@BLUEVOODU i looked this up on Amazon and did not recognize the shmups. So instead I went for the Toaplan Arcade collections for the Evercade console. There are four volumes. I know most of the games on them. Familiar territory won me over. But I do have this on my bucket list.

Not sure I remember the blue light. Was that the Playstation logo on the home button? This was that one console that snuck in past my retro gaming radar. Knowing what it was at the time I grabbed it up in a pawn shop, mint condition, for something like $80. I knew they did not know what they had. (You contain your excitement until you get in the car.)
The Vita pulled me into it's world. I was getting email, web surfing, YouTube, gaming, sending text to friends, getting trophies, even online gaming for the first time with Ragnarok Odyssey. I used as a link to my PS3 for remote play. Carried it with me on business trips and used skype to keep in touch with my family. A couple of those trips were overseas in Prague. You could even set it up as a phone, which I never did. Had a fellow worker that set it up as a phone. Looked very weird when he used it. There was this PS network app where people would use their PS camera to just connect and communicate their world live. I found that very interesting when it was people in another country. It was like people inviting you into their home. I used the camera occasionally, but the color was terrible, not the best to install on a console like this. I can't remember all of the apps I had on here because when the support stopped they started snatching the app off with updates. Netflix was one of them. Played my first Persona game on this console and finished it. I don't do that with very many games.

This console caused me to dislike SONY. Here they had great hardware in a portable and it was like they did not know what to do with it. The PSP had great support. That was a time in gaming history that I think back on as being fun. I have been pulling this out recently.

Oh yeah you were asking about the blue light. I am sure I knew about it back then but somehow I do not remember it.

I ended up picking this game up as well.  Some of the Shmups I've kept my eye on disappeared lately.  I haven't seen restocks.  The price was not bad... and my experience is not super extensive yet with the game.  I did play it for about 30 minutes and it was fun.

It's a decently designed Shmup and plays pretty well.

I bought Ghost of Tsushima for the Playstation 5 and I have never played it.  It's still sealed.  The reason I got it is because the PS5 was extremely hard to get and the game was part of a bundle.  Bundles were a way stores used to help stop some of the scalpers... or at least move more product lol  :))  By the way, I used to call Ghost of Tsushima... Ghost of Sashimi  ;D

Ghost of Yōtei is now coming out October 2nd, 2025... and it looks interesting.  Ghost of Tsushima also looked interesting, I just never played it.  It sounds like the story has progressed and you are now 300 years after Ghost of Tsushima took place.

Amazon affliate link to game - https://amzn.to/3VMLy0R

I'm looking for opinions of both games and a reason to crack the game with my currently limited time.  Did you play Ghost of Tsushima?  Did you enjoy it?  Are you looking forward to Ghost of Yōtei?  Thoughts, comments... post it up!

I ended up pulling the trigger on this game... I'll create a topic on it at some point.  It's fun... it's a shmup lol  :great:

The price came down to $33-35... and it's been awhile since that happened.  I wanted to pick it up before it was not available anymore.

@retro junkie  Just a heads up, not sure if you're still interested.  I know it's not as low as I wanted, but some of these games just aren't dropping anymore like they used to drop.

The PlayStation Vita had a "blue light," Just like the Wii, that would go off during certain events.  You used to be able to message friends on your friend's list.  This would cause the blue light to go off, game updates, news, and other events such as successful game save uploads that would happen when the system saved to the PSN.

Most of those features are now done... closed down due to the support for the console ending.  However, you can still get the light to activate by turning on the game data upload to PSN.  The data uploads every morning (early) and kicks the blue light lol.

The interesting part, and what I really dug about the Vita, is that it made it so much easier to message friends.  It was much harder and disruptive to message on screen with the PS3, PS4 and PS5.   I would offload that to the Vita and it was also touch screen... so much easier to get a message out.   This feature is now gone with most other features as well when the console was shut down.  When you would get messages, this would also kick the blue light into gear.

Here is a way to get that old light kicking up again.  Do you remember this blue light?  Does it kick memories for you?  Thoughts... comments... Post it up!

Here are a couple topics on the Nintendo Wii Blue Light... and a little bit of nostalgia:

General Discussion / Nintendo's New Patients?
Last post by retro junkie - September 20, 2025, 10:51:33 AM
What are your thoughts on Nintendo's New Patients in how they are going to effect the gaming industry?

I feel that it might impact the independent developers and stifle their creativity in certain ways. I think this has sent shock waves through the whole industry. I also feel that Nintendo has lost their way, not the same company that they used to be.

3 peat... I've been making progress on Angry Birds Star Wars on the Vita.  I plan to play play the PS4 version as well lol.  It might be a double platinum trophy situation.   I haven't looked at all the trophies yet to make sure it's still possible.  Hopefully that's the case!  :happydance:  :great:

I see what you're saying @CreepinDeth - I wondered that about the humor as well.  At the very least, it is noticeable.  How could they not after Guardians of the Galaxy... That movie and reactions to that movie changed a lot moving forward. I will say... some movies after Guardians didn't take the humor though I'll say thing, Age of Ultron does not feel like the same director / humor as Avengers.

It would be very hard for me to pick which director of the Marvel movies I like better/best as I like most for many different reasons... except the Eternals lol.  ;D

General Discussion / Re: Game Subscriptions
Last post by BLUEVOODU - September 17, 2025, 01:02:05 PM
@CreepinDeth the MS Rewards thing is still going?  Feeling De Ja Vu here...  This used to be the program where you could use Bing search and earn real rewards such as Xbox Live (back in the day) ...etc?

I have drastically reduced subscriptions.   Outside prime, Nintendo and PSN... I believe I have cancelled all other subscription services.  Long story as to what caused the final cuts... but it's done. lol

I was curious though if other programs are worth it. The PSN (IMO) isn't really worth it anymore except for online play... Especially as they restructured the program.
