week and I sat down and started taking everything apart and waded through this whole process having never gone this far before.

I cleaned up the contacts. Reassembled the console. Put the back sticker on and flipped the on switch. Beautiful screen and looks like a brand new console. I will now put this away somewhere and wrap this in December and place it under the tree. I used to have a fear about disassembling something like this. Not anymore, I am over it.

That old shell still has a good screen in there........hmmmm....might keep a watch on eBay for someone selling a GBC with a bad screen....

Good work @retro junkie - This looks awesome.  If your daughter checks the board, your gift might not be a surprise  :))    This is a wonderful project, it looks great and thank you for sharing.  That is one heck of a cool gift.  :great:

On the Game Boy Pocket... can't wait to see your post. My Ice Blue Game Boy Pocket was played A LOT.  I remember getting that pretty cheap.  It was (and still is) a wonderful system.
