It's definitely going to keep going up the more rare the components become. Even if us common folk don't pay the ridiculous prices, there's probably someone who does have the money and will still pay because that money is pocket change to them.

AMD and Samsung have said that they will start manufacturing AM4 CPUs and DDR4 RAM, respectively, again to help combat prices. Whether that will happen remains to be seen. Probably worth waiting a little bit to see if that happens. But I predict that we won't see 2023 prices. I bought a 32GB DDR4 RAM kit back then for around $65 with tax included. I wouldn't be surprised if it's still over $100 even with more stock available.

Or maybe see what the price of a Steam Machine is.

It's amazing what developers can do when they've learned all there is to a system. I wish more developers would do this for other consoles. I think there are a couple of new digital games for N64 that push that hardware to the limit.

This one popped up on my radar from a couple of "Best of 2025" videos and I was able to see why. Love it.

I have been playing Tetris 99 again here and there... leveled up a bit more.  I cannot seem to get into the top 10 these days.   I've been between 10-13... and insanity ensues once you reach this point LOL.   Don't blink...

Tetris 99 is one of the most fun Switch games imo

Wow... I understand the rationale behind  getting rid of your Sega Dreamcast collection.   It's just weird to read about you doing that in your post LOL  ;D  Go several years back... I never thought I would've read that coming from you.  But it really makes sense and I'm thinking through many of these decisions as well.

I have a vast collection and I'm thinking about selling off many different pieces.  More information to come.  However, Right now, I'm looking at the following:
Neo Geo CD
Neo Geo AES
Neo Geo MVS Cabinet
Turbo Grafx 16 w/ CD and US System Card 3.0
Turbo Express (after I fix it...  ??? )
Sega Saturn
Sega Dreamcast

These are not in any order.  It's hard to look at these systems and games and think about parting with them... However, They are all collecting dust.  If I had more room, I would be more tempted to keep them.  I don't and who knows what the future holds or if we'll look for a larger space in the near future.  The reasons are getting smaller and smaller for me as well.   Could I actually pull the trigger?   ???   Especially on the Neo Geo AES and CD stuff... as I know I will NEVER get it back... especially at today's prices.

Man... for $200... I might be tempted to sell mine.   I'm looking at this left and right across my collection.   This is partly why I created the paring topic post:\

It's funny ... I haven't heard the title "Chibi-Robo" in forever... it's cool they brought it back to the Nintendo Switch... at least giving some of these titles more life.

This is another great post, @retro junkie.  I dig this Genesis series you're doing!

In regard to this game, it has been on my radar.  There was a Nintendo Switch Physical version I was going to pick up... but missed it and the price skyrocketed upwards to $80-100... regrets were made lol.  ???

How did you pick up your copy?  I am hoping to pick up a copy of this at some point... not for the Genesis, but for something else.  It probably will have to be digital though since the Physical switch copy is now so expensive.   Are you also hitting the 2026 US pre-order?

Oh there's so many!

The various cartoon specials and Rankin Bass cartoon / stop motion are primarily used as background noise throughout December, but the first movie we watch every year while we put up the tree is Christmas Vacation. Deeper into December we work our way through the Grinch movies, Gremlins, Scrooged, Die Hard, Home Alone, and as Christmas draws closer, we tend to rock some of the classics, A Christmas Carol, it's a wonderful life, A Christmas Story, etc. For bonus points we pepper in the Harry Potter movies but as of yet have not found enough time in December to finish them all.

I'm thinking of getting rid of my Dreamcast collection. Even though it's a great system, the console and the discs are deteriorating at a rapid pace.

The console itself eventually gets laser problems (my launch day console experienced this about 10 years ago already.) You can change it, but there's only so much you can do to keep it living.

The discs are the other problem. They were not well made and a bunch are now experiencing disc rot. Turning them basically into coasters. My Sonic Adventure disc looks like something ate through the data layer even though it's been in the case most of its life.

The reasons for me to have this collection are getting smaller and smaller.
