This is by far one of my favorite Shmups ever made (probably favorite). I don't know why... but the moment I played UN Squadron on the Super Nintendo, I was HOOKED. Beyond Hooked... I couldn't put the game down. I've not had that same hook with most other Shmups even though that is one of my favorite gaming genres.
The levels, the music, the gameplay... and even the aircraft were all awesome. The level design was great, the challenge was fun... The end levels are just brutal but still are a draw. The game seemed balanced. It wasn't necessarily a bullet hell game. One thing I don't understand is, why haven't they made a sequel?
Area 88 also known as Un Squadron - we really need a sequel. I'd take a modern sequel as well! :great:

@BLUEVOODU I remember playing UN Squadron and I still have it. But there was several other games that I felt the same way about them as you do with UN. My time was spent on,
Gradius III
R-Type
Space Mega Force
Darius Twin
Axelay
I spent all my game time on these games. I am thinking that these games was the main reason I never finished Super Mario World. Gradius was the first one I got with the SNES, then R-Type followed. Other shooters came later including Star Fox, but these games hooked me. These games shaped my love for the genre.
