General Discussion / CDG Weekly Meet Up - Thoughts?
Last post by BLUEVOODU - July 16, 2025, 08:06:11 PM
I'm thinking of putting a CDG meet up every week on the calendar.

Time: This would be a 15 to 30 minute time per week.
Goal: try to get as many people on board to have fun, hang out, create topics and post together.

We used to do this on our previous format a long ago.  What does everyone think?  Please add your thoughts and comments.

I'd also like to hear from the members tagged below... hopefully we can get a response from a few that do not check as regularly.  It would be cool to have you join:
@AngelBob @trkorecky @Polygon @lamer (kirby) @medataoh @Jack @HylianSeven @Helskyth @Icy @Boomsickle @Aya-Kun @MegaDrive20XX @Baker_Beezy @Strubes @Snatcher_L

Maybe I am showing my age.  :)) But I don't know what a social login is.

@BLUEVOODU just found my first one. Monster Hunter Generations will not boot. The game is recognized but it will not boot up. I never got into that game anyway. So I am not that upset. I favor Monster Hunter story.

Also - did you check to see if any of your games were online capable?  Not a ton were online capable... and I believe most, if not all, the servers are toast now.

Out of the DS games that had the feature of online play, surprisingly I have about 27 games that are capable of going online. You have to keep in mind that I did not even pursue any desire to go online to play with someone else. It was just not in my mind to do so. I missed that feature, it just went under my radar.

My going through my 3DS collection, it is rather slow going, I am getting hung up playing the game.  :))  I have more 3DS games than I thought. From what I understand there are a high number of the game Puzzles & Dragons Mario edition that are failing. So I will not be looking for another one unless I can walk into the store and try it before I buy. It is said that a third of those games are failing.

A digital copy should cost less than a physical copy since they don't have to factor the same manufacturing cost into it. If a digital copy isn't cheaper or doesn't offer anything that you can't get with a physical copy, the physical copy is worth more in the sense that you have a tangible product (that you can sell later if necessary). At least that's how I look at it.

Do we value a game more if it is a physical hard copy than it just being digital? Or is that just a matter of personal preference? (Me asking this out loud knowing I have several 3DS games that are still sealed.) I have found that I tend to not play a game as much if at all that I have purchased as a digital download. And the only time I did purchase digital downloads was during the heyday of the 3DS.

Pokemon Go and Pokemon TCG Pocket. I like the collecting aspect of PTCGP but the battling is fun, too.

@Mai Valentine I'm sorry to hear that... that's rough.  I hope it gets better for you soon.

yeah, they definitely go cheaper on the pc side.  That's why I liked Steam and other platforms so much.  I liked them too much, my backlog is stupid...

I'm playing pretty regular since Pokemon Go has stops and gyms at Walmarts now. I'm able to spin the stops and take on raids pretty easily. I'm kind of annoyed that Mewtwo hasn't been in raids for a long time now since it's  the only Pokemon I need to finish the Kanto Pokedex. I don't know enough people that live near me who play that I might be able to trade with. I hope with the new ownership (Scopely) they may finally do remote trading.

I have a OnePlus Nord N200 5G. It's very good. Long battery life, and plays the few games that I play well. The only notable downside is that it doesn't natively support QR codes, but there's work arounds for that.
