General Discussion / Fantastic Four: First Steps
Last post by BLUEVOODU - August 18, 2025, 01:34:54 PM
I missed this topic 2-3 couple weeks back.  We ended up watching Fantastic Four: first Steps, Marvel's newest edition to the line-up.  There was 2 after credit scenes as well that were worth watching.  Personally, we all loved the movie and thought it was great.   We didn't watch many of the reviews ahead of time as we wanted to stay as neutral as possible.

Who has seen this movie? What are your thoughts?  Are you excited to see this movie if you haven't already?

Post it up!

I hear you.. nothing does last forever.  It's a good case for archiving and backing up.  Most companies and others don't care about this... in-so-much that they could profit from it.  Otherwise, they got their monies... so ... why would they care outside those that still have true care in them about consumers?

News / Leaks / Rumors / Re: Nintendo Price Increase fo...

I get your point but why wouldn't Nintendo come out and say that? If they straight out blamed tariffs or just raised their prices in the US I'd wholly agree. With half the US blaming tariffs for everything, Nintendo could say tariff and would get no push back what so ever. Why be coy only citing market conditions? Even if it was BS it'd be completely believable. Why lump in Canada if it's US Tariffs that's causing the spike?

I've not seen Nintendo come out and say it, I've only seen sites like CNBC and Gamespot, and of course the youtubers citing said sites.

@targetrasp It has to be somewhat from Tariffs.   I think Nintendo also naturally went after price increases. However, I can't recall a time when the older systems going out also raised in price.  It MIGHT have happened... I just cannot recall a time when this happened.

Personally I love the ability to instantly merge my iPhone "Messages" with "Messages" on my Mac Mini. I do group texts a lot. While sitting at my Mac Mini I can type something up and send without my phone and my big fingers issue.

PC Rigs, Builds, and Peripheral Devices / Re: The Linux Topic

Necrobump!  8)

I've started to slowly move away from Windows at this point. I have converted another machine to Zorin OS. This machine was only for ripping CDs and playing Spotify/Youtube music, so there's really no reason why I would keep Windows on it. Especially since it's losing support in October. This PC is perfectly fine and shouldn't be e-wasted just because it can't run the latest Windows OS.

I do still have machines with Windows. I'm keeping a laptop around with it in case I absolutely need it, plus my work PC and Gaming PC . Which I will most likely move away from there as well. Planning on picking up an AMD 9060XT/16GB and then running Bazzite on it for gaming. If there are any older titles that don't work with Linux then I might just keep an old machine running Windows for those. Not sure yet.

I tried Fedora 41 and although seemed solid, was not a fan of pure, vanilla GNOME desktop. It seemed to get in my way more than it helped. I guess I'm just used to classic desktops with an app launcher on the bottom left. Might try the KDE version next.

I'm not really in the apple ecosystem, so a lot of those features don't really do much for me. I'm also thinking about getting one of the latest Mac Minis instead of a Macbook Pro. The only thing I don't like is that you aren't really supposed to upgrade the internal components so you have to jump through some hoops to update some of them.

@BLUEVOODU Do you prefer doing your work on a MB Pro vs. the other machines you've used?
