BOOM!!! The Neo Geo Arcade Collection 3!! The cart is also loaded just like all the other Neo Geo releases. The first one game that scared me on this cart is Super Sidekicks. I am not a sports video game sort-of person. I avoid those things. Not my cup of tea. But playing Sidekicks, maybe it was because this was made for arcade play, I was surprised that I actually enjoyed it. That and Twinkle Star Sprites was a first time play for me.
Games included on this cart are,
The King of Fighters 97
Metal Slug 3
Twinkle Star Sprites
Super Sidekicks
Samurai Shodown 2
Ghost Pilots

I want to list the games I consider my favorite but that is so difficult because I could get lost in any of these games. Now I CAN name my favorite characters, Jubei and Joe Higashi. I am so glad that Evercade went with giving us the Neo Geo collections.

You can't really go wrong with any of the Neo Geo Arcade carts, if you can find them below $90. When the Dealers that carry these releases run out of stock, you have to deal with the buzzards. They will try to pick your pockets clean. This is one of those times if you miss the pre-order, your goose is cooked.

I think this is a crazy thing... where Metal Slug actually would run on the Genesis.  I will say this... the 1st screenshots do not look too shabby. The last screenshot is a bit more unpolished.  Maybe they are still working on the game.

LOL AlliExpress  ???  ;D I will say... this is pretty cool. It's also the only way to get it on the Genesis.  Hopefully they continue to take the project further.    Awesome post, @retro junkie

The price of the Neo Geo multi carts is getting insane. This is one of the pre-orders that I made for the Neo Geo arcade games on the Evercade consoles. Games on this cart include,
Garou Mark of the Wolves
Metal Slug 2
Art of Fighting 2
Crossed Swords
Ninja Commando
Sengoku 2

I consider this collection packed. Every game is a win, win. I can spend time with any of the game selections and scratch that gaming itch. These are supposedly the actual arcade versions of the games. Using the select button inserts the coin. Of course the games were meant to be played with a joy stick, you have to get used to using the "fat Nes" designed game pad. I found myself using the kick and hit buttons with my hand on top of the pad like at the arcade. The directional button is what you have to deal with. You can use this cart with the Evercade VS or the Super Pocket. There was one game that I was scared of, at first, but I gave in and tried it. It was Crossed Swords. Turned out to be a very good game.

I think what blows my mind is considering the size of the original Neo Geo carts for the MVS and AVS systems and I am holding in the palm of my hand six of those games.

The cover insert has an alternate cover on the back. I like it better because it does give your that Neo Geo feel in the color scheme.

Having paid around $35 USD for it I would consider it well worth my money. Although these game carts were a lot less when the consoles were first introduced. Prices keep increasing. The market value of the Neo Geo collection seems to be continually increasing, or I can say, are skyrocketing. It is getting harder and harder to find these for less than $50 USD. I have even seen some of these carts, three out as of this writing, go for as high as $100 or more dollars. I missed the first Neo Geo Arcade Collection 1. It is going to hurt deep when I go after it. Hopefully I can get that one next month.

This collection is a great compliment to the Neo Geo Super Pocket!

General Discussion / 2025 Brought a lot of Activity...
Last post by BLUEVOODU - January 12, 2026, 05:29:31 PM
2025 brought a lot of new activity and upgrades.  In terms of Site upgrades, I've been working on and testing different Search Engine Optimization pieces resulting in a significant boost in traffic... a lot of work went into this. We have a new theme... However, in the future... looking to do something with a specific custom theme.

Post wise, it was our 3rd best year with only 2018 and 2019 having more posts.  We definitely had more activity with the group as well.  I will be working to expand this out this year... and hope we have continued activity (and look forward to it) within the group.

I'm looking forward to what 2026 brings.  Hopefully we are able to grow a bit.  Thank you all for being an awesome part of this community.

Retro Gaming and Hardware / Metal Slug on the Sega Genesis...

Having Metal Slug on the Sega Genesis would be awesome. This is really a sort-of tech demo. I don't think that this project has advanced any further than a survival mode in gameplay. You can go to the site and download the demo for a "what-ever-you want-to-pay" type fee. My copy has only two stages. The updated version has three.

Gameplay is a run and gun from right to left over several screens. At the end on either side is a hostage, when released, gives you a weapon. You are prompted by an arrow on which direction to run. When you reach a certain rank you can advance to the next stage. You have a life bar that is reduced as you are hit, once down, game over.

The graphics are spot on Metal Slug. And the animation is superb and smooth for a genesis game. Looks just like the real thing, a Neo Geo thing that is.
My hard copy came from AliExpress, of course it did. When you turn on the game it has flashing "Not for Sale" in the title screen. I originally purchased this out of curiosity. Then I discovered the project. And I don't think it will be much more than what it is now. The game is a challenge, but has no real replay value other than just blasting the enemy as a few minute time waster. You can download it from the net and put it on an everdrive for your Genesis.

I have seen one other project where they are attempting to create a full new Metal Slug game for the Genesis console. It can be downloaded in the same way, for a fee. But that one is so brutally hard, unbalanced, and needs a lot of work before it becomes enjoyable.

General Discussion / Re: Paring Collection - 2026?
Last post by retro junkie - January 09, 2026, 12:53:45 PM
I ran out of room a long time ago. But I am mostly clinging to retro gaming. That is just where I do any gaming. Whether it is bootleg, a hacked game, or the real thing, that is where my love of gaming was birthed and lives.
I am looking to reduce mostly any CD gaming consoles, simply because once that laser disc drive goes out, or something, or other in the console, I am not going to seek to replace it with another old console. Too much to invest, and hope, in another one that could break the next day. My Sega CD did that years ago and it is now out of here, and not really missed.

Neo Geo CD (if enough of the Neo Geo games are released to the Evercade cartridges)
PS one
Sega Saturn
Dreamcast (I need to check those games after what Creepindeath said)
XBox 360
XBox one
Possibly PS2 (at least the game library will be greatly reduced)

I have been mostly gaming with the cartridge based consoles. The thing with the old consoles, it seems like there will always be bootlegs and clones.  :))  And Evercade seem to be porting over some of the PS1 games to cartridge. I hope that continues. That will fill the hole.

edit: the Wii and the Gamecube would probably be added into this list also..............

Retro Gaming and Hardware / Sega Genesis: Jim Power: The L...

Jim Power: The Lost Dimension in 3-D is a platform game that was released for the SNES. A Sega Genesis version was created, but its release was cancelled despite being completed. In 2021, Piko Interactive recovered this version and crowdfunded a release. I did not find out about this in time so I went after and purchased this bootleg version from AliExpress. I really didn't remember this being on the Genesis console, so I started investigating at the time this took place. Evidently someone dumped this game on the net. I try to stay informed about these things but somehow missed this during the hype.

I still have my SNES game with the glasses. A clever use of in-game colors, parallax scrolling, combined with the glasses creates a sort-of 3-D....ish effect. It works, but I, personally, never tried to use it for a long play of the game. Headache inducing with the colors, motion, and the glasses. Plus I wear glasses and the combination of the two just doesn't work out anyway. The game must stand on its own without the added peripheral. Because, let's face it, who besides me is going to still have those glasses.

The graphics are weird and adding the wild odd use of colors for the 3D effect reminds me of the blacklight posters of the early 70s. The gameplay is a run and gun platform. To me, the game has its own unique feel. And the one hit death demands perfection in playing this game. I don't necessarily like games that have that feature. Give me a life bar! Please! I do enjoy the game, it is just that feature which holds me back a bit. I got all the way to the end of a stage, got hit, it was my last life, it asked me," want to continue," put me back to the beginning of the stage. Aaagh!! This game takes a lot of practice and memorization to excel and make your way through. There are no easy, normal, or hard choices.

I wished they had released this when the Sega Genesis was a hot item. I would have purchased an official release, out of the bargain bin. I do like the game, but I think it is because of the weirdness and shooting element. The background music is nothing to write home about. As a whole, there is really nothing else that compares. This game is so.............unique.

Retro Gaming and Hardware / Re: Sega Genesis Shmup Earthio...

@BLUEVOODU

Did you have to ask?......mine is a bootleg. But when the pre-order opens up I will be right there. I would like to have an official physical copy. And if it is not too much, a booklet and case. This is a keeper. Bootlegs tend to be very cheaply made. If the board has any plastic to extend and make the board fit in the shell, it will deteriorate, become brittle, and crumble faster than you would expect. There are some venders on AliExpress that do have quality game cart builds. The game below is Mean Bean Machine. It is good that the game is on a chip and not a blob, but very bad that most of the board is this cheap plastic stuff that goes to pot in no time. I haven't taken my Earthion game apart yet, I want to enjoy it for awhile just in case it breaks. This cheap plastic will break from inserting and taking it out of the console.

@BLUEVOODU I definitely don't want to, but if they're just going to stop working simply because they were manufactured shoddily, then it doesn't make sense to hold on to it.

This is the downside of having physical. They could just not work one day. Which is why backups are so important now.

And, like you, I'm running out of room. I would love to play these games again but CRTs are hard to come by as well. That's the other downside. Can't just really plug them in to any HDTV. Some TVs don't have the ports anymore.
