@Mai Valentine  - This game was mentioned on deal in the Gamestop Black Friday Thread...  I've been wanting to try this game since reading your thread in April.  Like Creepindeth... I was waiting for a price drop.  Hopefully I can pick this game up tomorrow from our local Gamestop.  They don't seem to have stock though... and due to Axiom Verge Multiverse Edition Playstation Vita  shipping issues with Gamestop... I don't want to order online from Gamestop anymore.

@CreepinDeth Are you picking this up now? LOL... seems the price has dropped sufficiently 

I really wanted Horizon Zero Dawn for the PlayStation 4...but I cannot seem to get it locally right now.  I'm going to call them tomorrow.    It's still $10 and I want it.

I remember you and @Mai Valentine writing about it in the Linked post above.  For $10... and for the Complete Edition... I'll do it.

LOL... I hear you... I used to like AS I Lay Dying a lot until the singer was convicted for trying to setup a deal to kill his wife.  I still like the music a bit... but it killed it for me.    Austrian Death Machine is essentially As I Lay Dying plus Guests.. and Arnold Schwarzenegger... and songs about all his movies.  Pretty funny... pretty good music.

Not a problem - I can do that.  Yeaaaahh.... I know what you mean.  What I do is have Discord, the @mentions for this forum, and topic subscriptions for this forum go to email.  Most everything else... outside investing price alerts ... are killed off anymore or are sent to "summary" emails.   Summary emails might be a good idea for this forum, but that will take a bit of development time.  You know... a running log of what's been happening, though I want to make things meaningful and not ignored.   Working on that balance.

TLDR... sure!  no problem lol.

I need to pick more of these up... we probably need a post where we can list all the Gradius games and variants.  That would be a fun topic.

I've had a bit of a Shmup addiction the last month.  I picked up another one for the PS4... there will be a post / small review of it coming soon.

I can solder pretty well but this guy puts the kids in a Foxconn sweatshop to shame. what he does in about 30 seconds would have taken me at least 5 minutes.

I was trying to get @SpartanEvolved on Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 .... no go so far.

Speaking of that... I need to get you ( @targetrasp ) and @Jack to play Blackout or Team Death Match. It's about time for that.

Licensing could definitely be the hold up @targetrasp  AND that would make sense.  Though.... not being able to easily transfer doesn't make sense    I guess it could be a ploy to get people to buy their games multiple times.  There are some games ( I believe) available on the Wii but not newer consoles. I could be wrong on that... but I thought Sin and Punishment was one of them.  It might be available everywhere now.

LOL... I miss those LAN nights  where we played Mario Party.  That was ridiculously fun.

idk... it's hard to say whether Mario Party 5 or 6 is better.  I love 5 a lot ... but 6 improved upon some things and made the action faster.

Nice!! @retro junkie  Good job on the DS Lite Repair. That's awesome.   It looks like you needed a part 1 and a part 2 marathon lol    Good stuff though.  It looks like you had a lot of fun... and played a few SHMUPS as well!  Akai Katana Looks great!  I want to try that game.

My favorite Geometry wars was on the Nintendo Wii.  I've played several of the versions... but that one is by far my favorite.  The one on the Playstation Vita is extremely well done as well...  I need to make topics on those games  in the near future.

Mastermario, Grindspine, and I ended up playing Diablo 3 and Overwatch - This is at the Pseudo - LAN Thanksgiving thread.

I now have Overwatch PC...  we Played it Thanksgiving night.  Check out the ThanksGiving Pseudo-Lan topic.


Post up if you have it.  Mastermario, Grindspine, Spartanevolved, and I have it.  I definitely would like to get more games rolling in Overwatch PC.

Per our regular yearly tradition, @mastermario @Grindspine and @SpartanEvolved gamed.  Unfortunately, Instead of a Thanksgiving Lan...  We used to play from after dinner... all night.   So this year, Grindspine and I started out with Diablo 3... then Mastermario, ComradGC (Gamecube lol) and I played 2.5 hours of Overwatch.


How many of you have Overwatch?  Check in at the Overwatch Topic   I'm going to try to organize some people to get together.

@mastermario it's cross platform. I believe pc plays with console which plays with mobile.. And even the switch.   See my cross play topic.

Lol annnd as I said - I don't want that to be a basis to post.  I want people to enjoy this place and to feel free to come and go (hopefully more coming than going ) as they please.  I want it to be a home base... a place to gather, have permanence (unlike many communities in social media these  days), and for gathering players for multiplayer gaming.

This place isn't going away and I'm going go continue to work on updates.   People remember the 'good ol ega days'. We can have those again here. 


@mastermario we need to create a GameCube topic on this and the pc topic.  It would be cool to get a few people to play .

LOL... Hey @CreepinDeth ... 

I was more of a digital copy versus physical copy for the PlayStation Vita... UNTIL... I ran into a time where my system was offline for a bit and I didn't open a few digital games for awhile.   I couldn't play them until I connected.  There's something in the games that don't allow you to play them if you haven't been online in a certain number of days AND tried to connect to the game.  I get why they do it... but it sucks too.  I shouldn't have to ensure I'm trying to play a game every x days so it stays active on my system.

Fear factory demanufactered is still one of my favorite cds. That and Megadeth Rust in Peace... hanger 18 and tornado of souls keeps getting better and better

Actually... what's worse.... is when you find an awesome collectors edition SteelBook... you get it... and it's dented / damaged but there are no copies left to buy and returning the game has challenges.  First World Problem... but that's my biggest peeve.

@Jack  - Maybe @Grindspine has checked this out.  He and his Lady like to watch certain Anime / animated films.  I have not seen or heard anything on this.  Maybe post a trailer from Youtube?  I know he likes Ghost in the Shell too.

I definitely like the Studio Ghibli series... as well as others.  I haven't had a lot of time to look into new Anime series.    This one might be a cool one to look into.

I've seen @Strubes play this game as well... it would be cool to see if we could get him to play as well.

... THAT... AND get @SpartanEvolved to buy it LOL.  I texted him your GameStop Deals Thread with Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 for $38.  SO... maybe he'll pick It up.

@targetrasp Black Out is a great way to see what all the weapons do... so is Team Death Match or free for all.  Both of those are exactly like the classic modes with the same load outs / classes.

You and @Jack both were!  I was on Black Ops 4 for like 3+ hours lol.

ALSO... @mastermario could've played Phantasy STar Online.

As @targetrasp and @Aya-Kun mentioned... Steel Books are where it's at.  There have been quite a few cool Steel Books made, but one of my favorite still is the Shadow of the Tomb Raider - PlayStation 4 and Xbox One - STEELBOOK.  Follow that link to see it.  I Will post up my images at some point of the steel book... cool stuff though. 

I have to agree with @Mai Valentine and everyone else... I prefer physical copies for everything.  However, after recently downsizing some stuff... I do see the appeal @Grindspine and @SpartanEvolved mentioned of having digital copies.  Less Storage .... is a good good thing.

I get what you mean... Local stores seem really cool, but upper management comes down very hard.   One of the local employees helped me out big time... but they were like "I cannot hold this game beyond 5pm though or I will get in big trouble."  They did a big favor for me at launch.  I would've paid them over the phone but they couldn't do that either.  SOOOOO.... they saved it for me until after I got off work.  I get why there are rules and what-not... but it's not cool working in an environment like that.

@SpartanEvolved Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 - $38.00.. do it.  @Jack (if he finally adds me to PS4, I was on BLOPS 4 all Saturday  ), @targetrasp , and need to get in a few games.

I know a lot of gamers these days will welcome it.  from 2000-2012, there was a major change in distributions to a more digitally distributed format, DRMs, etc.   Personally, I like physical media... but others have stated it's cumbersome... especially when you move or have to take care of everything.  It doesn't surprise me they are looking into this... especially so they don't have to pay Sony rights  on the Blu-ray Players.  Laptops, ipads, and many other devices have gone to loading the OS via USB, network, and other methods.  Loading from disk is becoming more and more rare.

With that said... it's only a matter of time.  IF THEY ACTUALLY accomplish this take, they will have to increase drive space and increase it well.  We could still rely on external hard drives like we have to now, but I think the would need to make the systems 3-4TB at minimum.  This would definitely increase the cost, though a 3-4 TB PATA drive is relatively inexpensive dollar to GB.

It would also take the focus of the Game Console and move it away from the "center of entertainment system" status a little bit.  OR you would have to plan on where to play your Blu-Rays, DVDs, etc.   This could be accomplished without much pain in an external player hooked up to your TV.  The negative is this adds one more device to your overall setup - which is less efficient.  More and more, your movies are moving to digital format.  THOUGH... services like Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc... don't have EVERYTHING ready to go at a moments notice.  You then have online rental services to fill in the gap.  Who wants to do that when you already pay a monthly fee for your other services?  Not me... but I guess that's another first world problem.    

Great topic... very interesting.  What are your thoughts @retro junkie ?    I guess my price point would have to be $200-ish...but it better have good storage built in.  Laptops and other devices no longer give a discount for no drive.  I'm can't say they ever did... but those devices have a much smaller device foot print now.  This has some value to it.  It's interesting to see some of the things playing out now that we talked about in the 2006 time frame, if I am correct.
