For me, I had just finished playing Rise of the Tomb Raider, and HZD plays pretty similarly in a lot of ways. Combat and stealth and the environment puzzles are heavily influenced. So I didn't have a whole lot of trouble with that. But admittedly, I played through the entire game on Normal until I got to the final boss, where I attempted it but got frustrated enough that I had to set it down to "story" to finish it. I later found out it was because I didn't have the best armor.

You can kind of charge in and go Rambo if you're on an easier mode and have a lot of good weapon/armor upgrades. Tearblast arrows to their weak spots make it kind of trivial at lower difficulties.

I'm actually surprised there wasn't a topic about this game already.

Has anyone else played it? I picked it up on Black Friday last year after hearing that it was good and I was definitely not disappointed. It's easily in my top 10 favorite games.

I have several Amiibos but I won't lie, I bought them as collectible figurines rather than with any intent to actually use them in a game. Some are still in the package, in fact.

They are still packed until I can get a glass cabinet to display them in, but off the top of my head this is what I remember having:
Samus Aran
Zero Suit Samus
Marth
Wii Fitness Trainer
Charizard
Wolf Link and Midna
Wind Waker Link
Sheik

I still really want Lucina, Bayonetta, and Cloud.

Imagine being in Spartan armor that's identical to everyone else's Spartan armor and having someone say "You look good in red" because they realize you're a woman from voice chat, and then refusing to play the game correctly because they just want to follow you around and hit on you.

I had a lot of terrible experiences back in the days of Halo 2. Playing online games as a woman is truly an experience. I still avoid voice chat if I can help it.

I don't know that I would include trophies/achievements, since those really only started with Xbox 360/PS3. Personally I think saying whether you beat it or not suffices. Although I guess you could just put trophy/achievement options on games that those are applicable for.

On a somewhat related note, I've only ever platinumed one game. ???

I had it but now I can't remember if I traded it in or not. Whoops!

Really, I'd just love to play ODST again and I don't remember if that's on the Master Chief Collection or not.

I'm late to this topic but I would say definitely try out the Tomb Raider game, too. I've loved the reboots so far.

And yeah the Walking Dead games are really good. I never did get into the show but it's not necessary for enjoying the games. If you like that style of game, Telltale Games has another game called "The Wolf Among Us" which is also really good and I highly recommend it.

Personally I feel like samurai and red mage are probably the least complicated for dps. They have pretty straightforward rotations, even at 70. I'm not sure if you have to have Stormblood to have them unlocked, though. Of the original DPS, I'm not sure which would be the easiest. All of them got a lot of stuff added between level 51 and 70. Black mage takes some getting used to at 60 when you have to learn how to keep Enochian up for Fire IV rotations, for example. But other than that, it's not that bad.

Also, you might try out healing with white mage. Healing itself can be stressful but the process isn't terribly complicated.

Tanking as a paladin is another option. There's not really much to the rotation until 70 and that's if you're trying to maximize your dps output while tanking.

I think I put my character name in the general topic, but mine is Senah Kha if you want to try and look me up in game. I haven't been on much myself recently but I probably will at least tomorrow and Wednesday. I have all of the combat classes at 70 so I could take you through dungeons or stuff if you needed help with that. You can run dungeons unsynced so that might make it a little easier to learn the new bard stuff if you want to keep going with that.

The first game I really played that made other games unplayable for a while because they just didn't compare was the Tomb Raider reboot in 2013. It was just such an amazing game. I mean the story was not the best (it's certainly not the caliber of an rpg) but every other element was amazing.

Another game I recall fondly, though not for the same reasons, is Spec Ops: The Line. A friend of mine recommended it to me. As far as the gameplay, it's a pretty standard first person shooter. But the set up of the story is ...very thought provoking.

I mostly played with Legos, Ninja Turtle figures, and Matchbox cars when I was younger. They're mostly still around lol

I've been alternating between Lightning Returns and the usual FFXIV.

In FFXIV I just got two more Eureka relic weapons finished (red mage and samurai).

In Lightning Returns I'm currently on day 7? Or maybe 8. I'm trying to get sidequests done since I'm stuck a bit on a few of the bosses.

I just picked up used copies of Final Fantasy Type 0 and Tales of Berseria. When I'll actually get to them, I'm not sure.  ;D

I thought some of the games have a built in screenshot thing, too? I remember taking pics from Animal Crossing every now and then when I got a new outfit or a villager said something funny. It saved it to the memory card and you had to look it up on a computer but the quality was fine.

I've just gotten used to using Google, although they have a new policy on images that is annoying (I think you can't download pictures) so if I really need something like that I might use Bing instead.

Ali Hillis is super nice! I met her at a local convention (Anime Weekend Atlanta). Most anime and game conventions now have signings like that. Usually you have to pay a fee, but that's fairly common now. She's very down to earth though. I mentioned that I had just finished playing World of Final Fantasy and how I loved chibi Lightning and we talked about that for a minute while she signed the artwork.

The next day she had an early panel, like 11 am, and it was the last day of the con so not that many people were there, and instead of sitting up on the stage, she brought the microphone down and sat close to the small group of us that was there in a more personal setting.

I got another autograph actually because that same day I waited to get one from Laura Bailey (she did Serah's voice in the FFXIII games) and once I got that, Ali's line was almost gone so I went back and had her sign the same artwork that Laura signed, and we talked about how there was a Final Fantasy concert at the con that day and how good the music was in the FFXIII series. Ali also mentioned that more Lightning was on the way, and at her earlier panel she had talked about Dissidia and the mobile games so I'm hoping she was referring to yet another new game.

I probably spent at least $70 just to see her but it was totally worth it.

Somewhat related but I have a video (http://sword0fstorms.tumblr.com/post/166022192761/voice-actor-panel-awa-2017-featuring-feodor-chin) of Ali, Laura, Jennifer Hale, and Feodor Chin (the voice of Zenyatta from Overwatch) from a panel they did, too.

This year at Momocon there's a lot of voice actors I'm going to try and meet: Lucie Pohl (Mercy from Overwatch), Jen Cohn (Pharah from Overwatch), Crispin Freeman (Regal from Tales of Symphonia/Winston from Overwatch), and Kari Wahlgren (Raine from Tales of Symphonia).

For Pokemon Sun and Moon specifically, you trade in the Festival Plaza. I think you can also do global trading if you're linked up to wifi, but that's random so you don't know which Pokemon you'll get. I had my friend's Friend Code though so I was able to trade with them specifically by finding them in the Festival Plaza.

I wouldn't mind having titles. They were pretty cool!

For the most part I try to keep the cables that actually come with the system, so I still have the Microsoft one for the Xbox One and the Sony one for my PS4. That's why I was concerned with it not working, but fortunately it was just the switcher and not the HDMI cable.
#109
Oh! Well I guess we'll have to coordinate, or I'll just keep checking! My character name is Senah Kha if you want to try on your end.

Currently my FC is mostly spamming Eureka (I really want the t-rex mount).

Another Golden Sun game might be cool. I really enjoyed all of the ones that are already out.

ESO = Elder Scrolls Online. It's a free to play MMO once you purchase the game.

It feels like an Elder Scrolls game, but the way inventory is handled is awful (because they want you to pay for more space).

I have a red 3DS XL but I hardly play it now. I'm still working on Pokemon Sun. I had a Pokemon that needed to be traded to evolve and it took forever to find someone to trade with. So now I have my full party ready, I'll try to finish it.

I got monk to 70 in FFXIV so now I have the title of "Goddess of War"  8) Only need to get black mage to 70 and I'll have all the combat classes maxed.

Oh and Mai my characters name on FFXIV is Kini Otonashi if you want to friend add me.  :3

I tried to add you but it said that name didn't exist. I'm not sure how to add friends from other servers.

I use a 24" Vizio for my pc, my PS4, and Xbone and it only has one HDMI port. Unfortunately every HDMI switcher I've tried has been awful, so I end up just switching the actual cable.

But now I mostly only use the PS4 and I have a laptop now so I haven't looked into better switchers.

Sony consoles tend to have issues with switchers. For some reason, it has handshaking issues with TVs. PS3s were notorious for this and I still believe it broke the HDMI input on my old TV that I no longer have. Had to switch to Component since I didn't have another HDMI input.

My first guess would be the PS4 is the culprit but could also be the switcher or the cable. My roku did not like the ultra thin HDMI cables I got from Monoprice but worked fine with a normal sized one.

Yeah, my PS4 was the biggest problem. It worked fine at first but eventually stopped working with the switcher at all. But after that happened I realized the switcher was an issue because even with my PC the screen would flicker a lot! I thought at first it was just the tv (because it fell over once) but once I hooked the PC HDMI right up to the tv instead of through the switcher, all the issues went away.

I'll start this by being cheesy and saying that I remember when there wasn't even voice acting in games, but now I have no idea what it would be like without it.

Personally my #1 favorite voice actress is Ali Hillis, who does Lightning from any FFXIII related stuff, and was also the voice of Liara T'soni from the original Mass Effect trilogy. Last year I actually got to meet her in person and got her autograph.

I also love:
Jennifer Hale (femShep)
Matthew Mercer (McCree from Overwatch)
Kari Wahlgren (does a lot of stuff but my favorite is still Raine Sage from Tales of Symphonia)

That being said, who are some of your favorites?

My roommate recently just ordered Rock Band 4 along with the guitars for XBox One. I think since we already have XBL that some of the songs from Rock Band 3 should carry over. They're looking forward to that more than I am but I haven't looked at the song list yet.

There's still exclusives, but most of the good ones have been on the PS4 rather than the Xbox One. The X1 I think really got hurt by the initial poor sales caused by the Kinect controversy when it first came out.

I just had some macaroni and cheese that had Chipotle sauce mixed in. It was ok but I definitely prefer the salsa one instead.
