Title: DK Challenge journey - collectible card set
Post by: BLUEVOODU on August 31, 2026, 08:05:25 PM
This ends tonight... However, this is also a really cool concept that I think Nintendo needs to continue to explore.  It's also a feature we see on Steam.  It's not achievements (yet... Nintendo, you need an achievement system).  It is Bonus Cards!

Description:
Celebrate your DK Challenge journey with a collectible card set inspired by both the colorful world of the Donkey Kong Bananza game and classic Donkey Kong adventures. This physical 39-card set and custom card case is available to eligible participants who complete the entire DK Challenge. No My Nintendo Platinum Points* are required to redeem this reward.

Eligible members who complete the DK Challenge by September 1 at 12:59 a.m. PT will be notified in early October via a My Nintendo news article with instructions on how to claim the reward. This offer is available only to eligible players in the United States.

Card breakdown:
39 cards with individual designs
24 cards featuring challenges in Donkey Kong Bananza
15 cards featuring retro challenges in select Nintendo Classics titles

Now... I think this is cool and digital rewards like this do get people to come back and play games more.  However, as you can see, there's also an ability to get a physical card!  Now that's cool.

What do you think about this?  I'm hoping Nintendo keeps it up and adds to these benefits.  Achievement system as well, Nintendo ... ahem.  :great:

Thoughts, comments... post it up!

I love the physical stuff (giggity), and would lean hard into this type of thing. I got a lot of the stuff when Gamestop was giving away physical exclusives via gamer points and when Nintendo did the club Nintendo I bought a lot more games I probably wouldn't have because they were cheap and had the pin codes.

I know... this is awesome.  My son has the game... might have completed the challenges.  What physical stuff did you get from Gamestop?   It's been awhile since I've turned points into Nintendo to get stuff from game purchases.  I scored some really cool stuff back in the DS days when entering the codes for Nintendo points to get physical stuff.

for a brief moment in time gamestop had exclusive comic book variants. I wasn't able to get them all but I have about a dozen or so.

gamestop variants (https://comicspriceguide.com/exclusives/gamestop/yc)

most can be had on ebay for 5 - 20 bucks, my favorite is the Amazing Spider-man 1 that's about $30 ungraded, 100 - 150 graded
