Well, finally I got a hold of the Neo Geo Arcade 1. One Merchant got a new supply so at a good price of 29USD I was able to obtain a copy. The Buzzards and Vultures of eBay did not pick my wallet clean.
Having the Neo Geo Arcade 1 completes my collection of the three available carts for the Evercade and Super Pocket consoles. There had been talk last year of a fourth cart but everything has been silent so far this year. I will keep my ear to the ground. Really, this has been the only series of multi carts coming from Blaze that I can say that every game on the cart is a winner for me. Usually it is one or two games that peak my interest and cause me to consider if it would be worth it. With 14 games on the Super Pocket Neo Geo edition plus the 18 games on the combined carts, that is 32 Neo Geo games total.
The games on this collection,
The King of Fighters 2000
Metal Slug
Shock Troopers
Magician Lord
Sengoku
Ironclad

Ironclad was the one game on this cart that I had not played before. It is a worthy title of your gaming time if you love shmups like I do. Good selection of ships with their strengths and weaknesses. Very satisfying side scrolling "shoot everything that moves" fun.

I received an update on my Evercade VS-R. I now can go into the settings and have the option of MVS or AVS gameplay for the Neo Geo games. Awesome!!! The Super Pockets are not upgradable, so you are stuck with arcade play only.

I play these games with the heavy scanlines option. That is the only way that they look right to me. The Evercade VS-R is the only console that I have owned that does the scanlines correctly.
